Finally, some decent poutine! I've tried it 2 or 3 times elsewhere and have always been…read moreunimpressed. Soggy french fries drowning in a mess of metallic-tasting gravy and cheesy bits that don't seem to belong. Not here. These were pretty good. Thick-cut steak fries with a crust prevented any sogginess. As did the gravy: a proper amount so it didn't resemble french fry soup. Perhaps not made from scratch but at least from a decent stock base so it had actual flavor, wasn't pasty-thick from flour, and the quantity was reasonable. The cheese curds had very little flavor of their own but I liked their texture: just slightly chewy and beginning to melt from the heat but not completely. Overall the dish was rather salty, much of which came from the smoked meat add-on. (Montreal) smoked meat is similar to what is called pastrami or corned beef in the USA. It was in the form of cut-up squares of deli slices liberally sprinkled on top. I think I'd prefer small diced cubes, the size and shape of bagged frozen carrots. Interesting, though I think I'd try one of their many other add-ons next time. I'd probably be bored with plain poutine. The best poutine anywhere? I'm still too new to this dish to say for sure. Probably not the best but good, fun to eat, and filling. I think we shared a small and it was enough for both of us for a light lunch. We also had coffee which was above average and came with free refills. Being a nice day we sat outside in the sidewalk dining area and watched the activity on the Bedford main street. There is table service outside but you go in to pay. Our waitress was great, spoke pretty good English, and helped me connect my phone to their wifi. Inside looked nice too. There was a main cafe area and a back room filled with pool tables, foosball, dartboards, and the like. It's mostly a breakfast and brunch place. There are many standard breakfast items but I'm more intrigued by the breakfast poutine and crepes. The desserts looked great too but I didn't try any. Definitely worth a visit. I'd try it again for sure.

I saw the good reviews was very excited but it was underwhelming. The waiter came to take our drink orders and he explained where their products came from. They try to get local products which is amazing! I love supporting local products! He was really nice and attentive throughout the whole service. For drinks we ordered 3 Bloody Caesars,4 beers and a cocktail. The drinks came in a timely matter and the cocktail was very good. The waiter brought mini Masson jars of Cajun like popcorn. Which was different in a good way. For the entrees we ordered fries and mayo, cheese plate, portobello spinach and cheese, onion soup,arancini(+2$ when you order an entree) and beef tartar with foie gras poêlée(+6$). (Took 15 minutes before getting to the table) The fries were average they kinda remind me of la belle province fries but less oily. The onion soup was really good very flavourful and creamy! The cheese plate was good once we got the plate the waiter explained the different types of cheese and their level of strength. The arancini lacked in flavour, you can say it was forgettable but The beef tartar with foie was excellent! The tartar was juicy, light and tangy. It was an amazing taste with the rich buttery foie gras. For main courses, we ordered the trout, braised beef in a wine sauce and medium rare steak with fries. (Took 35 mins to come to the table). Very good sized portions. We tried to order the steak well done but they only cook it one way, which kinda sucks for people who don't eat medium rare. The trout had a very good taste, there was no deep fishy, earthy taste which was great. The braised beef was okay, the taste of the wine was very potent. The meat was well cooked sous vide style, it was tender and broke off with a fork very easily but it was insanely chewy. The potatoes were well seasoned I love the pop of colour from the green onions, adds a nice colour and taste. The steak was perfectly seared and pink(medium rare). Although the steak was VERY tough which was very disappointing. The piece we had, had a lot of nerves which made it very difficult to cut through. All the plates had too many carrots haha. I get it's a side but instead of 5 long pieces 3 would have done the trick. Overall it's ok, the tough steak, the overpowering sauce and the chewy beef was disappointing. Even if a place is more of a bar than a food place, the food should still be up to par with the quality of the drinks to not bring down the whole experience. Overall I would give this place a 3.5, the tartar and the onion soup were by far the best thing, along with the fact that they support local products.

Do me a favor and order a crème brûlée!…read more Went for an early dinner so it wasn't crowded. Cosy and hip decor; I honestly wanted to move into the restaurant. Delighted by the dishes and options that were trying to be more local. I was so pleased with my duck and polenta cake. The perfect portion and it was not over-cooked. Tasty cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. I'd recommend this to friends and family and go again!! Only downside is that there weren't loads of non-meat options. I love the focus on "local" and "natural" food but as general comment to the food industry I hope that these terms aren't being used loosely to mislead consumers into thinking that the food is always a healthier option.

I ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer with the bison burger and seasonal veggies as my main. Fried pickles were solid but not too much above average. They came with a nicely spiced chipotle mayo dipping sauce and green onions. The bison burger was extremely good. Topped with caramelized onions and a somewhat creamy cheese whose name I can't recall and arugula. I couldn't put it down once I started inhaling it. The beans on the side were tasty as well. Sauteed in butter with some sliced almonds. They were crunchy and flavourful. Dessert was a very rich and dense brownie. Everything impressed me! I had a great time.
