I had just had maybe 3-4 Melenzane Parmigiana's over the past few days but they had theirs on an antipasto table that looked great so I had to have it - it was as good as any in Naples. The staff were great given the massive number of people that make pilgrimage to this place and the months in advance needed to get a booking during prime season. The Capriccisita pizza as described in my attached photo was mind blowing which overpowered the other pizzas we ordered. Friendly efficient staff. Figuring out the registration of your reservation prior to entry was a little tricky and chaotic but it eventually worked out fine. Tonight though, in my opinion the crust was not best in class. I found it to be excessively doughy around the edges and soggy in the bottom. Without a great crust as a base any great pizza is doomed to underperform. I will try the world nbr 2 ranked pizza place in the world, Una Pizza Neopolitana,, also owned by the same group, when I'm back in New York to see how their crust performs. Not easy to find and for just 10 Euros a steal. The Pasta with the creamy Vongole sauce was also very very tasty. Homemade noodles....but very very heavy and filling. If you go for that, don't order a starter. The Frittura Italiana is a well priced item and it's not on the official menu. It's a starter, but easy feeds four (for a starter) or two (for a main). It's all deep fried. Try it, many locals order it. We mostly had a bottle of white wine, one time Rosé. Always served in a nice wine cooler by the table. If you order White, then try the Fiano. Amazing Wine. Really loved our dinners here. Not the very cheapest. But worth the money. Great location, wonderful staff, lovely food. We'll be back one day.
