This place is where Vincent van Gogh spent the last 70 days of his life and died in 1890. We enjoyed the tour, the guide spoke English and was very friendly & knowledgeable. We met in the souvenir shop, she was kind enough to give us a map of the Van Gogh walk. She took us to see his small attic room (Room No. 5) which has been preserved as it was back then. She shared the story of his last 70 days, his relationship with the inn keeper, his paintings and how he died. At the end of the tour we watch a video about his life. There are no photos allowed in Van Gogh's room. It was a very interesting tour, it's a must visit if you're a Van Gogh fan, we spent about 45min there. There's a restaurant downstairs but we did not eat there. It looks just as it was when Van Gogh used to dine there everyday. read more

If you are an admirer of Vincent Van Gogh. You have to come here. It is only where he died and lived out his life. Nice cafe down stairs. Great gift shop with hard to find items. Truly a spiritual occurrence. read more

They also only have a 3-course fixed menu or if you order a la carte, there's only one appetizer to choose from and 3-4 entrees, and you're forced to order a minimum of 2 plates (not including dessert) - never heard of such thing anywhere and I live near Times Square in nyc - you'd think that there would be places where they rip tourists off, but not to this extent read more

I spend a day in Auvers-Sur-Oise with one purpose to explore everything Van Gogh. This is where Van Gogh ate and lived upstairs. The service and food is OK. Most people are tourist who traveled here to experience and follow Van Gogh's steps. If you are here for the experience please, just enjoy it without being annoyed if not just eat somewhere else. read more

A real disappointment. We were looking foward to this lunch, and at these prices it should have been enjoyable, if not memorable. Sadly, it was memorable, but for all the wrong reasons. First, the food. Nothing special, and in some cases, dried out and lacking in flavor. Second, the service. We travel often in France and don't expect fawning, American-style service. But we do expect the food to arrive hot. We also expect the sauce to arrive with its dish and not 20 minutes later, despite repeated requests. We also expect the right dish, which two of our party did not get. (And we speak French, so it's not a question of poor translation.) Finally, we expect something better than surliness from the staff. But their overall attitude can best illustrated by my telling you that the door slammed, VERY loudly, every time someone came in or out of the restaurant, and every diner jumped at the noise. How hard would it be for management to notice this and do something about it? The answer is, not hard at all, but they don't seem the least bit interested in the customer's experience.
