The concept is very interesting, they serve the chocolate separately, and you add it to a cup of hot milk and stir it yourself. The first floor is a chocolate shop where you can browse and purchase a variety of chocolates, while the café is upstairs on the second floor. They also have outdoor seating if you prefer to enjoy your drink outside. The ambience is warm, cozy, and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a chocolate break. The service was a bit slow, but it was definitely worth the wait. Overall, the Costa Rica hot chocolate was our favorite. It was slightly sweet with a light creamy taste. The Hazelnut Praline was much too sweet for our liking, and the Ecuador wasn't as smooth as the Costa Rica. We enjoyed the Costa Rica chocolate so much that we ended up taking home four bags. It was the perfect souvenir and a delicious reminder of our visit. :)

They're an iconic French patisserie with huge glass windows that allow customers to watch the talented pastry chefs work their magic under the massive crystal chandelier. Their team is also one of the friendliest in Brugge, happily walking you through the display case of treats. My favorite bite: the brioche bread (cramique) with either chocolate chips or raisins. It comes out of the oven piping hot and is handed to you warm. The incredible smell of baked bread wafts down the street. It's a bite that we ensure any of our visitors enjoy while here. They're also known for: - Merveilleux: meringue and whipped cream coated with shavings of chocolate, crystallized meringue, or almonds - Cramiques: brioche with chocolate chips, sugar pearls, raisins and sugar, or just raisins - Stuffed waffles: flat waffles filled with vanilla, brown sugar, or coffee mix - Other menu items: meringue twists, croissants, Yule logs, tea, and coffee We are cheering them on and thankful for the memories and sweet treats while we've been here!

For breakfast, we also enjoyed a perfectly brewed American coffee and a rich, creamy hot chocolate. We visited not only for the delicious food but also to admire the stunning chandelier that adds a touch of elegance to the atmosphere. It quickly became clear why there's always a line outside, even in chilly weather--it's worth the wait! The staff were exceptionally helpful and attentive, adding to the overall experience. I can't recommend this spot enough--be sure to stop by if you get the chance!

I consumed the ENTIRE box of assorted chocolates I purchased (that I had intentions of sharing with my husband.) They have a guild of Bruges Chocolatier seal outside their storefront that signifies high quality products handmade in Bruges. Therefore, you can rest assured that their chocolates are not imported. In addition, I did buy a chocolate mix for my husband and several sleeves of chocolates and a hot chocolate stirrer. They are definitely on the expensive side. However', their high quality taste made it all the worthwhile! The manager was very nice and they have a kitchen in house which is a good indicator that their chocolates are handmade and produced locally as they adhere to the Guild of Chocolatiers in Bruges. We were offered a tour of the kitchen, which I really wanted to do but we had to unfortunately decline because we were on a time constraint. There are a mass of chocolate shops in Bruges which I haven't tried, but I lucked out walking into theirs and i'm thankful! You can definitely taste the difference and that's a great thing!

Anything you may have heard about Belgian chocolate being the best of the best is true. Bruges is just one massive outlet for all this deliciousness. Having been here twice now I have my favorites. That should never stop anyone from walking into the various shops. The people here are fabulous and contrary to any stories you may have heard, the price of chocolate is very reasonable. Most of the items we bought were finished on the bus ride back to the Ship or on the ship for the remainder of our cruise. Unfortunately, not all items made it back in one piece but... still tasted great. For roughly €17 one can purchase a box containing a sampling of white, dark, and milk chocolates with plenty of choices. You can buy one piece or multiple pieces in any of the shops. All the teams of the shop are wonderful and willing to work with you to put together exactly what you're looking for. Bruges is a must visit if you're near the area and KUDOs to the team at Chocoladehuisje
