The chocolate is still made by the same family that has owned the shop for generations. This chocolate shop has drawers of chocolates to sift through. This used to be a button shop for the royalty. The drawers were full of buttons that the royalty could pick from to be on their clothes. Now the drawers are filled with buttons of delicious chocolates. The staff was extremely helpful and very pleasant. Besides, who could be sour in a chocolate shop. It was some of the best chocolate we have ever had. We are keeping the hot chocolate mix for our trip to Tahoe later this year. It will be a way we can relive our amazing trip. I wanted to say thank you to the staff for being so friendly and helpful in selecting our chocolate. I gave it one Euro sign, but you could easily get carried away in here. We spent over $40 of chocolate because we knew we weren't going to be back anytime soon.

But my friend and I wandered into this Swarovski store when we were visiting Vienna a few weeks ago, because I had learned something else about the store: it has a Moët & Chandon Bar on the top floor. So we wandered into Swarovski for a couple of glasses of champagne during a day of exploring. But once I saw how beautiful the store was, I wanted to do a little souvenir shopping, too. After all - Swarovski has a long history in Austria, making it a great spot for souvenir shopping I picked up a beautiful necklace and earring set, and my friend picked a Christmas ornament. But they have everything from small trinkets (some small pieces of jewelry were well less than $100) to enormous sculpture pieces costing thousands of dollars. The customer service was among the best during our time in Vienna - very friendly and helpful. So stop by, purchase a glass of champagne, walk around their stunning store, and see if something shiny speaks to you!

The "Monet to Picasso" exhibit is well-curated and you'll definitely enjoy their collection. The special exhibit they had during my visit was a modern art one, which isn't much my interest but definitely a change from their regular exhibits. Additionally, the museum has staterooms from the old Habsburg days. If you only have time for one small museum in Vienna, this one would be a very good choice.

When asked to examine a masterpiece clearly signed "Gustav Klimt", she replied after 8 months of examination: "An der Zeichnung zeigen sich viele Dinge, die nicht nach Egon Schiele aussehen.". How stupid can one be to mix up Klimt with Schiele, to whom she also dedicated an entire book? I wish the museum had been more selective when hiring people for such a responsible job.

Nonetheless, here's a snippet of my time here: My husband and I came by a few minutes after the store opened as our hotel was very close by. Already, there were a few other patrons inside. A few people were there to simply pick up pre-ordered items while there were also those browsing. Already having my eye on a Chanel Boy flap bag, I glimpsed at the various display cases. Eventually a sales associate did offer to help but ended up handing me off to someone else. This was actually much to my favor as the second SA was much more helpful. She listened to my thoughts in what I was looking for and brought out multiple, newly delivered pieces just to see how I'd like them. After comparing several pieces, I decided on my bag. She also assisted me with the costume jewelry and small leather goods. Again, offering to show me many pieces that were not necessarily in the cabinets but rather, in the storeroom... until I found pieces that I was really happy with. They didn't offer us any champagne or drinks as other locations sometimes do, but overall, I'm happy with my purchase and pleased with the experience. I'll be stopping by next time I find myself in Vienna!

If you are a fashionista, this is definitely a place to check out. Even if you can't afford it (most of us can't), the window shopping is worth it. Steffl is very conveniently located on a busy shopping street leading up to St. Stephan's cathedral at Stephanplatz. The street is otherwise full of quite generic high street brands which you can find anywhere else in the world, so in my opinion this department store was the only outstanding stop worth stopping at during the day at the city center (if one has limited time for Vienna, like I did). The store is not as large as e.g. London ´s Harrods, but it still has a decent sample of the best brands out there. I especially enjoyed the variety in eveningwear and lingerie departments. I like that the staff is polite and professional and doesn't act snobbish towards you even if you are an obvious student with a backpack checking out a thousands euros Elie Saab or Marchesa gown. The seventh floor also has a lovely view of the cathedral, so after you're done fashion admiring, it´s worth checking out.

I came into Steffel because I knew they sold the brand of watch that I own. My watch needs a new…read morebattery, and I went to the desk displayed/sold watches. I asked the saleswoman in that section if she could change a my battery, and she said, "No. You have to go to a Jeweler for that." O.K., that's acceptable. What wasn't acceptable was when I asked her where the nearest jeweler was located... how do I get to one? I told her I am not from here (although I have lived here for about a year, but I didn't tell her that) and she looked at me, very serious, and proceeded to ask me, "Do you have a cell phone? Get on the internet and type in 'nearest jeweler'..." She was still talking, but I had begun to walk away at that point. THIS is by far the rudest, of rude interactions with customer service that I've ever had. Even on a bad day, this is NEVER an acceptable way to talk to a customer.
