I did some research before my wedding October 2018 in Duluth and L'Co came highly rated and reviewed and I understand why. The cost/8 hours was very reasonable (especially when I compared it to places in the cities). You can select your photographer online by looking through a sample of their photographs- I chose Makayla because her personality and style seemed to mesh the best with what I had in mind. I live in the cities so it poses an added challenge when communicating with vendors 2.5 hrs away- I always get a better sense of things when I am there, in person checking things out (don't we all). Leading up to the wedding Makayla was very easy to email/text/call. She was available and always engaging, she had great ideas and feedback when I proposed an idea or had a question- I would absolutely hire her again. I did not meet Makayla face-to-face until the big day and she was energized and ready to go- I loved her enthusiasm and positive attitude. She did a fabulous job getting great shots of my husband and I, our families and our guests throughout the events of the day. She seemed to be everywhere and got nearly everyone in a great shot. She worked very hard for us and was frequently seen walking around, constantly setting up for shots and taking shots with always more than one camera around her neck. We truly feel like we got more than our money's worth when we saw the photos. L'Co overall was very easy to work with. The provided a questionnaire pre-wedding to get a feel for us as a couple and for me to be able to request specific family shots. I highly recommend being thorough when you answer this and update it- they do look at it and follow your wishes. I received the login and online portal information within 2 weeks of the wedding. The portal does expire, but they give you plenty of reminders to download. They also sent hard copies of many of the photos and a USB drive with the entire collection on it- much appreciated. It has been a couple of years since I yelped, but I had an experience with Stacey at LaCoursiere Photography recently that made me HAVE to jump back on it. Stacey offered to do free sittings for National Guardsmen who are deploying in the near future, so without (much of) my consent, my wife signed us up for a time. I was pleasantly surprised with Stacey's professional demeanor and her attention to detail when posing us - she let us do what was natural and then "tweaked" it, instead of coming up with something artificial. We tromped around in the snow on Park Point for almost an hour and Stacey with her infinite patience was game to stay out there as long as were. Once we got the proofs back I was impressed with the uniform quality of the shots, it was hard to pick just one pose so we ended up ordering a whole bunch. The only negative I'd give is that a few too many of the shots were "skewed" for my taste, but I'm pretty conservative about things like that and everyone else who has seen them liked them a lot. Stacey did offer to re-crop the shots that I didn't like, but there were so many other awesome ones to choose from I didn't take her up on it! read more

I personally do not think there is a better photographer out there for your wedding! Stacey did an amazing job and captured amazing pictures. She was so professional and fun and made Robert and I so comfortable. She accommodated all our needs and took all of our wants into consideration when taking the pictures. We have received so many compliments on our pictures!!!! She encouraged us to do the engagement session and I would totally suggest that to anyone who is getting married! It is a prep for the big day and really gets you ready and comfortable not only with her but taking picture together as a new couple! On the big day, her and Mitch where very prepared and made everything go smoothly. I honestly cannot say enough good things about them. I would recommend them to anyone! I usually only Yelp! for restaurant/food/coffee research, but I would be doing LaCoursiere Photography a huge disservice if I did not review it ... because our experience was truly awesome. We had both our engagement session and wedding photography done by Stacey and her husband Mitch and both experiences exceeded our expectations. It was especially helpful to have the engagement session to get used to being photographed - something we weren't used to! Not to mention, once we see our photos, there was no second guessing :) Of course, the wedding day photos were the most important, and here again Stacey's photography was quite incredible. She captured every moment and all of the scenery of our North Shore wedding just as we had imagined. The entire experience was very natural, very fun, and it was all perfectly reflected in Stacey's/our photography. We made the decision to invest in our wedding photos, knowing that it is an important way to capture such a big event in our lives and we are very excited with how things turned out. Although these old reviews give this company stellar compliments, my experience was quite different. If you are interested in finding out why using L'Co is very bad decision and how unprofessional they are, then read on. They were recommended to us by another photographer, and in late 2019 decided to use L'Co for our daughter's upcoming wedding in June 2020. First, I found it difficult to communicate with this company due to their requirement to go to their website, review their photographers, and then email them (no physical studio?). Our daughter also wanted a video of the wedding and after a meeting with the videographer, her decision was made and communicated to L'Co in early November 2019. (By the way, this person who responds to your emails, Amber, is not even located in Duluth.) When we were making our photographer decision, we were told via email that she would send us a list of "available" photographers for our daughter's wedding. We received the list and made our decision and wanted to meet the photographer in person to discuss everything, which became a problem. We set up a date/time, and then they later told us they could not make it. This went on for awhile and, by chance, we met her in person at the Duluth Wedding show on January 11, 2020, and made our decision then. The owner, Stacey, was present at the show as well and we talked about the upcoming wedding. I communicated to her our decision was already made for the videographer at that time. I spoke to Stacey on the phone January 17 to discuss the arrangements and payment. She told me that we could use the videographer for the shorter time period offered on the website but that we had to have the photographer for the full-day period (not the shorter period stated on their website... basically, the information on the website and what was communicated was misleading). It ended up that we could not have our choice on what we wanted and had to agree with what Stacey told us that we had to do. We received the contract via email and signed it. Although we were originally told our photographer was available, on January 20, Stacey responded with an email stating that she was now unavailable for that date. We had to deal with that news and communicated that we will only use the videographer then. We were emailed another contract to sign on January 22; however, the contract was changed to a full day rather than the 5-hour period we agreed on when I talked to Stacey. After we communicated this back to L'Co, Stacey responded with another email, "Unfortunately, I feel that booking with us just isn't meant to be. Ryan is no longer available for your date due to unforeseen circumstances." My daughter was devastated! We had just spent over two months of time invested in a very important decision only for it to come down to Stacey making our final decisions. Mary, from LaCoursiere & Co. was our photographer and we couldn't have been more thrilled with our choice. Mary did an excellent job with the entire album and throughout the entire day. We started off with engagement photos with Mary and they were gorgeous! Mary was so kind and made feel so comfortable during our photos. She got us to laugh, relax, and be ourselves during the photos. During our wedding day, Mary was unbelievable. She helped to make us, our bridal party, and our entire family feel comfortable and laugh. She provided exceptional images and was so active during the entire day.
