We've been going to L'Estaminet for many years. Our dinner this night was horrible and a tremendous disappointment from the past. My wife had the mussels and each one was either tiny (yes a fingertip at most) or wasn't open. I had the perche and it was a fraction of the size from the past without much flavor. TIP: It's closed Sunday and Monday Due to Yelp reviews being positive, we wanted to come here and finally was able. The service is friendly. The ambience rustic, down home, pub-ish (good cool vibe). Lots of seating, both indoor and outdoors. They have two outdoor seating areas ... the back with the 'river' view and the front is on the promenade (fun for people watching). The food was very tasty. Salmon Tartar: This was more for American' tastebuds ... mango and mango puree, generous chunks of avocado and fresh grapefruit segments. Very California. Delicious and light. Came with fries, which were a little under seasoned and cold (that was the case for all the fries we ordered as I think they make them in big batches as it's the typical accompaniment for most entrees). ESTA burger: Super flavorful, never thought of pairing it with tartar sauce. Must like tartar sauce, but if you do, YUM! The bun was toasted to perfection and held up nicely to the juice patty. Fresh green lettuce gave it the freshness and crisp too. Mussels with bacon and beer: That broth .... yum! You'd want to drink it; they give you a spoon so they know you want to drink it too. Dunk the bread into it to soak up the yummy salty, briny, addicting goodness. The mussels were plump and fresh too. Forgot the name, but its a sausage with cheese (raclette?) casserole. Salty, meaty, hearty, rich and filling. Order a side salad to cut the richness. It was very good, but I wouldn't be able to eat all of it due to how filling and cheesy it is. I got to sit outside on the balcony, which gave me one of the best views of Annecy I had all trip. It was so relaxing, an escape of a city overrun by tourists. The wine and cheese were delicious, the service was a little slow and confusing, I was never sure when I could order or with who, and how to get refills. read more

Atmosphere on outdoor balcony very nice. Food we ordered was mainly seafood and it was horrible. Local fish platter was dry and flavorless. Prawns on pasta where overcooked and dry. Mussels cooked well but the sauce was bitter and powdery. Did not try anything else. Service was fine. read more

We came to L'Estaminet based on the good reviews we see and are not disappointed. We arrived at 5pm and was told that they are not serving dinner until 7pm. So we just grabbed a table outside and had some beer and dessert. It is a great place for people watching and enjoying the street music. The prices are reasonable for this tourist town. We then walked around a bit and came back at 7pm and requested for seating next to the canal. We were told all but two of the tables were reserved. So it was a good thing we arrived early to get a table by the canal. By 7:30pm all the tables by the canal were occupied. Even the tables inside next to the balcony were full. So, I'd suggest coming here by 7pm or be sure to make a reservation. The food and service were great. Our server was very patient in explaining the different options on the menu. We chose the Raclette (which is a popular local dish of potatoes, meat, and cheese) and mussels. Both were really delicious. The dining experience overall was really great. Definitely worth a try if you come to Annecy. read more

Very attentive staff, the food was solid but not spectacular, loved the bread, house wines good and great deal, desserts fantastic! Ask to sit by the water - great views and people watching without being on a busy sidewalk. Had a great salad for the veggie and a fish from the lake. We will be back tomorrow for the tartare and mussels. Update: The mussels were fantastic as was the tartare. You might be able to spend more in Annecy, but you won't get friendlier service or better food. read more

Finally 7pm rolls around and we can finally have dinner. We wanted to do mussels as we hadn't done it yet. So this place had the more interesting selection. We selected the Les moules marinières avec frites (~15 Euro) and as the servers would not let us just order one dish, we ordered the Les diots à la raclette (~15 Euro). Good thing we ordered the second dish as the mussels were just eh. Nothing to be raving about. They're small and very full of white wine. It wasn't satisfying. On the other hand, getting that raclette was like a cheesy, meaty, potatoey orgasm in my mouth. I wish we still had extra bread because it was just to die for. The perfect meat to potato/cheese ratio. I would definitely come back for the raclette and not for the mussels or the service. It definitely gets super busy at 8pm so if you want to eat and finish fast you gotta come in early. It took us about 1.5 hours to get our food and go even though we ordered around 7:15. This place is right in front of the Boulangerie Artisanale, so make sure you stop by there for a pastry or two...or three. read more

I really loved this place. A friend picked it based on the Yelp reviews...the staff was super attentive and very friendly. Its a busy place, a bit tightly packed with tables, but not uncomfortable. Its casual and in nice weather there are outdoor tables. I ordered one of the moule dishes, there are so many. Mine was with scallops, craw fish and shrimp in addition to the mussels. It was delicious. I was looking around at the other plates coming out and know that I have to come back for raclette and tartiflette since they looked sooo good. read more

It was Bastille Day, so all restaurants were extremely busy. We ate at L'Estaminet. The waiters were really nice, the wine was great. My husband enjoyed his meal. I had the veal, and it was just A-Ok. I would try them again, as they get good reviews. The atmosphere is really cute, and overall, we enjoyed our meal. read more

Visited this place on our way back from holidays in Southern France. Wanted to spend a nice last evening together and chose this restaurant because of its nice-looking menu and it's location in the centre of the old town. We left it very disappointed. The stuff was businesslike and the food terrible - without any flavour and quite expensive. We won't come back and can't recommend it all. read more
