The rooms are very spacious and everything is clean. The inside courtyard of the hotel is filled with the scents of flowers and filled with greenery and spaces to sit read or mingle. Also shopping and attractions are within walking distance and the weather during late November is cool but with a shawl and good jacket and layers you'll be fine. Don't leave without having traditional thick hot chocolate and churros! The rooftop lounge is open for breakfast, dinner and drinks. When we checked in, they gave us a welcome glass of cava in their beautiful courtyard. Our apartment had a large bedroom with queen bed, big living room with two twin beds off that room separated by a curtain, balcony, huge kitchen, and they provided a large bowl of fruit which we re-stocked during our stay from the local markets. Rick Steves says Poeta "captures the essence of Sevilla," and is "timeless elegance, in the heart of Santa Cruz, an old 17th century family mansion; tucked away among cobblestone streets; 17 rooms surround a tranquil central patio where guests relax and enjoy free evening classical guitar concerts. Fantastic view terrace and traditional Andalusian design." Totally agree with all of that. We enjoyed the classical Spanish guitar in the courtyard each evening while enjoying a glass of wine or cava. Absolutely recommend and would love to stay here on every future visit to Sevilla. Great service, too. Carmen, who checked us in was so calm and welcoming. It had been a hectic travel day, and she (or maybe it was the glass of cava?) calmed us right down. The next day, we had an issue w/ our tickets to the Alcazar, and Jose helped us retrieve them, too. Our bathroom was beautiful, but the floor of the shower was very slippery. We informed the front desk, and they sent someone to our room when we were out. My younger daughter, who does not speak much Spanish, let him in, but did not understand what he was saying. He proceeded to pantomime someone slipping. She woke up our older daughter, who speaks more Spanish, and said a man with a clipboard was in the living room. She told him: "Mi padre es loco," he laughed and put some non-slip strips down in the shower. Great stay.

Why would we want to spray chemicals on us to repel insects in the room while we SLEEP? Also, there is mold in the crevices of the shower and there was a hair notably on the bed when we arrived. Reception didn't offer a solution for our issues nor allowed a refund. We are unable to sleep due to the heat and smell. This was disappointing-- we expected better.

The cost was also quite reasonable (just over $100 per night). We stayed for 4 nights and got a deal through Capital One Travel for a discount.

Not good for him. So we were transferred to another room where everything was in one bathroom space. That was good enough for my friend. The air conditioner just worked really hard to keep things cool but it was 40° outside so it didn't work that well. And then I woke up in the middle of the night pretty cold so it was hard to adjust. Overall not bad. Breakfast was pretty amazing! I've yet to be disappointed by a European breakfast at a hotel. Would probably stay here again but maybe consider some other options too. We parked actually in an underground garage near the bus station as it was a lot cheaper. Just a quick 5 to 10 minute walk to the hotel from there.

We go to check in and some Asian tourists were arguing with the staff over some billing issues. (First alarm) We check in and get to our room and it is over 80 degrees in the room blowing hot air through the vent and we have a single window looking at a ventilation duct. (Second alarm) We did ask for a different room and were given a room on the second floor with a small balcony. (Ray of hope?) My wife has asthma and each night smoke would come in through the vents and under the door from the hallway. We had no idea that a non-smoking hotel would have ashtrays in the hallways. Two mornings we went down to take advantage of the breakfast buffet. Now since this was not included in our package it would cost 8€ per person and would be added to our bill when we checked out. (No problem.) Truth is when we went to check out they charged us 16€ per day for our full stay and not just the two mornings we ate in the buffet. When I argued with them they stated that is their policy. If you eat in the buffet once you get charged for the entire stay. (Um...what??) Although we enjoyed Sevilla we would NEVER stay in this hotel again!

Nothing special, but a decent hotel.
