Great restaurant across the street from Hotel Fernando - my sister was dying to come here but I kept pushing it back for our last day since it was across the street and easily accessible on a day where we needed to be on time! Their interior is really dope too Every time we passed by, the place would always be busy! From open to close, there would always be a minimum of 3-4 tables filled and often times super busy. We went in the early afternoon around 12/1 pm for lunch and the place got packed minutes after. The service was quick and easy, and she spoke English which worked out well for us! We ordered: Octopus - priciest thing we ordered and it was €18, but also the best - it came on top of this orange dip/sauce thing which was amazing Thai red rice with veggies - my mom was vegetarian the day we came here so this was a great option but not our favorite dish Cooked eggplant salad - this we enjoyed, it's vegetarian also! Service is slow and bad. The indoor place is really small. We arrived right around 2 and there was only one other couple waiting. But as more people arrived small parties of 2 were seated before us ( we were3) and once we were seated in the very hot outdoor area around the block it took forever to get served . When I went to ask why it was taking so long I noticed other larger groups getting served before us that had arrived later. They ( the two waiters) were very rude when we asked why others were being served before us.Would not recommend this place. A fun little tapas spot with good reviews. They have 4-5 vegetarian items on the menu. The hummus was good (but tasted no truffle), I didn't like the andulusian dip or sushi, and the rice was solid. Don't let this tiny hole in the wall fool you! The food was amazing! The red rice, calamari, croquettes and beef cheek really were above and beyond. We also had grilled pork, and steak with potatoes. The steak was fairly rare and only cooked on one side. The have a large wine selection and a full bar as well. We were too full for dessert. I did notice the couple next to us ordered the cheese platter and it looked delicious. Limited tables Inside but you can sit at the bar and order a Drink while waiting for your table to be ready. SO GOOD!!!! This was by far one of the best restaurants I went to, not only during my trip to Spain, but in my life! It is a quaint, unassuming little tapas bar, but every dish was so incredible. The stand out dish for me was definitely the retina beef with potatoes. It was cooked and seasoned so well we ordered seconds! It is also worth mentioning that the Tinto de Verano was lovely here. We found this place from The hubs' search engine capabilities. We arrived on a June Monday at 8:25pm. The place is already full and we are on the waitlist. We waited until 8:53pm to get a seat by the far end of the bar (right next to the washrooms). While waiting, we ordered a Vino de Naranja (EUR 1.8) and Moscatel playa Regla (EUR 1.8) - both really delicious. Once we had our table we waited until our server is ready to take our order at 9:00pm. Really thick and flavourful, full of delicious flavours. Tastes like a tomato-y mayonnaise than a tomato bisque since it is so thick. A little small for the soup, but tasty. - Tataki de Salmón con mayonese de Ramolche/Salmon tataki with beet mayonnaise (EUR 4): Arrived at 9:18pm. 5/5. Tastes like how I prep my salmon back home--the inside is left a bit pink so that the fish is not overcooked. The beet puree is more meant for the vegetables that came along with it - it adds a sweetness to the roasted vegetables. Portion is great for a tapas. - Ternera Retinta con Papas Al Horno/Retinta beef with roasted potatoes (EUR 6): Arrived at 9:21pm. 3.5/5. The hubs really wanted the beef even though I advised him to try other signature Andulcian dishes, but he had to have it. At this price for tapas size, portion is good but cut is not. While grilled nicely, the cut of meat is a bit lower grade than what we are used to. The seasoning is good, but they don't need to add the extra coarse salt to finish it. The potatoes are nicely done. Overall, it is the best dinner we had in Spain. We highly recommend this place. read more

The food here was amazing, as you can see from my pix. The meat was superb, the service was warm and friendly. Our favorite dishes were the hummus, calamari, steak, and wok fried Iberian pork. But really, everything was excellent. The panna cotta was small but luscious and decadent, with exquisite presentation (I'm a sucker for edible flowers). We also had a good glass of wine and sangria for less than €3 each. And the prices were incredibly reasonable, especially compared to Los Angeles - the 4 of us paid about €90. First bad experience of dining out in Seville. Shame as it was highly recommended here and by friends. So bitterly disappointed. Service was absolutely awful. Why: we sat outside with several other english speaking tables, who were served in a timely manner, in fact others finished up early. Constantly ignored. On several occasions, we had to chase our food, such that my cousin's came 30 mins late, so we couldn't eat together. So our food inadvertently went cold. The treatment should've got better but then we had to follow up again for drinks, more food, and the bill. We wanted to give feedback to the waiter directly: I had to google translate that paying the full bill was not fair. He got angry and called another waiter who could speak some english. Who then accused us of not speaking english clearly: we are three British from birth, highly educated individuals. Point blank said no compensation and just but but but, you did this and actually told us to write a review on trip advisor instead. Huh, cocky and arrogant and are clearly resting on the laurels of their past ratings. Funny enough the other groups of english speaking, were not accused of the same, and got asked if everything was ok for them. Then finally, the waited overcharged us and then imposed a 20 minute time constraint to pay: wow: - and on top of all that quite overpriced generally. read more

Would have been 5 stars, as I visited 5 times (4 of which were excellent). We were mistreated by the waitress the last and final time we ate there, sat people ahead of us, took others order ahead of us, happily made us wait - then the food came out cold (and that's not how this place operates, they quickly serve hot food), and seems she wanted us to have an unenjoybale visit - and she succeeded. Stumbled on this place while looking for flamingo dances. Handsome handsome place. I speak ZERO Spanish. The staff spoke very little English. But the music, lighting, company and FOOD was strong enough to carry any conversation. I love the fried calamari and Jarebear loved the salmon with beet hummus? I'm very glad I had lunch here because the tapas are great. They do a great job of traditional dishes, but also more unique and modern ones, too. The salmorejo is simple, but so nice for cooling down on a hot summer day. Their ajoblanco looks very good, too. The eggplant cod tower was really good. First of all, it looks amazing, but the lightly fried eggplant is nice with the thin slices of cod. They also, serve it with a little salmorejo as a sauce. My only wish is that the dish had a little more flavor, maybe some honey or something. But the pork cheek is absolutely delicious. Of all the carrillada I had in Seville, this was my favorite. The slow stewed meat was incredibly moist and tender, easily pulling apart. So savory and tasty. And I loved that creamy potato and cheese. Everything all mixed together in the awkward little bowl they serve it in culminates in the perfect, decadent bite. Overall, the tapas here are excellent. They also have excellent Spanish wines, many from the vineyards close to Sevilla. I am gluten free (Celiac) and vegan. This has been so difficult in Spain because all vegetable based dishes have been so bland. La Bartola clearly labels all dishes to allow one to make dietary choices. Hubby had fried squid and grilled beef with potatoes, which he loved. I had a cooked veggie dish that was bursting with flavor. I was also given gluten free bread that was delicious dipped in the sauce from my veggie dish. We shared a yummy chocolate panna cotta (vegetarian, not vegan). We both agreed this was the best meal we've had this whole trip. read more

The male waiters' customer service and attitude were horrible. He did not want to help, period. Also, when we received a bill, he included a service charge. We've been to many many restaurants and bars in Spain, and there never was any kind of service fees like this included in the bill.
