I generally like to wait a few weeks before I submit a review to make sure I still feel the same way, and now it has been, so i'm going to review this hotel from our October trip to Spain.
My friends and I were celebrating friendship and to better understand the Andalucian culture. We booked La Bella Granada due to its location and its reviews on booking.com. There were 6 of us from different parts of the world and different nationalities. When we checked in, the girl at the front desk asked us to fill in passport information and other forms, which we had already done so online the day before. When I asked her if this information was already in their system, she gave me a menacing look, and told me that she was just doing her job. So, I thought no big deal and proceeded to do the normal check in.
Later on, my two friends realized that their room was so tiny that they couldn't even open their suitcases on the floor. They went to the front desk and asked politely if they could pay to upgrade to a different room. The same young lady at the front desk was again extremely rude and told them no, that is not possible without giving any explanations. She then turned around, smiling, to help this Dutch couple. The only thing we could figure out why she was this rude was perhaps my friends are Asians. I sent an email to the manager to explain this situation. He then request that we go to his office to resolve this issue. Not only did he not try to make us feel any better, he actually defended the young lady and said that she has always been polite to our kind of people. His comment may be caused by the fact that he is not a native english speaker, but it was offensive all the same. If he was going to defend her, then why waste our time and called us into his office as he was a principal in school?
I am writing this review to discourage people who are minorities, notably asians to stay at this place. The location is very convenient, but not worth dealing with this type of attitude. read more
