The good at this place is very tasty. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. You should expect to pay top dollar here, as there are more tourists than locals here. They've been featured on the New York Times, so this explains the prices. It's a great place for a romantic dinner too if you're looking for that. They also have a full bar. They can get quite busy during the dinner rush around 7-8pm, but I believe they accept reservations. I came in at 6pm without one and didn't have any issues.

This place is a gem in Oaxaca. I have spent the last week on a culinary tour and a local recommended this place to us. The food was fresh and delicious. The other reviews talk about the service but the owner was there and he was very attentive, gracious and nice. There is nothing pretentious at all and definitely reasonably priced. Overall -it is a must!

    The mezcal in the Biznaga

This place is not three stars, nor three dollar signs. Who wrote that shit?! This place is 5 stars and 2 dollar signs. We had duck tacos--succulent and sweet, Marlin Memelitas--to die for, salad of watercress, pears, pistachios... have I used insane yet? Insane. And seared tuna encrusted with cornmeal--like agadashi tuna. It killed us. I got a Biznaga cocktail, it was so good, I went to the bartender for details and got them--along with samples of several mezcals and a discourse on Spanish and the Boston Red Socks. There was also a mojito and dessert. Three people out the door for 110 pesos $55 with tip. Eat here then die.

I stopped in based on the recommendation and had an appetizer platter. It was excellent, unique, tasty, and authentic. Service was excellent too. Ambiance fun and relaxing.

Hibiscus - dry chili cone with guacamole

The food here is absolutely creative Mexican fusion that's worth a try! For my appetizer, I ate a habicus-dry chile wheat cone with guacamole add an appetizer; for the salad, I ate a salad with ricotta cheese, almonds, greens and grapefruit; and for my main dish, I ate a meet dish with portobello mushroom, goat cheese, walnuts and chili sauce. Yum. I recommend you try everything I had. The plus is that you get to sit in a courtyard that's quite aesthetic and hipster - with a huge tree in the middle of it all.

Coconut shrimp from the menu del dia.

We enjoyed the menu del dia which included a green salad, coconut shrimp in mango sauce, Mezcal and a large agua plus bread and tortillas. At around $12 per person, not a bargain by Oaxaca standards but a bargain by US standards and a great bargain for the quality. The shrimp were large and very good. Would return.

Comida excelente por un precio reasonable. Buena ambiente y meseros amables. Mucho mejor que Casa Oaxaca en mi opinión.

I thought it was funny when I got the menu and the food menu was only one page while the drink menu was five pages. The outside of the restaurant is blue-ish and the restaurant has multiple rooms. The ceviche del dia ($190 MXN) was a little sweet and not as tart or sour as others I've had. The tacos de sirloin ($170) were really good and were our group's favorite. The taquitos dorados de mole negro ($140) were okay; there was no meat just in case you were wondering. The aguachile rojo de camaron ($190) were good. The esquite con tuetano ($100) was not like a typical corn in a cup but it was closer to a corn soup. For drinks I had the pequeño gigante ($210) which was good. The paloma madura and paloma margarita were both favorites among our group. We went during the day and it wasn't that busy but supposedly it gets way busier and livelier at night.

We were able to get a seat right away and the servers were super helpful. My friend wanted to try some mezcal and they let us taste a couple before choosing. We sat at the restaurant instead of the bar because it was cuter and I wanted food too. I tried two of their fruity mezcal drinks and loved both. I forget the names but one had watermelon, and the other had coconut and lime. I ordered cheese stuffed plantains with mole and this was soooo good. It was very filling too!
