It's a bit weird that the best pizza I ate while traveling through Europe ending up being at this spot in Brussels. Whatever, I'm not complaining. This was a great Yelp find and made for a delicious last meal before heading back stateside. The place is very authentic and the menu is on a chalkboard outside and is not in English (so good luck :)). My friends ordered the safe and always good, Margerita pizza; they both enjoyed it. I ordered the Margerita Burrata (that's as adventurous as I got since I couldn't understand the menu, ha). Our pizzas came out within 10-15 minutes of ordering. My pizza was &#$%@! delicious and I will think of it for many days to come. It had a nice layer of tomato sauce, chunks of smoked mozzarella cheese, fresh basil leaves, pieces of sweet cherry tomatoes, and olive oil drizzled over. Such a simple pizza, but those flavors together were just amazing. My friends and I decided that we will be adding fresh basil leaves to our pizzas moving forward. The couple sitting next to me went inside to change their order after they saw my pizza. I let them know that they made the right decision :) We could tell the place was popular as many locals walked in to pick up their orders to go and many people were turned away for not having reservations. We just got lucky that we walked up and there was an open spot for us in their outdoor seating. So I guess make a reservation or try your luck! Best pizza I have ever had! Cash only, menu on big board, small restaurant and limited menu. Service was slow and kept forgetting what we asked for. But...this is the one place I did not mind poor service. I had a 1/4 carafe of their house red and a pizza with salami, garlic and smoked mozzarella cheese. BEST EVER! They also put some red chilli paste on it that wasnt too spicy. Despite the slow service we could have kept on bugging them to get what we wanted, but opted not to. Came here again as a party of 5 with visiting US folks and once again while the food was excellent (which is why it is 5-star) the service really veered from fantastic to bad during the course of the evening! Hence am keeping my rating of 4 stars as before even though the food totally is 5-star worthy! So to start with, it took like 45 minutes to order (and even with 2 diners running late) when our table was complete it still took a loooonnng while to get the attention of the waiter. Plus the folks left on the table weren't given any olives to nibble on, although those were provided to other diners. The good news is that when we did get the waiter, he said he could make our own pizzas, if we told him what we liked and so 1 person got the mushroom pizza, another got fish eggs (yes, really! because they were out of all other seafood); 3rd person said he liked pepperoni, 4th person wanted mushrooms and the wild boar bacon, and I wanted something spicy as well as the wild boar bacon. I must say the diner who requested a pizza similar to pepperoni, his pizza was just out of the ball park and ranked #1 for all of us! We later found out this was because he had both smoked mozzarella cheese and something called 'Nduja - which is a spicy pork paste from Calabria, and I would totally recommend getting any pizza that has this as a topping! (As a side note - the fish eggs pizza was too salty for me, but the diner who ordered said he didnt feel the salt levels as much). We had drinks as well and bill was around 80 euros. So I will be back, but only because the food is so good! read more

How did the hipster burn his mouth? He ate pizza before it was cool. This place was ok, but honestly the whole menu on a blackboard over your table was a little much, who wants to get up in crowed dim lit little dining area to try to read it? The pizzas were good, but I've had way better and I really think the price to quality ratio was off. I'm honestly not a fan, the whole idea of artisanal toppings is a great concept IF it actually shows the toppings in a good light! I found that the pies here were executed in a similar manner to the menus where some chef has to throw truffles or worse the oil at everything to make up for a lack of knowledge of how simple flavors combine. Hopefully someone will buy them a copy of the Flavor Bible, it was one of my first text books in school. read more

Came here in April and the pizza really was great. Our server was slammed but she hustled a lot and provided efficient, friendly service. So, with that tasty April experience in mind, we decided to come for lunch on Saturday. We called ahead, at around 12:45PM, to ask about lunchtime hours and to ensure that they weren't closed for summer holiday. The employee who answered the phone said that they were open until 3:30 (and closed from about 3:30PM to 6:30PM). Imagine my dismay when we arrived at 1:45PM and were told that the kitchen had closed only five minutes earlier! Apparently they only stay open until 3:30 for the people who have already ordered. An honest mistake, perhaps, but why did he think we were calling? Isn't that something you'd tell someone who was clearly about to head over to your restaurant? "We're open until 3:30, but if you come at 1:45, you're boned." Why not tell us that the kitchen closes nearly two hours before the restaurant closes? We were pretty annoyed, and honestly it left such a bad taste that I don't think I'll return. We had planned to bring guests when they visit Brussels, but if the service is so unpredictable, it would be better to give it a miss. read more

Based on all the reviews I've read here on Yelp! a fellow yelper and myself decided to visit La Bottega della Pizza for dinner on a Wednesday evening (first time). I was floored with the pizza!!! So much so that I went only a couple weeks later again with another friend who has been wanting to go as well. I loved it just as much the second time as the first and am trying to get my boyfriend to go with me for a third time soon ;) A few details that others have touched on that I can affirm: -Menu is in Italian so ask waiter help (most speak various levels of english) if you don't understand -Best to stick to simple pizzas in my opinion, as with Italian less is more! -Restaurant is tiny--RESERVE ahead of time or be prepared to order pizza to go/wait until a table is free--even during the week and especially on the weekends! When the weather is nice, there are also tables outside, where everyone sits together, family style. Style is also bare bones, they don't fuss with decor--the food speaks for itself! -Be prepared to wait even when you do have a table--I promise you that you'll be rewarded for your patience! -Price is very fair for what they offer pizza prices range from 11-20ish eur. All ingredients are of all quality and very fresh. -Payment is ONLY in CASH! A bank (BNP) is just a few minutes walk away. I went here on a late Saturday night. There were no tables available but the owner found me a spot at the end of a table where a large group were eating. This is probably one of the nicest, most traditional italian restaurants you'll find in Brussels. I found it thank to Yelpers, as I was looking for the perfect place to take my boyfriend for dinner (he has a thing for pizzas...but who doesn't :-)) After reviewing all the amazing reviews telling me this was the best pizzeria in Brussels, I decided to book a table through Facebook - they replied straight away and I got my table for two booked. It was absolutely gorgeous. The menu is on a blackboard on the wall and it is really massive, with all ingredients detailed, and in Italian. Staff go around running and speaking italian, the atmosphere is warm and cosy...just perfects. The pizzas are also and obviously amazing: I had one with pepperoni (can't remember the name now, but really, try whichever, I don't think you can be disappointed!). The crush was perfect, the toppings delicious and it was really big. So big that I hesitated having a tiramisù afterwards, but I had to! A small food coma ensued but it was well worth it! I tought there only existed one pizza Margherita, the cheap one for eaters on a budget. Turns out I couldn't be more wrong. So as the coffee taster tastes black , I took the Pizza Margherita Regina. Run by the owners. No fuss, no frills, good produce. Love this place. Love the owner, italian guy who lived in Berlin for many years, his wife, his brother, the waiter that is there since the beginning. Pizza's are delicious and we love the small authentic and down to earth space with its picnic benches outside in the summer. If you like I Due Forni in Berlin, you'll love this place. Service can be slow, because they serve take away pizza's before the people sitting in, but its worth the wait. My favorite pizza is the "Classica", fresh mozzarella, basil, cherry tomatoes imported especially from Italy, and rucola, it costs 18€ and its so damn delicious! read more

Very good pizza, relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere yet cool place to have a cosy dinner. They only accept cash so make sure you hit the atm before going there. It is true that pizzas can be quite expensive but if you keep it simple ( like a margherita) it still is reasonably cheap. A great neighborhood venue. read more

so good pizza. the best pizza of Brussel, I don't know, but for sure among the best! the decoration is not really nice, we seems to be in the kitchen of a grandma (formica&old white walls, with flowers stolen from public pots). for me choice was hard, as I wasn't attracted by any pizza in particular, so I decided regarding the ingredients, and that worked, indeed I tried the pizze of my neighbors too and they were all good, fresh, fragant, crunchy, cheesy, spicy for some of them. they say all ingredients are from sardenia, that might me true, but I couldn't sneak into the kitchen (and I would, so focused on my plate!) + open on monday night (yes!) + ask for doggy back to bring your half pizza leftover home - it's a little bit more expensive than other good pizze in Brussels - EVEN IF YOU BOOK, you might arrive and wait for a table - better if you go there with one of your italian friends 5 read more

It certainly is my favourite place for having a pizza in Brussels. It is a very small place, run by the owners themselves and with a fine selection of pizzas with fresh ingredients. The pizzas are not cheap, but that is because the ingredients are genuinely of high quality and do not come from a can. Don't expect a fancy interior with comfortable seating. The whole point of a pizzeria is precisely this: you come and eat a good pizza. No frills. Do note you can only pay by cash (no cards or lunch vouchers). read more

According to some reviews, this place was suposed to serve the best pizzas in Brussels, if not in Europe. If that is the case, I will stop eating pizza in both places. I was not expecting much of the decor, but the flowers on the tables were wilted and dry. The water on the bottles containing the flowers was filthy.The flowers seemed to have been recycled from the nearest cemetery. My date and I ordered two Margaritas (princess and queen). They each cost about 14 Euros, a hefty sum for such a simple dish. Both came burnt, but my date's was carbonised at the edges. I have a new name for it. It should be called Pizza Margarita "carbonizzatta". We were disappointed by this place. We went there twice: the first and the last time. read more
