They are really respecting COVID regulations which I appreciate. However, they make everyone take a basket (the big bulky ones that you push) and the aisles aren't wide enough so it was hard to move through the store. it would have been better if they just counted the number of people or gave us the option to take a hand held basket. I took the bus 24 to get there from downtown during my lunch. The prices are regulated so whatever they sell in this store, if they have it at a different SAQ store will be the exact same price. The staff were relatively polite (although the person manning the cash register only spoke to me in French even after I replied to him in English that I would be paying by credit card) and the store was very clean and well organised.

One such experience was when a customer flew into a huge rage because English was being spoken in the store. The other very recent experience unfortunately came from an employee I'd never seen there before. He said something very fast in French as a customer was entering the store. She did not understand him and she just nodded and continued toward the interior of the shop. He kept shouting the words in French until the customer asked if he spoke English. He angrily explained that he needed to see proof of vaccination. He went on to accuse the customer of ignoring people who speak French. The customer apologized at least three times and even said that she appreciated that vaccination proof was required. The man never accepted or replied to the apology. Each time she apologized he continued in silence to give the customer a very angry expression and this made the customer cry.

We ended up talking to one of the guys who works here for over half an hour, learning about different beer styles (broadly), Quebec beer laws, and some special brews in Quebec. You can tell this store is special, as many locals were coming in and out while we were there. There also seems to be a nice rapport with the people who work here, who are obviously willing to help. For any American coming to this store - they will do trades for special, highly-coveted beers (think Treehouse or Alchemist), and you'll get a very nice trade with what you bring. This opportunity is definitely something we plan to take advantage of when we inevitably return to this store.

I went to Dieu de Ciel, and ole boy told me to come here to buy their beer... They don't have everything that is on tap / available at Dieu de Ciel, but they had several. I picked up a couple six packs. Then went to pay the bill. This is where the AMERICANS READ THIS comes from. Ole girl / Little Lady only accepts Canada bucks. Not US. Not US Credit Cards. So I had to get rid of one of my six packs and use up the rest of my Canadian Bongo Bucks to pay the bill. Other than that, I had an absolutely wonderful experience.

She has a great dry, sarcastic sense of humour that gets me every time, and she's quick to let me know when a beer I'm looking at on the floor is available cold in the fridge instead.
