This is the official store of Tintin! It's not only a store but a museum of sorts as well. You can see Tintin throughout the ages. Whether you're a huge fan or a novelist, it's absolutely a place worth popping in. They've got all sorts of collectibles, anything you can imagine, really. Cool store. I grew up reading the Adventures of Tintin and his doggie Milou all over the world. Thanks to Tintin I dreamed of places and action that only happened in those 'bandes dessines'. My oldest brother had the full collection of comics for years (what a pity that there was no culture of keeping these type of cultural heirloms for the future:( and I also had several Tintin toys when kid. Everybody in Spain (and Europe) loves Tintin, and this was my second visit to this store/pseudo museum. They have tons of toys, miniatures and books for the hardcore fans and for the ones initiating. The shape of the store is a little bit weird, and can be very congested and many people visit. It is free entrance (in case from the outside you think is a paying museum!) and it is a great experience to visit if only to know something more about the Belgiam art and fun approach to things. Remember to take a look at all those Tintin related murals all over Brussels! read more

A lovely shop with lovely objects that are now quite rare. A must-visit place for all the Tin Tin fans and an amazing place for kids. My wife is a big fan of Tintin and when we were in the city, we had to visit this shop. They sell a huge variety of Tintin Products like toys, t-shirts, mugs, Magnets, and figurines and the friendly staff will help you choose the perfect item to bring back all the good memories from your childhood. "The Adventures of Tintin" is one of the most influential comics of the Western world. The comic series was published from the 1930's up until the 1970's collected by 24 graphic novels. It stars the eponymous Tintin, a journalist who goes on all sorts of interesting adventures all around the world. He is accompanied by his wire fox terrier Snowy (Milou in the original French) and other recurring characters. Despite some of the (as of 2019) controversial themes present, especially in the first four books, Tintin is so beloved in Europe that some authors dedicate entire studies to it. Tintin is considered one of the main icons of Belgium as a whole. I didn't grow up on Tintin nor European comics, but I was exposed to the other main graphic novel format in the form of Japanese manga growing up so I have an appreciation for the art form. Doing my research for the Belgium/Netherlands trip I knew that Tintin was popular and I had to get something Tintin-related during my travels. What I didn't know was that this store existed and I stumbled on it on my first day in Brussels. It helps that it's located on a main street that links the Grand Place and the central train station. Since this is the official Tintin boutique store it's assumed that you know the basics about the series though there is little information present. If you want to know more about Tintin the Belgian Comic Strip Center has a section that details the entire history of the series. LOTS of Tintin merchandise to your heart's desire but it's concentrated into a few types - books, figurines and apparel. Since the books are all in French I decided to get a mini figure of Tintin in an astronaut suit from "Explorers on the Moon" (€6) and a shirt that depicts the various icons from the series (€30). This is really cool. I'm actually not too familiar with Tintin as I didn't grow up or was exposed to it much, but I can appreciate the effort in this store and it's practically a mini museum. Plus, I love comic art and simply that Tintin is still indeed legend. I also have quite a few cartoonist/animator friends so I decided to pick something up for them. So! Now if you are a fan, you really can't pass up peaking inside. There were gorgeous figures and replicas of the characters all displayed. Lots of comic books to add to your collection. I could have just started my collection right then and there, but the comic book life in Belgium is amazing and I already had a few titles weighting my suitcase down. I ended up purchasing several postcards-- all what seemed sketchbook drawings, but there was so much to look at and so much potential memorabilia. Rude and Racist Staff -- do not shop here. While I was making a purchase at this store, a man who had been waiting in line said that he had been overlooked (this was true) and he wanted to know if he could make his purchase. The staff helped him, but after he left one turned to the other and said rude things about him in French. This was bad enough, and but the other responded by asking "was he Jewish?" I was horrified and told the the clerks these comments were not acceptable, and that one did not talk about customers in front of others, nor should they disparage people based upon their supposed religion. Rather than apologizing, they told me that other Jews had been in the store and had been "pushy" so this made their comments ok. When I told them their comments were anti-Semitic and racist they did not care and continued to argue with me about why they were right. Do not frequent this store, they do not deserve your business. There's another store that sells Tintin material near the Mannequin Pis -- go there instead. read more
