Today's lunch was a special menu requested by the many English people who live in the area. Being an American, I felt a little sneaky getting one of the only ten seats available at the lunch. The starter of smoked salmon with horseradish cream, accompanied by a selection of breads, was a perfect way to begin. The most elegant fish and chips followed, complete with the best mushy peas I have ever had. And the sticky toffee pudding with a scoop of homemade Bailey's ice cream had us full to the brim, but so happy we were there. I've now been fortunate to experience the restaurant side of Le Calabash twice, which makes me want to sign-up for one of their cooking courses soon.

It would be hard to pick a favorite moment because there were so many, but the day dedicated entirely to chocolate and the evening that we got to know Alison & Sidney a little better over a post-dinner glass of wine, are two of my most treasured memories. Alison & Sidney are very skilled instructors but are also incredibly caring-making sure everyone understood each step and felt confident in their abilities. It was a fantastic experience that left me eager to apply what I learned in my own kitchen. Looking forward to trying another of their classes next year!

Inside is a tobac (which is quite strange in this area as there are no supermarkets that sell cigarettes). You can buy all the usual stuff, they also have a section of English produce which can be quite handy if you've run out of your favourite food (only a selection though).
