Decided last minute to head out to dinner and based on reviews decided to try BdL. We were seated out front on the square on a lovely evening. Service was friendly and efficient. The oeufs de Meurette appetizer was really good, a unique Burgundian specialty consisting of poached eggs in a cream sauce and a red wine reduction sauce. Entrees were lacking with the steak almost too tough to eat and the "Gougère farcie façon Pôchouse" was just steamed salmon on a bun in a pool of sauce. Overall, 5 stars for great value. This brasserie is cheap, bright, comfortable and packed with university students enjoying cheap happy hour drinks. If you're a fan of beer they have more options than your typical place - I was happy with happy hour wine prices though. Also on happy hour - appetizers and baskets of crispy frites. I opted for an onion soup (really lovely) and their "yin yang" version of ouefs meurette which offered versions in traditional wine sauce but their own version in an Epoisses cream. Can I reflect upon the perfection of these eggs for a moment? Indulge me. The burgundy version was great - a light, herb filled sauce that wasn't too salty and clearly homemade. But that Epoisses cream? Incredible - I used up a pile of bread on the sauce because it was perfect. I am currently sad that I am not eating that sauce right now and for the rest of my days. Service was fun and friendly, and the prices are "college student cheap". Don't sleep on those eggs, though - seriously. read more

We made reservations and the food did not disappoint at all. The servings were generous and the service was helpful and timely. The waiter asked me how I'd like my burger done- so I said "well done". However, I ordered a vegetarian burger and it was done very well. There was a patty of fried apples, goat cheese and nuts, surrounded by cheddar, lettuce and tomato. The bun was fitting of the insides of the burger and it stayed together pretty well. I got a blackberry and gingerbread dessert and it came out very hot and delicious. The only thing I would add is that it is a bit strong on the berries so it would go well with a bit of cream or ice cream. We were all very satisfied with our food. read more

My wife and had two excellent main courses here - possibly the best Boeuf Bourguignon ever (and that's saying a lot in the area of Burgundy). Popular, rather informal bistro with friendly, helpful staff and reasonable prices. Learned how good horseradish can be in a a cream chicken sauce! read more

Just had the most amazing dinner here tonight! My husband and I both got the 3 course Burgandy menu. The main course-the beef cheek was incredible. The starters and the desserts were delicious as well, and the wait staff was friendly and super hard working. They were packed but service was great. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

We were lucky to stop this place after visiting lA Musee sea Beaux Arts. It was a busy holiday weekend, but with much staff off, our server informed us that he may be a little slower than he would prefer given the lack of help. Our meal went of seamlessly, and we had more than enough attention. I ordered the lamb shank for lunch, which is not something I would order for lunch but it was worth it. The meat had integrity, and was not necessarily falling off of the bone, but it has a pleasantly moist, and tender mouth feel. read more
