    Carnitas plate

Mercy Lord! We came her to celebrate my father in laws birthday, Venice is his hometown and this restaurant has been a staple to the community. It's been around since the 1960's It was my first time and I wondered what was good? My husband said he used to come as a kid and he remembered they had homemade flour tortillas! I went for the carnitas plate and it was everything I wanted and more. Tender and savory with the right amount of salt. You get a flour tortilla and make yourself a taco with beans, carnitas some guacamole and pico de gallo. STOP!!!! Chefs kiss. I want to go back just thinking about it. My husband got the quesadilla with chorizo and papas and he really enjoyed that served with beans de la olla. I need to go back. Services was good. Ambiance was quaint and comfortable. Low light cabana type. I didn't go look at the patio. Parking is horrible, most people park in the Ralph's parking lot and just cross the street.

La Cabana is a solid neighborhood staple, classic Mexican food! There are so many options for Mexican in the area, but with that La Cabana is one that I always find myself coming back to. I am a sucker for their enchiladas, fajitas, and the margaritas. It can get a bit pricey, so expect west side prices.

The chips are warm and the salsa is suitable for everyone--not too spicy.

I've been to La Cabaña time and again over the years and always enjoy eating at this venerable local establishment. The food is good, the servings are big, the prices are fair and the service is great. I like El Verde, a huge burrito stuffed with chicken, pork or beef, and smothered with a tasty green chili sauce and served on a bed of rice and refried beans. I also like the guacamole, which is fresh and can be ordered mild or spicy. I wash it all down with a spicy michelada made with Modelo beer. The vibe is casual and relaxed and my favorite spot is the outdoor patio. If you're in the area, I recommend this spot.

Great authentic Mexican food, delicious margaritas, & an awesome patio vibe - what more could you want? Food - delicious authentic Mexican with extensive menu options for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Classic margaritas are made perfectly & so easy to end up ordering quite a few of them! Loved my garlic butter shrimp entree - it was delicious. Service - such kind, fun servers here - definitely a family restaurant vibe! Food came out quickly & we were seated right away, despite it being Cinco de Mayo. Ambiance - both indoor & outdoor seating, with a fabulous patio decorated with bright colors & art! Such a fun atmosphere, even during the more low key hours. We weren't there for it but I also know that they have Mariachi playing from the roof regularly. La Cabana is a great local option for authentic Mexican in the Venice area & will absolutely be going back for the food & the margaritas!

This place usually is very nice. The outdoor patio is where to be weather permitting. Came here yesterday and ordered some al a carte enchiladas because I wasn't that hungry. I got the full plate instead that was $23, when it should've just been $14. This is probably because another person that came with us ordered 2 enchiladas with "rice and beans" so I'm guessing they assumed I wanted the same. I didn't eat the refried beans or rice so more or less a waste of money. $7 for rice and refried beans is overpriced anyway. The food was ok, but could've used more flavor.

This is a greasy Carnitas taco

For the place to be empty the service was very slow and bad. The waiter was off so we had to pay our bill even if we were not finished. Vibe KILL no we don't want to drink anymore

I accidently removed my most recent review--brain dead me. La Cabana is a local place in Venice, but they love to see tourists. The staff is super kind and the place is spotless. Parking is on the street or their lot. It is not a problem. The prices are super fair. They have full bar and make great margaritas. All of their food is great. We love their rice and beans and all of their soups are great. My grandson loves their burritos and their chicken tacos. I always order an enchilada. The best thing about La Cabana, besides the great service, are their home made tortillas. They are served hot and right off the loving hands of the person who made them. They are the best tortillas ever. You have to have them and put some butter on them. You will be in heaven.

    Do your tortillas contain lard?

I think they do. They are hand made.

Does anyone know if the tortilla soup or refried beans are vegetarian?

Thank you for reaching out to us! The beans do not contain any animal product however the tortilla soup does contain homemade chicken stock.

I believe it was Daria (not sure if I spelt that correct) was my server who took the time to explain some of the amazing features. She suggested I sit at the bar as I was alone in business and introduced me to the bartenders. Being Canadian she made it a point to one of the bartenders that liked hockey and introduced me. We were seated in a booth next to a station where we could see a lady making fresh tortillas. We decided on the immortal drink that was seen on posters outside the building. The waiter let us know this drink is made at the bar, but they also had a margarita cart that they bring to the table to make the drinks right in front of you. We were so happy with our choice of the immortal. This drink was so good that we ordered two more each during our time at Casablanca. For lunch I ordered the build your own tacos and I decided on corn tortillas instead of flour. Which the waiter let me know they are homemade just like the flour kind. While we waited for our food, we were given fresh tortillas with this salsa that tasted like avocado. We could not stop raving over the tortillas. They were so fresh and buttery. I would come here just to eat the tortillas and have a drink. The build your own tacos was pretty good. The meat and toppings are all separate so I could build my tacos to my likings. The only thing I wasn't too crazy about was the cheese. The taste was a little too different for me. My friend enjoyed her tacos as well. I was very pleased with the food and hospitality. Parking: There is a small parking lot beside the restaurant. Otherwise expect to park on the street and possibly a few blocks away. This area is pretty busy so I am sure a busy day parking can be tough.

As someone who has lived in this community for over twenty years, it's disheartening that people with service animals still have to endure this kind of treatment and judgment. Even with the crowds, service has consistently been fast, efficient, and attentive. The food is very good, and the energy is always lively. My most recent visit was no different. Everything ran smoothly, the tacos were great, and our servers stayed on top of things throughout the meal. The only odd part of the evening happened as we were getting ready to leave. I stopped by the bar and asked the bartender for a cup of ice. He acknowledged me but never came back with it. While I was waiting, another guest next to me mentioned he was also having trouble getting service at the bar, while other customers appeared to be getting helped. I don't know the circumstances and don't want to make assumptions about why that happened, but it definitely felt strange. After waiting several minutes, I went back to my original server and she had the ice for me in about a minute, which reinforced my overall impression that the service team is generally very attentive.
