Most of their menu consists of fried noodle, fired rice, etc. Basically your stereotypical Chinese food but since we were tired of the fried food we ordered dishes that were not on their menu. You can make these request but make sure to know what you want and also make sure these are typical dishes you would see at a restaurant; it shouldn't be something like orange chicken but instead more along the lines of noodle soup, or chicken mushroom.

We came back to Madrid two days early so we could visit La Fragua one more time before we flew home. This is a very simple restaurant plopped down in the middle of a Madrid suburban neighborhood. From the outside it is only a door in a wall of an office building but inside it is a delightful restaurante serving a great version of Cocido Madrileno. The patrons we observed on both of our visits appeared not to be strangers which made us believe the quality of food brings locals back time and again. The English here is limited to non-existent but communication is easy. On our second visit the house was full and we arrived without reservations but they made a table for us anyway and treated us very graciously. To be sure we sampled other dishes during our two visits but the Cocido will have us coming back. Their house wine is Ramon Bilbao and the inventive tapas that accompany every meal are not only tasty but mini works of art. We came here twice...we will come back again.

An unpretentious joint it is located in a semi-industrial part of town surrounded by car parts dealerships and other businesses that I had no idea what they were. We stopped in only for a drink and ended up ordering an Argentine sausage that went very well with the house red wine. Criollo has a great neighborhood vibe that is friendly to strangers and although they spoke no English were helpful and patient with my infantile Spanish. They have an extensive tapa/racione selection written on white board above the bar...we would like to come back and sample more. We would stop here again for a drink and a nosh.

As soon as I walked in I was greeted kindly greeted by the owner Carlos Roberto who kindly made us feel like part of his family. The service was amazing but the food was even better. The dishes we had reminded my wife and I of our times spent in El Salvador. The pupusas were to die for and honestly every dish was delicious I highly recommend this place and we will definitely come back again when we visit Madrid again. 10/10
