We were here for a wedding and here for only two days, let me say I'm so glad we made time to come here!! It was delicious and you can't beat 5 tacos for $14. Service was great, and they were super helpful. They have sooo much space to sit inside. And seems like they have a whole bar they split with.

What a neat spot to come after a concert to have a late night snack. More like tacos Galore. And fabulous frozen margaritas. Service was fast and friendly and willing to help. The vibe was totally casual yet fun. It did remind me of some old school movies and nostalgia from growing up. I do love that they do the double tortilla with the street tacos just like they do back in Mexico. Overall it was a great experience with a great friends to enjoy. Definitely a must try

What a gem of a place!! 2 street taco orders (5 tacos) with tax was about $29-30 I got el pastor- YUM AMAZING My gf got the birria- amazing, comforting, YUM! The salsa verde- 20/10 and I'm a salsa critic Salsa Rojas- amazinggggg We were originally waiting in line and someone came from a side and said they could seat us! The tables and floors were super clean even at 12am. The services was wonderful. The music and decor was a vibe. I didn't drink but I can't wait to come back and try some mezcals!

Came after a show in the theater district! Great tacos, great service and a fun ambiance! They're open late so always a great option after a play, being in the downtown area etc. My only dislike is the parking is a bit hard to come by at this location but otherwise one of my favorite go to taco places

Delicious, authentic street tacos that are made right in front of you!! I got the carnita tacos that were very juicy and flavorful. The mango margarita is also very fresh and taste just like a mango that's been picked off of a tree - highly recommend if ever at this restaurant. The entire staff speaks Spanish and very broken English so be mindful of that but they are all kind and have great customer service. Very comfortable and homey kind of feel to the restaurant which was nice for conversing with friends.

This place was fantastic! The service was quick and the workers were all kind and helpful. I ordered the street tacos with 3 asada tacos and 2 birria tacos. It came with a side of beans. The meats were perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. I genuinely have NO complaints. I didn't take a picture of it but there's a topping station with different toppings and salsas to add to the tacos, so I added the cilantro and onion to mine. Absolute perfection! The beans had a little kick to them but they were delicious. Highly recommend if you're in the downtown area!

    They also have beers!

The tacos were amazing! The beef street tacos were my fav. The pastor tacos had a pineapple taste to it which is not preferred for me but it was good overall. The place loses points because of the bar service and ambiance. The bar had a eerie vibe too it. The bartender never greeted us. We had to ask him if we could order for him to even say anything to us. He also had AirPods in to talk on the phone for the duration of the visit but the drinks were really good! 4/5 on the food and drinks, I will return.

As I sometimes do when I'm bored, I open Google Maps and look for new restaurants to try. I discovered La Calle on Franklin while the app was trained on Downtown Houston, and I mentally made plans to check it out whenever I'm in the H for something. Said something was the Texans Draft Watch Party at Avenida Plaza yesterday I decided to hit the eatery up afterwards. I'm happy to report that my dining plans went accordingly For my first meal here, I had the five-street taco plate, choosing cerviche to occupy the soft shells. Damas y caballeros (ladies and gentlemen), los tacos son muy delicioso. The staff wasn't stingy with the shrimp, which I occasionally ate with a fork. Accompanying the tacos were a complementary soup that was very spicy but tasty nonetheless. I normally finish my meals when I dine out, but I couldn't finish the soup from all the spiciness. Plus, I was nearly full from the tacos. La Calle occupies one of the older buildings inside Downtown. It's just mere steps from the METRORail. Adjacent to it is a bar that's accessible to customers. At night, it has a marquee-like sign that brightly lights up. Oh, I forgot to mention that the tacos are close to authentic. That said, you can forget about Tacos a Go Go, Torchy's, and Velvet Taco. ¡Bien hecho (well done), La Calle!

I've been here plenty of times and I'm afraid my experience here has fallen slightly with every visit. I respectfully do not consider this an authentic kitchen. The pastor I feel is overly dominated with a sweet flavor, which I presume is from pineapple. While I understand this may be a creative choice, it is not the flavor I expect when ordering pastor. The asada is also bland, un-tender, and dry. The side dish frijoles were also without flavor and no better than your run of the mill Tex-Mex refried beans. The chia seed limonada however was impressive. I appreciate the niche of tacos in downtown that La Calle fulfills, and I would bring someone here if they had never been or have little experience with authentic Mexican cuisine. It is definitely a premier lunch spot. However I would not come here alone or with more experienced eaters. The service was also not very welcoming whenever I attended on a fairly early Friday night. Kinda pricy too

These were honestly some of the best tacos I've had in town. We stopped by here for a late night bite after 12 and were surprised to see how busy they were for a Sunday evening. The birria tacos and beef street tacos were delicious (so good I forgot to get a pic before devouring). Their consume is nice and spicy, and they have a bar that offers ample toppings.

I am blown away by the amazing tacos they're selling here. For one they stay open late, the customer service is great. This food was simply amazing.! Easy five star review. Food: I got the Minh taco plate and let me tell you what I was very satisfied. The tacos here phenomenal. Some of the best beef fajita tacos I've had in a long time. The Birra tacos were just as good. Everything is made fresh to order and is simply top-notch. I will go back here all the time when I'm craving beef for tacos. Now I will say the five mini taco plate. The tacos are quite small so you may want to order a little bit extra food if you're really hungry. I like how it came with the free side of Pozole , which was absolutely full of flavor. They are opened up late, they have great customer service, and they're serving up great food. However, you cannot place an order to go not sure why, but I'll continue to come here for a very long time.

    Gringo Tacos with Shrimp Ceviche
    Steph D.

I stopped in with a group of 6 friends on a Saturday, just before 12pm Noon. I ordered the Gringo Tacos (3 flour tortilla) with Shrimp Ceviche as my protein. I declined the choice of free side (Frijoles, Birria Sauce, etc). I did add an Elote cup; and a large frozen Lime Margarita. The margarita was standard frozen mix, served on a 16 oz styrofoam cup. The Elote cup was too soupy and too spicy. Definitely have had better. My tacos were very good. The flour tortillas were fresh, as was the Shrimp Ceviche filling. Birria Street Tacos (qty 5 corn tortillas) looked really good. The service was quick and friendly. I didn't love it. (Sorry!) If my friends were coming here again, I'd join them. But I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again.

We stopped by La Calle Tacos in Houston while visiting and I'm so glad we did. It's an outdoor bar-style spot with a really cute setup and great vibes. The people were super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We ordered a strawberry margarita and a peach margarita, both were refreshing and perfectly mixed. For food, we shared the street taco combo with five tacos. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. Definitely authentic. Honestly, I wish we had taken the time to sit down and really enjoy the meal instead of rushing through because of an appointment. Being downtown, there were a few homeless people outside on a bench, but that's expected in the area and didn't take away from the experience at all. Overall, La Calle is a spot I would highly recommend for anyone looking for tasty tacos, good drinks, and a fun atmosphere in the heart of Houston.

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. The small parking lot adjacent to the truck was nearly empty, except for a few other patrons who probably had the same idea. Ordering was simple and to the point. The menu keeps things straightforward: a selection of meats served as tacos or plates with a handful of sides. I ordered two barbacoa tacos with salsa verde. Less than two minutes after placing my order, they were in my hands. Fast service on a scorching day is always appreciated. With no seating available, I retreated to the comfort of my car to eat. Based on the amount of grease packed into these tacos, I would recommend doing the same. Eating them while standing could end with your shirt becoming an unintended side dish. One thing to note: don't count on a generous napkin supply. I realized after returning to my car that none were included. Consider keeping a few emergency fast-food napkins in your glove compartment. Those leftover Taco Bell napkins may finally fulfill their destiny. The barbacoa was flavorful, the salsa verde complemented it well, and overall, the tacos were overall tasty. That said, I left somewhat underwhelmed considering the crowds I routinely see gathered here during lunch and dinner hours. Perhaps I'm missing the standout item that keeps customers lining up daily. Even so, if you happen to have cash in your pocket and find yourself craving authentic tacos, this truck is certainly worth a stop.

One of my friends took me here and we all got to try a lot of stuff. We ordered: Horchata (small for $3.49), Quesadillas with beef, Quesadillas with chicharron, Gorditas with beef, and Gorditas with chicharron. I don't like cinnamon but the horchata was addicting and it paired so well with the food. My friend got their Melon Agua Fresca and he said it was really refreshing as well. The gorditas were stuffed and they were so delicious, the cheese was melting and the bread was warm and not dry. The Quesadillas were my favorite. You put both the red sauce and the green sauce on it, a lot of lime juice, and it's perfect. I forgot to order cilantro on mine but they do give you it at no extra cost. The prices are so cheap and you get so much food. Everything is around $3 and it will fill you up. Each of us totaled out to be about $10-15 per person and we were stuffed. I would definitely come back here over and over again! My friend said the only bad thing about this place is when you order to go, they won't give you a lot (no lime, no hot sauces, less meat, etc.) so definitely get dine-in.

The chips and queso are a must every time -- fresh chips with that cheesy queso, what a hit! The churros were also great and paired perfectly with the chocolate sauce. Overall, this is definitely becoming a regular spot.

There's a parking lot, but we went on the weekend, and while the interior didn't look overly full, it was somewhat difficult to find a parking spot. The restaurant itself is clean. Everything is pretty much green and white. There's covered patio seating. You order from a window and there's a large menu printed nearby The menu offers all sorts of tacos, meats, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, quesabirras, sides, and even kids meals. You can get beer, margaritas, and non-alcoholic drinks. There's also a breakfast menu The food was good, and it didn't take too long to come out. My main issue was the service. The individual taking orders seemed to have a bit of an attitude and just seemed "over it." Furthermore, we mentioned having a queso coupon and when we were given the total I placed my card on the reader and I was told that I did it too fast and the queso wasn't taken off. The odd thing was, we walked away and realized that they didn't add the queso and the coupon was for free queso so they could have just rung up an additional queso. This individual had the vibe of eye rolling everything, and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth Some tips: You can order online to avoid any wait. Just go up to the pick-up window when it's supposed to be ready for a painless interaction There's a little bar area where you can get pre-packaged (to-go) salsas, pickled onions, limes, etc etc etc. the salsas are tomatillo, habanero, and jalapeño (I believe) You can order margaritas to go, which we did! Cheers!!
