Had an excellent experience at La Caravella! Everything was top class and couldn't have been happier with our pick of restaurant for dinner. Walking in, you can tell that this place is definitely upscale but rustic at the same time. All the seating is outdoors and you're located in between buildings in a kind of courtyard setting. The staff are all very professional and courteous as well and have an in depth knowledge of the menu. Starting off you get a complimentary basket of different types of fresh bread along with parmesan butter and also a tuna meatball. The bread was fresh, airy, and light and the meatball was full of flavor and the sauce complimented the tuna meatball very well. We then got our drinks which were ugo spritz. They were super light, refreshing and delicious. And then we received our main courses. I ordered their sea bass fillet and my girlfriend ordered their fresh egg pappardelle pasta with citrus flavored hare. The sea bass was delicious! Very light but packed with flavor and no fishy taste. The pasta was delicious too. There was delicate balance of savory and sweet. Wasn't too heavy but was enough to fill you up and overall a very refined dish. It was also my first time trying rabbit so I didn't know what to expect but this dish was definitely the best way to get started if you've never had rabbit before. Overall amazing experience and I would definitely recommend!

Our first meal in venice. After a long flight we found this restaurant using the Happy Cow app. We were seated promptly. The outside patio was pleasant. Service was amazing. Food was very well prepared and presented very nicely. Waiter knew the vegan items on the menu and had food prepared to our taste. Overall great experience.

We found this little cafe/restaurant/bar while we were strolling down a street near our hotel. We noticed a few small tables outside at about 12:30 pm on a Wednesday; but since they were all full we ventured inside the bar area. Here there was a small bar and about 5-6 additional small tables. We were told to seat ourselves. We said we just wanted a drink because we were waiting to check-in to our hotel; and we were promptly given drink menus. For a small establishment there was an extensive list of cocktails, wine, and beers. My husband ordered a beer and I wanted a traditional Italian drink. I saw that they had Aperol Spritzes on the menu; but what really caught my eye was the Caravella Aperol Spritz which was made with passion fruit. It was a few euros more, $12, but really worth it! So glad that this was my first drink in Italy....,cool, refreshing, and full of delicious flavor! (And colorful). The service was quick with several waiters/waitresses busily hustling around. There was also a constant stream of patrons coming in for a meal, or just drink like us. One of the little perks that we really enjoyed was a complimentary dish of assorted snacks that was delivered before we even got our drinks. (Potato chips, peanuts, and some type of yummy crackers or pita chips.). I read in previous reviews that La Caravella had earned a Michelin Star in 2018.....we will definitely have to be back to see if the food is as good as the drinks & service in the bar.

A small place with great service! We ended up at the Caravella by accident, not knowing where to go and just wanting to seat down and enjoy a glass of wine. Needless to say, the service was excellent, we had Prosecco and Chardonnay, both were delicious! I want to mention the waitress, she was very pleasant and knew exactly how to serve the wine. Btw, if you a tourist and are thinking that this place is overpriced, don't do it! We paid €35 for a bottle of Prosecco, I think that for the location and service that's perfectly reasonable!

Stopped here along our walk sight seeing. They have a restaurant and bar. We sat at the bar seating since it was a quick bite for us. Yummy wine and decent pizza!

I came to Hotel Saturnia for a vacation in venice. We chose to stop by the bar and eat. First off, amazing service, great food, but then we got to meet the waiters and the bartenders. Truly some of the most amazing people in Italy, they make you smile and always greet you with one. If you are coming to Venice, I recommend you at least pass by.

This was our favorite place in Venice. We enjoyed it so much we made a 2nd reservation for the following night. I got the eggplant Parmesan and loved it so much I ordered it again the 2nd day. We loved the servers and the environment was upscale, yet comfortable. As we continued on our journey we continued to recommend this place to people traveling through Venice.

Once inside they have a couple tables with small window views of any gondolas passing by. We started off with a plate of lightly fried sardines topped with pickled white onions. The fry on the fish was super light and those vinegar-y onions were the perfect pairing. We cleaned that plate. The lasagna was well balanced with the meat, sauce, cheese. The squid ink pasta was chewy/al dente with a subtle touch of seafood flavors giving the cuttlefish. It was very umami but nothing too overbearing. Delicious! The jovial mood with the waiters with big personalities is gone. The menu you can find online is no longer available so you get a very limited menu to choose from--nearly entirely seafood. So if you have anyone in your party that just wants pasta with a red meat sauce or a non seafood lasagne, not available. We were a party of 8. Two people ordered the scallop appetizers. Pretty presentation on shells. 3 tiny scallops in the shells. More like an amuse bouche. Totally disappointing. The linguine with clams as an entree had clams so small you almost needed a magnifying glass to see them. Couldn't taste the clams and annoying to try to eat something so tiny , and just try to eat the pasta with all those tiny shells. The baby shrimp on polenta was actually good. But again the shrimp were like tiny hatchlings tempura battered. Tasted okay except for those that were soggy from the polenta that was very soupy. I wanted the gnocchi with crab which was on the very limited menu but no longer available. The alternative was gnocchi with a sea bass sauce which I chose but didn't like at all. The gnocchi were good but the sauce wasn't at all for me. We had to continue to ask for side dishes for the bread, butter, olive oil, salt and pepper. We will not return. Poor value for your money. Plus there is a cover charge and service included in your bill which was a surprise. Very sad to see our favorite Venetian restaurant decline so much.

But what they've created can be a very fun experience if approached with the right attitude. Come during daylight hours, hopefully late afternoon (for lunch/drinks/appetizers) and sit only at an outside table along the Grand Canal. Situated near the bridge to Piazza Romolo, Rio Novo isn't on a very attractive part of the canal. Ignore the mass of people hurrying back to the bridge to catch their bus to who knows where. Look only at the canal. This might be the busiest, most intensely crowded part of the Grand Canal and it's a gas to watch. Motorboats kicking up wake, tourists on private water taxis making their way to a more attractive part of town and, once in a while some gondoliers taking passengers in a part of the canal far from serene. Is all of this fun to watch? Indeed. The staff here aims to please and will happily grab your camera and wait patiently for pedestrians to pass by before snapping a few dozen photos of you enjoying the place. After your meal, the server will return with an ice cold, complimentary Limoncello for you. And the food and drink? Very reasonably priced and satisfying (we enjoyed both spaghetti and lasagna), especially when you throw in the waterfront entertainment. There's a million prettier canal-adjacent restaurants, pricier and run by Italians. That said, Rio Novo is a fun place from which to enjoy the hustle-bustle of the canal along with well-priced, satisfying food and drink.

So we came here for an early dinner (around 5pm), kitchen is open through! Took a nice table inside by the window. Our Bulldog was welcome as well. Staff/owner very friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome here. Inside it's a nice, cosy atmosphere. Good selection of wine on the menu as well. For all kinds of budgets. And at the counter a nice display of all kinds of seafood. Lovely place. We've ordered the Crudo di Mare plate and Spaghetti Vongole. And a .375ml bottle of their white house wine, which turned out to be a good pairing with the seafood. Both dishes were excellent! Plenty of Vongole (clams) in the pasta dish, Spaghetti were perfectly cooked. Vongole were nice and fresh and the dish perfectly spiced (not too much, which is good). A real highlight definitely the Crudo di Mare. Two langoustines (so nice and sweet flavour), two red shrimp. scallops, tuna, swordfish, oysters and tuna tartare. All fresh, all tasty. An excellent mix of wonderful fish and seafood. Quality wise along on top with the best ones we've had so far (we love Crudo di Mare). And all is nicely presented. Really made our day, this meal here. After the meal we even got some aperitif on the house. A wonderful place. Feels very relaxed, lots of great items on the menu. And really fair prices, this is a real gem here with great value. And we will definitely be back next time in Venice. Highly recommended!
