The food was very good, one of the few places that do Pollo Magnifico well. The "New" Enchilada platter and it was great. The chips were thin and crispy, the salsa had a good flavor. The cheese dip was very good, a little runny for my taste, but tasted good. The ambiance was good, it was Cinco De Mayo so it was kinda crazy, but the staff made everyone feel welcome. The service was the best we have had in a long time. Emiliano was great. He did not try and rush us through out meal. Ive been going to this restaurant for quite some time. This time, it took them 5 minutes to seat us when there was multiple tables available. Service was pretty slow and it seemed like we were ignored when tried to get the servers attention. He clearly saw us and kept walking. Didn't comeback to the table for about 10 minutes. Myself and a friend went for lunch and I had the lunchtime nachos. They're really served differently than anyplace I've been to before, each one is individually served rather than in a pile with the guacamole and sour cream in the middle on lettuce. I'm relatively picky about guac and I feel like it's typically a let down at most Tex mex restaurants but their guac is everyone loved their food minus my dad who got carnitas and said it was a bit chewy & overcooked. While this isn't the best Mexican Restaurant that we have eaten at, it is by far the best one I have had in the immediate area. Their food is fantastic, the quality was great and would easily make a top 10 list for me personally. We enjoyed everything about it from the quality of the food, to cleanliness of the restaurant, and its location. The staff were fast and super nice. After having been at the house for 2 months due to COVID, this was a fantastic first eating out selection by my wife (yes, my wife actually made a decision on a restaurant). If you're in the area and craving Mexican food, I definitely recommend this place. Side note: super good salsa taste but not spicy at all. read more

A local advised us that this is their favorite. I can see why. Large variety. Salsa was fresh and very good. White cheese dip had some spinach in it, which was different, but still yummy. Almost gringo dip like if you're familiar with 54th St., but not as good as that, come on that gringo is fire. The enchilada and tacos were good and the Chili rellenos was cooked perfectly. Man it was wonderful. It had a similar feel as La Mesa and El Magay, but this food was way tastier! Prices were typical...12-15 per plate, 7 for the cheese dip....it was a big bowl, 3 a soda. But today, for the first time since first coming here, my wife and I walked out. We arrived before the dinner rush were promptly seated and served our chips and salsa. Then nothing. We visited La Carreta on a hot Saturday afternoon after having heard many good things about it's sister location in Gardner. It didn't disappoint. What a great surprise to find delicious Mexican food in Lansing ... in a strip mall. Then interior of La Carreta is simple, bright and very clean. The decor is appropriate, but not over the top "Mexican restaurant." The chips are fresh and served with a very tasty mild salsa. We had heard that, if you ask, they had a hot salsa as well. If you like spice, you should definitely ask for it. They have several beers on tap plus a large variety of mixed drinks and specialty margaritas. The food at La Carreta was very good, on par with anything I've had anywhere on SW Blvd. in KC. Everything was fresh and prepared well. The pork tacos de barbacoa I had hit the spot and went well with my cold schooner of Dos Equis Amber. All in all, a great experience with well done food and drinks.
