Excellent service and the best food and Margherita so far!! The Margherita was excellent, even the chicken fingers our kids ate were excellent!

Victor and Miguel are super friendly. The garlic shrimp was so fresh and good that we got second plate. Mushroom for appetizer also had a lot of flavor.

Best Margaritas and shrimp taco's in PV. Happy hour 4-5

It's great when you stumble upon a place, it's even better if you keep going back, it is amazingly delicious. Happy hour is from 4 to 5, 2 x 1 Margaritas, hand made, no mix used, by Victor or his wife Marcila. No salt, just the most amazing nectar of the gods. Our dinner. In a few years we have tried most all of the items on the menu. We have yet to have something we have not enjoyed. La Casa has a new cook, Tony, he prepared Marcilas recipes to perfection. Mahi Al Pastor- Fresh grilled pineapple paired with fresh Mahi seasoned with pastor spices. Rice pilaf, tortillas, and salad with herbed vinaigrette. Shrimp Tacos - paper thin breading on large cleaned shrimp. Shredded cabbage, carrots, red sauce, fresh warmed grilled tortilla, and large shrimp. Shrimp Alhijo - Amazing. Garlic, spice, Alhijo sliced peppers, cleaned shrimp. Served with rice, salad, and grilled bread. Frozen Lime pie - cookie crust, frozen limey goodness, drizzle of chocolate. Victor's sense of humor may not be for everyone, but we enjoy it, he is hilarious. Will be back soon!

First night here was amazing, our return trip not so much We showed up ar happy hour , 2 for 1 margaritas , we ordered fish and chips and dessert. The owner was sitting with two women and I heard him say Happy hour was over but he would give them two more anyway. We ordered 3 rounds all between 4 and 5 which was the advertised time. When we got our check it was full price for all 3, when asked he said he didn't know what time it was, he then said we only ordered two during happy hour even though he didn't know what time it was supposedly. He then said that only cheap people like those two ladies come drink during happy hour and he times their orders, he insinuated we were cheap as well even though we spent a lot of money the night before and left a great tip. Not sure what happened from one night to the next but we will never return which sucks because we fell in love with the place

They make fantastic food! I absolutely love this place, the atmosphere, the owners and their cooking. Since discovering this place, we came here to eat at least once a day, our entire vacation. I am a vegetarian, and it's never easy to find a great selection of good vegetarian dishes while being in Mexico. Victor (the owner) and his wife came up with such good food that I can't get enough of it. Everything is fresh, high quality, creative and super tasty. I will always come here to eat when visiting Puerto Vallarta. Plus Victor is a unique and funny character, he reminds me of Anthony Quinn. You get a show too

Service is awesome. We were treated like we were special guests. Food was great and it was very reasonable.

My lovely husband and I came across this whole in the wall place, and let me just say that not only did it NOT DISAPPOINT but blew me away!!! Victor the owner was a complete astounding person to be around, his character may seem very intense but he's a super sweet man!!!! Everything from the food to the drinks were made from scratch, and honestly walking into his restaurant was the best decision I made that day! Id give this place 10 stars if I could! The Chicken and Mushrooms, and Lemon pie is a must to try!!! Thank you Victor

There are places that simply serve food--and then there are places that become part of your story…read more Pepe's Tacos is exactly that for me. Having come here since I was 10 years old, this iconic taquería isn't just a local favorite--it's a timeless institution that continues to define what truly exceptional tacos should be. Since 1987, Pepe's has built a reputation that extends far beyond Puerto Vallarta, and one visit is all it takes to understand why. The star of the show--their legendary tacos al pastor--is nothing short of extraordinary. The pork is expertly marinated and cooked to perfection, resulting in meat that is incredibly juicy, tender, and bursting with deep, savory flavor. Each slice is carved with precision and layered onto warm tortillas, creating a perfect foundation for what comes next. What truly elevates these tacos is the balance of toppings. The sweetness of the pineapple and the sharpness of the fresh onions cut through the richness of the meat beautifully, enhancing every bite with contrast and complexity. It's a masterclass in simplicity done right--every ingredient playing its role to perfection. Beyond the food, the experience itself is just as memorable. The service is impressively fast and efficient, especially considering how popular this spot is, and there's an undeniable energy in the air that makes it feel alive at all hours. It's the kind of place you can count on for a late-night bite, where the atmosphere is casual, vibrant, and always welcoming. Pepe's Tacos isn't about reinvention or trend--it's about consistency, tradition, and delivering excellence time and time again. Decades later, it still holds its place as one of the best taco spots in Puerto Vallarta, and for good reason. Some things never change--and when they're this good, they absolutely shouldn't.

Out front, the trompo spins over charcoal fire, hand turned, on display to the street. The man at the blade is a performer, part craftsman, part showman. He hones his knife between razor thin shavings of al pastor, then in a reflexive flourish nips the pineapple crowning the meat, sending a sliver flying only to catch it with a tortilla. It is theater, but it is also instinct. Inside, the crowd looks like the United Nations. A tour group from India next to a Dutch family with half a dozen kids in tow, the Canadians eye the Americans with deserved suspicion, and a few locals whose plates are piled high while tourists settle for modest portions. It is the natural order of things, and nobody complains. The charcoal scent in the meat makes clear this is al pastor's intended preparation. I have never had the pleasure of eating from a coal fired trompo before, and it is instantly apparent that this is the way it was meant to be. Someday, somehow, I will rig one of these up, because I need this in my life. Pepe's is not just a taco shop. It is a master class in tradition, theater, and flavor, with a dining room that feels like the world gathered around one spit.

While the wait can be a bit unpredictable, it's usually not too long, especially during the summer. However, if you visit in the winter, it can take a while. The food here is reasonably priced and the portions are generous. The only thing that confuses me is the fruit water of the day. The cups are incredibly small, and for 30 pesos, I expected more. I've noticed that some tables have their water refilled, while others have been changed. I'm not sure if this is a policy or just a coincidence. The service is okay, but nothing extraordinary. They have a limited number of tables and don't have air conditioning, so it can get quite hot inside and outside. However, you're here to eat and go, so don't expect a sit-down experience. One important thing to note is that they only accept cash. So, make sure to bring some pesos with you.

It's thicker, more cheesy than what I've ever had before and very delicious. We paired that with the prime rib tacos, it was a plate stacked with meat and 4 tortillas under it, more than we could eat. The seasoning was great, it was diced so small that it was easy to eat. The ribeye had so much fat that we had to pick through it just to eat it. The al pastor was very average - I've had much better at plenty of other taco spots. The biggest disappointment was the chorizo. It wasn't traditional chorizo at all; it looked and tasted more like chopped-up hot dogs. We barely touched it because it wasn't what we ordered expecting, and it just wasn't good. The presentation also wasn't appealing. The meat was simply piled on top of two tortillas, making everything messy and difficult to eat. They were also pretty stingy with the grilled jalapeños. The salsas didn't do the food any favors either. None of them really stood out, and the green guacamole salsa actually tasted like it had gone bad, so we stopped eating it. Service was attentive, but almost too attentive. Staff kept coming by every few minutes to ask if we were finished or if we needed anything. While I appreciate good service, it made us feel like we were being rushed through our meal instead of being able to enjoy it at our own pace. Overall, I don't understand the high ratings based on our experience. With so many amazing taco spots in Puerto Vallarta, this one didn't come close to meeting the hype. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.
