Plus, this shopfront is small and not particularly descript so you might walk right by it if you were not searching for it. However, if you know better, you will find a reason to pause, duck in, and take a break! There are small tables within to eat there but there is only 1 at the shop front window alcove. If you time it right, you can grab this table and stuff your pie hole with local sausages, cured meats, and Spanish wine, beer or Vermouth while watching Madridian life pass you by. There may not be a better way to ruin what could have been an otherwise productive day! The menu is substantial but is largely made up of combinations of the various cured meats and cheeses that the shop is known for. Unlike spots that promote only Iberian ham and Manchego cheese, Casa González has all manner of meats and cheeses so it is a fantastic spot to go to for variety within this genre. I think that only strict vegans will be angered by what is on offer here. I recommend Casa Gonzalez for a meat and cheese orgy if you are in the area. They have been doing this since 1931 so you know that they have a winning formula.

The dipping chocolate was nice and rich and the churros have a crispy exterior and chewy interior. Nice and light and didn't tasty too greasy. Definitely recommend the chocolate churros here!

The new place has a bit more room, bathroom and kitchen downstairs, fresh new decor, comfy cosy, and wifi! You can order at the table with the QR code using their wifi. Or if you didn't realize like I did, you can certainly order from the wait staff. We were there in the morning, so only noticed the breakfast side of the menu. But it seems they also serve drinks and snacks for later afternoon/evening. There is also a freezer of ice creams sold by the scoop for when it's too hot for a hot chocolate. We ordered two hot chocolates and a combo churro and porra to share. It was just the right amount of chocolate and crispy yummy vehicle. Service was excellent. English is no problem. We fell in love with those so we stopped by this place to check it out and brought back some goodies. The stuff we bought (seen in the picture) looked really good but but it turned out to be just too sweet for us. I wish they'd provide samples as I can't imagine spending what we spent.
