I am 75 , I have eaten a lot of Mexican food but I never expected to find the best Mexican in havelock North Carolina at casa patron , Antonio was on top of everything, fast efficient, courteous, my food, I got the 12,inch chicken fajita burrito with rice and beans was bite for bite the tastiest one I have ever had , the closest was one from El Indio in San Diego , what really impressed me is that they had a salsa bar where u could taste all of the various salsas , great idea, I picked a cremey jalapeño, mmmmm, a very reasonably priced meal topped off with a small coke and delicious black coffee, I plan on coming back to this spotless establishment read more

My husband and I went to eat after it was recommended for us to go. We had excellent service and were seated immediately. The salsa and warm refried beans that came with chips were the perfect start to our meal. I ordered shrimp Chimichangas and my husband got the fajitas and both were flavorful and large portions. Per usual, he ordered some extra tortillas to go. We both had leftovers and they even reheated nicely. I ordered a mango margarita and he chose a pina colada and those were also delicious. I am here now and we have a party of 10 and they won't seat us because two are at the hotel next door changing clothes and will be here shortly. Even though the rest of us are here and ready to order plenty of drinks. We will be here a long time (in town visiting friends we havnt seen in forever) and order a lot, but due to their policy they can't seat us til the last two are here! Food is great service was terrible. My waitress was very unpleasant. We went out for my friend's birthday and asked for the birthday treat. The lady yelled at me when asked not only did she yell loud enough that the tables beside us were staring but one of my friends caught her talking about us in Spanish. When i asked to speak with the manager no one went to get them. The lady said her name was Bernita i'm not sure if that is correct. She has been rude on several other occasions and i assumed it was she was having a bad day. Nonetheless as someone who also works in a restaurant that is not how you treat your guest. Mexican food at its best seems to be the same nearly everywhere one goes or at least that's what we thought. La Casa is not in that thought process and it starts with the salsa and chips they immediately bring to the table. The salsa is made with TLC, and is unlike what you receive in most Mexican restaurants. I have to say that their recipe for salsa is outstanding and one can't get enough. The decor and ambience is typical of Mexican restaurants. Staff is professional and helpful. Now to the food without reservations this restaurant prepares their dishes with lots of thought and care by resulting in a pleasant and delicious food and dining experience. There is a full bar serving a variety of of tequila specialties as well as beer and liquor. Can't say enough good about our experience and look forward to going back. Delicious. I stared with a peach margarita. It was so good and had a kick. The chips and salsa were good, chips were warm. Hands down best table-side guacamole ever! I could have easily eaten two bowls myself just as a meal! Plus it doesn't hurt the chips are toasty warm The portions are so generous that each of us had leftovers for the next day! They were just as delicious which speaks to the quality of their food! I had the Pollo Loco, because I was looking for something a little spicy. While it's marinated in smoky chipotle, I didn't find it too spicy...but I have a high heat tolerance. My husband had the California style burrito and added their queso which was super fresh & super delicious! Our friend had the chicken quesadilla which included a roasted poblano pepper that was magically delicious! Her husband had the Senor Burrito and said it was the best he's ever had! Since this was a work night, we didn't get into the Margaritas, but boy did they look & sound tempting! I THOUGHT I new what LCDP was like because I wrote the original review thinking it would be like any other Mexican restaurant. Boy was I wrong!! Because from the moment you're warmly greeted with "Hola!" to the "Adios" when you leave, you WILL have a complete great time! The food is always excellent, extremely reasonable, fast, hot, and delivered with a smile. Want to modify a dish or exclude or include more of something? No problema! I've eaten here dozens of times, mostly for lunch, and have never had a problem. I'm pretty sure if I did, the staff would solve it quickly and happily! No food pics because there are plenty in the reviews. But my favorite is the taco salad. It makes me feel a little less guilty for when I eat the entire basket of chips AND inhale all the salsa and warm bean dip! Tonight was amazing. The carne asada fajitas for 2 was so much steak and veggies. Hubby had all 3 of his corn tortillas I had 2 and still enough for lunch for both tomorrow. Very delicious. The nacho supreme was well....supreme. My son's big chimichanga was delicious and gone quickly. My daughter in law was surprised with birthday song sombrero and a HUGE dulce de leche fried ice cream dessert that we all gobbled down. The best part was the waiter Chuey. He was friendly, attentive, happy and kind. Our 3 year old granddaughter was smitten and he engaged her each visit to the table and took pics with both our girls. Had to get a new tire for the rental vehicle across the street. So, we walked on over. The salsa is good and the restaurant is clean and cute. We all enjoyed our lunch. Fajitas were of the smaller portion and didn't come with sour cream or guacamole. I will say the Mexican rice was really good. Waiter and staff are nice. Quick to provide refills.
