La Casa offers a unique style of pizza (Neopolitan) that I have yet to find elsewhere in Omaha, so don't expect something you are familiar with. Dine with an open mind. If you do not like sharp cheese then this may not be the place for you. I grew up in Omaha and currently reside in Denver. When I return to Omaha, La Casa is always on my checklist of places to eat. In college I would transport Take-And-Bakes back to Denver when I traveled by car. I recommend doing carry-out and BRING CASH as they do not accept credit cards. I love this place. My family has been getting takeout here since it opened. But lately the service has been disappointing. For the second time in a month, the woman who took our order messed it up. Didn't repeat it back. Given I'm a vegetarian, having meat on my side made it inedible. I was really clear in my order, so she wasn't listening. Went on a Friday, the place was packed and the smells coming from this place were amazing. Service was quick and extremely friendly. However the pizza and ravioli bites we ordered were all around just bland and not at all what I expected. I'm wondering if this is more of a "I grew up on it" nostalgic place. so very disappointed -been a loyal customers for 50 years-when there on a Saturday nite several weeks ago with my wife--ordered a salad and toasted ravioli. Was very good and the tomato sauce for dipping was as good as any.We ordered a medium pizza-after watching orders being served that were ordered after us, I went up to the counter and ask them what's the delay?? A young server went in the back and then up to the counter to tell me it was almost ready.After a 30 minute wait out came the pizza. It was STEAMING... It was a small round pizza, not a medium, and BURNT. It appears that they forgot about us.For $45 not acceptable. It never should have been brought out!!I took it up to the counter,and had 3 people looking at it-My wife followed me and said let's go-i assume that they would have made it good, but maybe i didn't give them a chance. I wrote them a letter reviewing what had transpired, saying as a LOYAL customer i would write a review. I've eaten many brands of pizzas and this pizza was average. I'll admit the pizza was hot, when I picked it up and was a juicy looking pizza, but the taste of the tomato sauce was different from other pizzas, it tasted like a marinara sauce. And I could taste Romano cheese with the mozzarella the sausage was good/ with a little spice at the end. Many people like their pizza, but it's not my cup of tea. We have been customers since the 90's, most recent visit was last week. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Some of our favorites are the mostaccioli and meatballs, the fried ravioli, lasagna, and the thin crust hamburger pizza. The lasagna for two is more like a lasagna for four, you will have leftovers. They recently started taking credit/debit which was a welcome change as the checks/cash only was a bit of a hassle. An Omaha staple and I'm sure we will be customers for years to come. read more

Favorite pizza in Omaha. Hands down. Authenic Italian taste and awesome crunchy thin crust. My personal favorite is the hamburger pizza and this coming from somebody who usually prefers pepperoni. All of my friends in Omaha say this place has the best pizza. I decided to give this place a try after many years of avoidance. First bad part, they don't take credit cards. I never understand this unless I am in a small ethnic place. We got some onion rings and they were bland, although homemade with a good crunch. The pizza was bad. They have limited toppings, so we got their "specially" seasoned hamburger, green peppers, mushrooms, onions, and black olives. The corners of the pizza were burnt, otherwise the crust was fine. The "special" hamburger was tasteless. The only thing I could taste was the black olives. I will not be back. read more

My girlfriend and I see this place from the trail we bike on. She used to eat there in high school and said we should try it sometime. So, we stopped in after a bike ride last night. To Start, The establishment itself is very nice. It looks like a brand new building really. Comfortable seating and it looked to have plenty of room to move around comfortably. There were only 2 other parties there including us so if it was packed it might be a little more difficult to move around and get to the cash register and fountain drinks. I want to know where the people are eating pizza at (or food in general) that are saying this pizza is the best in town or giving it five stars and saying that you HAVE to try to this place. Don't get me wrong it isn't terrible food. It just isn't all that a couple of the reviews make it out be! That is why I didn't give it one star because I could eat there again. I just won't. First, they don't take debit/credit cards. I can understand a small place that just opened and/or isn't doing a ton of business yet not taking a card, but from the prices for what you get here there shouldn't be a problem paying the fees for the card machines... This however is a minor detail and if they don't wish to take cards then that is fine. Just remember to bring cash or your check book. Secondly, our order consisted of: toasted Ravioli, large pizza (which would be considered a small and a half to a medium (compared to other pizzas), and four beers. Before seeing the food that we got I would have expected to pay maybe to pay $35-$40. After it came out I was left wondering where the rest of the pizza and toppings were and where all the meat was in the ravioli. $44 is what our tab was. Had it not been for the ravioli I would have still been hungry after splitting a "large" pizza with a girlfriend that doesn't eat a lot anyways... For a "large" pizza to cost $22.50 I would expect it to be loaded with toppings and to be taking some of it home. I took a little less than half home. But, as I said we had a full order of toasted ravioli that was more airspace in the middle than meat. The pizza wasn't bad by any means. It just lacked a lot of toppings, size, and flavor to justify a $22.50 price tag for a large... The staff for the most part was helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was quiet and inviting. I could definitely eat here again but I doubt I'll ever walk through their doors again. I couldn't justify spending that kind of money, on the quality and portion size of food we got. Especially when I could go down the road to Roman Coin, Pudgy's, or Old Chicago and get a hands down better pizza for about the same price if not less and get more food for my money. read more

I've heard about this pizza for years. Just tried it for the first time. My girlfriend said the mauve (pinkish) colored walls made her want to yak (not a good first impression). When the pizza got there, we were looking at a sad, sad pile of grease on a big cracker. It tasted as bad as it looked. We could have saved time and money by ordering Dominos or waiting until 2 a.m. for some night flight. La Casa has been my family's favorite pizza place since I was a little girl. With good reason. You simply can't go wrong with either their pepperoni or their hamburger pizza (we like them with both cheeses - Parmesan and mozzarella). Their mostaccioli and meatballs are also spectacular. This is my favorite pizza and I prefer this location to Leavenworth. La Casa seems to be either a love or hate for most but it's a must try. I prefer the Quattro Formaggi or hamburger with both cheeses. This is the best pizza in town and it isn't open to debate. With that said, do not expect great service and they don't take cards. I think you either love their pizza or dislike it. I love it, I crave it, I can't live without it, I have to eat it at least once a month. 84th St. makes a far superior pizza then Leavenworth. The Leavenworth location makes a thick soggy crust that is hard to digest. I like it when the crust is thin as a cracker. The only change in the pizza I have noticed in the many decades of my consumption is they quit using Stella cheese. It has effected the taste of the pizza and I would prefer to pay more for a better tasting pizza. My husband is one of those people who complains about their prices so I solved the problem by not purchasing any for him. I purchase a small pizza and then I have two dinners for myself taken care of. :) I never eat in the restaurant because I think their drink prices are outrageous, as they are in most restaurants. We ate here with large group after baseball tournament and the staff was very friendly & accommodating. Boys had personal pizzas which they devoured. We ate meat lovers and it was SO good! If I could rate this place a zero, I would. Price: Expensive Service: 0 out of 5 Food: 0 out of 5 Where to start... We came to La Casa to eat with our 3 boys (10,8,5) and my parents after our boys swim meet across the street. It was 8:30 and everyone was starving hoping to grab a quick dinner. SERVICE: Awful experience. I have never experienced a staff and manager argue with their customers and not give up. My parents ordered 2 pizzas for the table and a large salad for my wife, 2 beers and a glass of wine. Bill was $65. I went up to order another large salad for the table to share. The staff argued with me telling me that we didn't need another salad since my wife ordered the large table size. I kept telling them it was the only thing she will be eating and I wanted another large salad for the table to share. After arguing back and forth, they took my order for another large salad. I paid $10 for the large salad. Later, the order comes out with one large salad (my wife's) and a small personal salad. I went back up with small salad and explained that we should have 2 large salads as my parents paid for one on the original ticket and I paid for another. After some arguing, they brought us back another large salad. I thought we were over the salad issue. A few minutes later, the manager comes out and tells us we owe him $6.50 for the upgrade in salad. We explained again that we paid for two larges and they screwed up. He went left the table then came back to our table two more times telling us we owed him money. I have NEVER had such POOR SERVICE, especially from a manager. It's bad enough to have a server or order taker to be incompetent and mess up an order or argue with a customer but rarely do you see a manager act this way. Absolutely ridiculous. FOOD: Salad - Great if you want to pay $10 for Styrofoam box filled with lettuce with a few olives and a couple hot peppers. Very basic and overpriced. Pizza: - We ordered two pizzas: 1: Double crusted hamburger - my boys were excited to order to this. When it came out, it was nothing like we expected. It was basically a crust wrapped with very greasy hamburger in the middle. Very little sauce and no cheese. None on my boys finished one piece. My middle son woke up this AM with a terrible stomach ache from the grease. We threw away the leftovers as it was so grouse. 2: Vegge with sausage - for the adults. The pizza was brought out on a cafeteria tray, which was a little odd and not appetizing. The pizza was not good. My mother said it was the worst pizza she's ever had. I've had worse but it was in the ballpark of the worst I've had. Atmosphere: Cafeteria like setting. Cool pictures on the wall but that's about it. I love this pizza. It is an Omaha favorite and yes as many people can't get over they don't take credit cards. They must not drive because the DMV doesn't take credit cards either. Sad to write this but I have had it with the bad customer service at this location. I grew up eating at the La Casa on Leavenworth Street. We moved closer to this one on Grover, thought it would be similar. The pizza is really good-I used to think Leavenworth was better but now I like this one. However, the customer service is non-existent on Grover Street. I am not asking for hugs and kisses but a smile or a thank you after spending $56 for a large and medium pizza and a half order of rings and ravis would be nice. Plus, the gal hollers out my name and tosses the pizzas on the counter. This happens almost every single time-rude when I call in, rude when I pick up. I kept going back because I love the pizza-and ever the optimist, I thought if I was continually pleasant, being a repeat customer, they might give a smile or say a thank you. Nopers. Tonight, my husband was in there to pick up and he said never again-they were so rude. Love La Casa's! I've been eating La Casa pizza for 30 years. I remember the first time I tried it I was like the other first time reviewers here - I didn't get what all the praise was about and really didn't care if I had it again. I was 13 at the time I first had La Casa. My girlfriend's family loved it. It was the only pizza they ordered. Since I was hanging out at her house a lot, was usually hungry and didn't have money to buy my own pizza, I ate a lot of La Casa. It grows on you. You develop a taste for good pizza, just like you develop a taste for good wine. Sure there are a lot of people out there who think Domino's is good (no offense to Doms - I eat that too) and two buck chuck is good wine. But after you have good pizza and good wine your realize there is a difference. The pizza is square and flat so it doesn't look like normal pizzas. Second, they use romano chees so it doesn't taste like mozzarella pizzas. I recommend if you don't love it immediately; try it a couple times and see if you develop a taste. I always order half hamburger half pepperoni (not mixed) and both cheeses - romano and mozzarella. I also order onion rings - very good, it's best to eat them at the restaurant. If I pickup, most of the rings are gone by the time I get home. 84th street isn't the only location. The Leavenworth location has much better ambiance if you dine in. read more

Been going to LaCasa for years (50 years if not more). It's the greatest. Love everything there - pizza, ravioli, spaghetti. The Romano cheese is what make it so special. Or is it the thin crust. Or is it the little burnt areas! I just know that the corner are mine! Love both locations - Leavenworth & Grover. Locally own and priceless! Try the location on Leavenworth, the original! They take credit cards and the atmosphere is wonderful. You won't be disappointed. I don't know why the Grover location is different, but it is. I think the food and service are much better at the Leavenworth location. read more
