Came here for a little appetizer and drink while waiting for a wine tour. We ordered the appetizer quesadilla /chimichanga and the queso. We were NOT fans of the queso. But the quesadilla was pretty good. The drinks were pretty tasty as well. I would recommend this spot.

On a day exploring downtown Sonoma, I walked the square and started feeling hungry. Mexican sounded great and this place popped up nearby. I had a nice experience here; inside was festive and dark. I opted to sit outside on the courtyard deck to enjoy the sunshine. They have a solid menu with lots of delicious options. I chose one of the combo plates with rice and beans. Prices were reasonable, the staff was super attentive, and food tasted great! It was also super quick to receive the food after ordering.

Crispy tacos, queso fundido, and yummy margaritas. All excellent.

We always stop at this restaurant when visiting Sonoma, and highly recommend it! Exceptionally great, authentic Mexican food at reasonable prices. Excellent customer service. Classic and very clean dining area, with a gorgeous small patio in back. And the margaritas are yummy!

Had a leisurely day walking around Sonoma Plaza and stopped here for lunch. It was a REALLY quiet day in Sonoma so the restaurant was almost empty. The friendly staff member greeted us and let us choose we're to sit. We chose a window seat with a view of the mission. We ordered the chicken tortilla soup, ensalada de la casa, beef soft tacos (plain) and a side of rice. Everything was yummy.

Grab quick lunch after wine testing, we came to La casa because I know they have outdoor seating and we have our dogs. Not too busy when we come over, food hot and fresh made, portion not to big I think just right, server so friendly.

La Casa Restaurant and Bar is the perfect place to cool off on a hot day and take a break from wine drinking. We enjoyed their variety of margaritas and chips. I had the stuffed chili relleno full of cheese, spinach, prawns, and topped with chili verde and salsa fresco. The taco salad with steak was huge and full of meat! The shrimp a la Diablo was flavorful but lacking in any spiciness (which it should be spicy). The refried beans and rice are delish! Service was attentive and quick! Highly recommend!

I used yelp to find this place and I was concerned It received mixed reviews and I tried it anyway We really enjoyed it. I think the highlight was their guacamole and chips and let me add: salsa. The food was typical Mexican but done very well and the service was exceptional. I ordered the prickly pear spicy margarita with tajin rim and found it very boozy. Which for me wasn't a good thing, however, I think the majority would agree that they put the extra alcohol in it and you would enjoy it. So 5-stars for that! I had the Chile Relleno and hubby a burrito. Very good.

Underwhelming experience overall. The food was basic and lacked flavor -- the veggie relleno had no salt, and the crab enchilada tasted far from fresh. Chips and salsa weren't complimentary, which would've been fine if the rest of the experience made up for it, but it didn't. Service was extremely slow, and no one checked on us throughout the meal. Staff seemed to be moving around aimlessly with no attention to guests. Unfortunately, it's a miss -- won't be coming back.

Sigh. Yes, it is standard that if your party is 6 or more people, an automatic gratuity of %18 will be included... however, this will ensure that your waitress will put in little to no effort. Food was ok, but disappointed with the box Spanish rice and no heat salsa.

Yum yum yum!!! Girls trip 1st night dinner in Sonoma and it was a great choice! Making an online reservation was quick & easy. The staff seated us instantly even though we were a few minutes early. Quick to take our order, appetizers & drinks came out quickly. Entrees followed right behind. Hot and yummy!!! It's a great place for a few drinks and meal with friends and/or family.

We had a lovely time at La Casa. The four of us started out sitting inside but then decided we wanted to sit outside. The staff was happy to accommodate us. We enjoyed the guacamole and chips to start. I had the Dorado crispy tacos which were delicious. The rest in our party had the shrimp fajitas which they loved. Our server was very attentive.

Would give a solid 3.5 if it were an option. Food is always good, paying for chips and salsa is annoying. Their margaritas are always good. Outdoor seating is small but very nice. Service could be a bit more helpful but all in all a good choice.

Mariscos A La Diabla (not pictured is the tails left on the shrimp you have to figure out how to take off when the plate and food it HOT)

This is the worst Mexican restaurant in Sonoma. The only upside was the waitress and staff were attentive and polite but the food was awful. I ordered their fundido which was not fundido. It tasted like someone had heated up a bunch of cheddar cheese in a microwave. I also ordered their mariscos a la diabla and it was just as disappointing. They left the tails on the shrimp, so I had to take these off of the hot shrimp and plate. The sauce wasn't spicy or flavorful. There was some other fish included and I still have no idea what it was, the entire plate was disgusting. I came hungry and left hungry as I could not come close to finishing any of the food. Thank goodness they serve beer since I basically came to drink since the food was inedible.

If they did something to warm up the big room with some plants and art, it would be better. It's pretty dull but the food is good.

It's a small and casual operation - there's a large seating area behind the restaurant with self serve water. Limited parking out front, and the back lot (with the seating) also has some space for parking, but it's not hard to find parking in the surrounding area. The food here is awesome - deep flavors and genuinely a ton of craft in their work (tamales and tortillas made fresh, you can see them making it through the window by the register). The food is pretty classic, but just executed so well - I really don't think you can go wrong. My personal favorites are the mole enchiladas / tamales (gently sweet, smoky mole, not overly chocolatey and really balanced, especially with a side of pickles) and the fish tacos (GIGANTIC).

Since I knew we were going to be passing by, I had to stop in and try it for myself. I ordered a couple of tamales, one chicken mole and one pork. The pork tamale was delicious, and the chicken mole was so good too. I am not usually used to eating mole, but this one was rich, flavorful, and unique. You could really taste the depth in the sauce. I also tried the crispy shrimp tacos, and the shrimp were enormous. They were served on corn tortillas with shredded cabbage and definitely gave me Baja vibes. Overall, everything was delicious, fresh, and made with high quality ingredients. When we arrived, it was packed with a long line, which says a lot. I also loved that they have a grab and go fridge with lots of items to take home. I would definitely go back for more. Great food and friendly staff!

Yesterday was a low key chill day, and we needed a place to just relax and begin to let go of all the stress. The girl and the fig was just right. We are like an hour away from Sonoma, and we been here many times just never together. The restaurant's environment is extremely amazing. We showed up, no previous reservation made,we showed up during their peak hours and they managed to seat us within 5 mins perfectly were we requested. Perfect ambiance to sit, drink, eat and enjoy a beautiful sunset. We started with The Morel mushroom tartare, which is morel mushrooms, with an egg, shallots and chives oil over a perfectly well toasted sourdough. Delicious! The steak tartare did not disappoint either. Great balance of flavor between the two. The mushroom earthy flavors along with a light hint of pesto from the morel tartare really balanced out the richness from the steak tartare. The pickled figs served with in the steak tartare really called my attention as they were delicious as well. That was my first having pickled figs :) The salad was delicious, I am a sucker for cheese and the perfectly ripe figs along with the chèvre cheese truly hit the spot. The wild flounder pouched was the wild surprise! I love a restaurant that preps their seafood just right. I love seafood! And I do not like it when it's over cooked. This dish did not disappoint! It was so rich and delicious. Flaky yet nicely seared on one side full of that citrus flavors along which just enhances fish's flavor once it hits the taste buds! The flounder was served over a bed of mashed potato and spinach. That perfect combination. The drinks were delicious as well. Honestly, the service, the food, the vibe, the sunset it was all perfect. I just didn't order anything that blew me away or that I think is particularly unique or difficult, hence the 4 stars. I came with a group for lunch on a sunny Saturday and sat on the patio. Although there are umbrellas, our specific table was exposed and we were roasting! They were kind enough to relocate us to another part of the patio despite the crowds. Otherwise, it felt bright and cheery! For food, I ordered the fig & arugula salad and the smoked salmon. The salad was a great portion size for a meal (or to share as a side), it was perfectly dressed, and the toppings were proportional & balanced. One of the better salads I've had out! The smoked salmon was good but nothing to write home about. Their house chips are nice and thick, which I like, but a little too salty for me. I'd like to come back up to try the mussels, duck or some other entree next time I'm in the area, though I probably wouldn't go out of my way.
