What a random find! This market stall is run by a woman who dresses like and looks identical to Frida Kahlo. She has such a regal presence, too. It's definitely a raw & edgy local market so it was a little unusual that a stall took things in such a fun & creative direction. Its frequented by locals & some tourists.
The service is great - she offered samples of the different moles & they were all superb. We especially liked the chile relleno de picadillo (chicken, raisins) in almond mole. There was a sopa de nopales that is really good too. Everything there is good.
We asked for desert and they whipped up a grilled plainain (charred in peel) - liked it. read more
