The Leland R. Weaver Library is one of the best community libraries I've visited! Plenty of free parking, including ADA-accessible parking spaces, makes it easy and convenient for everyone to visit. The library has two dedicated computer areas--one for adults and one for children--so visitors of all ages have access to computers and the internet. They also have a Teen Center and offer a variety of free programs and activities for teens and younger children, making it an amazing resource for families and the community. The library provides clean men's and women's restrooms with staff-controlled access, which helps keep the facilities secure, clean, and available for library visitors. One thing I especially appreciate is that the library has armed security on site. Came to the library today with a reservation already booked. Arrived 30 minutes early to get settled -- the room was completely empty, no one using it. Instead of using common sense, staff told me I couldn't be in the space without a reservation despite the fact that it was sitting vacant and I had one starting shortly. To top it off, the room before mine had a no-show and still nobody used any flexibility or judgment. Just rigid rule enforcement with zero consideration for the people actually trying to use the space. The library was closed for over a year for a remodel -- and this is the hospitality we come back to. Disappointing. Leadership should revisit how staff interact with patrons who are clearly there in good faith. Plus it looks the same, barely changed a thing. Take a peek for a laugh, but I wouldn't come Here. And yes, this is what your hard money went to. Millions of dollars wasted for this "improvement" and hospitality. Please... read more

My favorite library at the moment. I'm from south central and come here because this is the nicest one closest to me. I love the staff and the layout. There are so many plug ins and study spaces. The windows also offer decent sunlight to create the perfect lighting. I also love that parking is accessible! read more

All the chairs are uncomfortable. Specially for medium to plus size people. They are definitely not big body positive lol. The chairs are curved in and hurt your legs and back. The bathrooms are also locked. It's a medium sized library. Closes too early on some days. It's ok, but the uncomfortable chairs are a the main reason I'm not coming back. We need comfty chairs to read a long period of time or use the computer, or study. I think they should replace the chairs with some comfortable cushy chairs. So I'm not coming back here. Very thankful that the library is open. I come here every so often to print. Everyone gets 10 free prints a day which is very convenient. The computers are always free and the staff has always been helpful in the event of a question. I wish they had the events for kids but unfortunately I believe that is still online only. read more

As a student, the big study area is one of the best spaces I have used for my studies. I'm very thankful this library has this because, otherwise, I'd have to travel out 30 min or so to a university for such a space. I only wish the business hours weren't so odd. I wonder if that is a result from yet another move from L.A. County cutting back on these businesses due to budget management. Although, I'm unaware if these hours have always been this way. In any case, I hope the day would come that Weaver Library has a consistent schedule throughout the week. Early morning hours would be amazing and I could see them promoting a study space for college students in those particular hours. I'm really enjoying having a library so close to home. My toddler and I got out of house and got almost 3 hours worth of free and fun play time. I saw that they have storytime for toddlers on Wednesdays at 12:00. Their play section has blocks, a minature kitchen, baskets, and a playhouse. They also have plenty of comfortable sofas for parents to sit and watch their kids. I'll be back for sure!!! read more

I remember when I first moved to South Gate back in 1994 this being one of the places I would frequent. I would stay here beyond for hours just reading books or even playing around on the internet. Oh how times have changed. Located right next to an elementary school, Leland Weaver library has been around for so long. Sometime last year it was closed for the whole year due to renovation. If you want to use the Internet, you would have to make an appointment as it does get full here. They also do have copy machines and endless aisles of books and even a section for periodicals. They do have ample parking which does get full very quickly. If you check their schedule, they also do have storybook time for the children. Overall, a great place for the family and anyone else with a knack for reading!!! read more

If it wasn't for the noise I would give this library a 5 stars! I love this library because it's right by my house and it seems very clean now that they don't allow eating inside. I just Really hope they manage the noise by reminding parents with small children to please use their library voices. Please that would really help everyone study or do homework better. read more

I was amazed that they open on Sunday from 1:00 pm -5:00 pm. The library is not near me, but sure worth it on a rainy Sunday for the kids. The book selection they have are okay, but they need more, only downsize is that they don't have the children's books organize on their reading level. Computers for everyone to use, they don't have any computer with children games, and it's first to come first serve for only 30 mins. Parking is free and big. Friendly staff. They have space where children could play blocks and other games. The library also has some comfortable chairs and sofas. They also loan you a Kindle to read any article books etc in it, to top it off they have self-check out books. Will definitely be going back. read more

This is the last time I am going to this library, the staff there excluding like 2 of them are all rude and incompetent. They made me feel like a criminal and embarrassed me over some time I spend at their free lunch hour they have for the children. My daughter and I have never participated in their event so we decided to walk in and try it out. Before that I had to return a book and decided to mark my daughter down for reading time because we owed a couple of dollars. Apparently from that time to the time we walked into the free lunch, the young lady at the counter instead of approaching me about the time, she approached her supervisor, and told her I walked into the lunch instead of reading. After spending like 10 mins at the lunch and movie, my daughter and I went to read , 5 books later, we check the books out, and I tell the young lady we are done with the visit can I sign her out of the list ? She quickly steps away from the desk to call the supervisor, who confronts me about the time, she tells me the list is for reading time ( my daughter has 5 books in her hands) which we read more than once being there! Then the lady with white hair tells me she was "told" that we went into the lunch , which we did, but we didn't leave without reading those books more than once. So the lady said "I'll give it to you this time, but next time " I interrupted her and told them I'll pay the 3 dollars, it was then I decided we are never going back to that library again. I rather drive to the Huntington park library from now going forward. read more

This is a library that has most of the resources a patron needs, if there's a book or audio/video item that isn't available, one can place an order online. In general, they usually have the item one desires, if they don't, you'll either have to try a different library that's not part of the County of Los Angeles Public Library system. Or if you really want it, pay out of pocket. For the most part, this is a decent library, it may get busy at times, especially during the weekdays, but there's a quiet room if one wants to truly focus. There's only many things I'll place here, but you have to go and discover it for yourself. Besides, the staff is great and knowledgeable. read more

After they re opened it feels like the library got a breath of fresh air. It seems brighter and much more welcoming . The kids section upgrades stand out to me as a parents first. Second digital search is cool. The additional CPU was a great idea. I recommend any bookworm or anyone else to come see the new library on tweedy blvd . read more

I use to go to the elementary school right next door(san migue) then came here after school to wait for my parents. Fast forward to when my brothers went there too and came to this libary. Long story short:I haven't been here since 2005 and I have to say- outstanding. I admit, I use to love the older calm woman that was at the assistance desk but oh well:/ Also, I'm not a big fan of high tech stuff so the checkout system and the tablet system to search books is a little too much but we are in are a technology filled world so I'm just too slow to adapt lol I do love how they have sections for different people. I love this library, it's is very well organized and clean. I actually switched over from Graham Library to here because the staff at Graham are extremely rude. The library and its staff are great. We come here often, they have so many books and if they don't have one you're looking for all you have to do is ask them to order it. The only thing I can say is the people, specifically the "MOTHERS", who don't take care of their children ruin it for us. We're lucky when there's not many people or when there are other well behaved kids there like my own. These women take the kids and let them run wild and be loud throwing toys and books, all while they get to be on their phone not even watching what their kids are doing. The worst part is they don't even checkout books it's like they just take their kids to play in the children's section. That's what parks are for not the library where you're supposed to be quite! Some of us actually like to take our kids to read and get books which my kids enjoy and even if they do play in the kids section they know how to behave and play quietly, and I sit there paying attention to them especially when other kids are around because these moms don't take care of their own misbehaving kids. read more
