I must say that I have been hoping that Paris would introduce a place like this sooner rather than…read morelater - but now we have got it and this is good news! Yay team Jeroboam!
The reason that you go to this place is - it a self-serve wine bar with automatic wine dispensing machines... (are you still reading? haven't left yet to go try? ok fine I'll keep going..,.)
that store the wine in ideal conditions and work using a prepaid card. The prices are really quite reasonable compared to...well just about anywhere else.
Just about on par with places like Le Baron Rouge (for me the go-to tried and true wine establishment standard in Paris) but with a slightly more intriguing selection - and better "price-to-quality ratio" as they say. It is nice to see a wine enthusiast has created this bar and gotten the machines to help bring small batch delicious wines to appreciative local customers. This is a striking depart from the other Parisian self-serve bar of this type I have tried where they serve expensive mediocre wines using these fancy machines to let tourists think they are experiencing all of French wine culture in under 45 minutes before they jump back on the red bus to go shopping for Nikes on the Champs Elysees.
The Jeroboam staff is excellent, knowledgeable, and very helpful and the wines "on tap" are all of indisputable quality. They also offer the option to privatize the space for parties and events - and offer wine and liquor tasting courses downstairs. What's more, for 8 euros you can open up your own bottle purchased in their nicely curated wine shop and drink it there with a planche of charcuterie and cheese and even a few friends if you really think that is necessary... :O
...No seriously bring your friends, someone has to help you home after you try to taste ALL of the wine!
