Inside it seats around 30 and is decorated in a modern style that still manages to be warm and welcoming. We visited recently for a meal for 4 on a Friday evening. The restaurant was nearly full. All our starters and mains were served in a timely manner and were delicious. I ordered the scallops and duck and both were brilliant. This is not a mega cheap place but it is worth the money charged. We spent around £35 per head with drinks. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.

It doesn't look much from the outside but from the moment you go in, you are made to feel at home. A clean modern restaurant. All our food was served promptly, and was devoured just as promptly - all excellent. I have visited many "Italian" Restaurants both in Italy & here in the UK and I have to say this is certainly in my top ten! Good food made from quality ingredients, with excellent service is never cheap (if cheap is what you want, there are many pub restaurants to choose from) La Nonna is reasonably priced for the standard of food & service you receive, you can pay a lot more elsewhere for a lot less! Well worth a visit

We heard several good recommendations about this restaurant from staff at a local hotel. As we…read moreapproached we could see lively bustle and banter from within, amidst the soft light was a busy restaurant teeming with conversations and smiles. As we entered to the restaurant, we were shown to our seats by the most friendly of staff, who took our coats, before we settled.. I think we were extremely lucky to get seated in all honesty as most of the tables were pre-booked. So, we sat down to enjoy our meal, the service was excellent, i have never had my needs anticipated in so many ways. The staff new the menu and could recommend the food. And there was a synergy between the servers, yes we had more than one it seemed, a warmness and a genuine interest in your happiness. Everyone one of the servers smiled! The Penne Arrabbiata was extremely tasty but a bit on he mild side in terms of tasting the chilli's, though still very good you could taste the use of fresh ingredients. The Crème brûlée was amazing, I haven't seen it done right in many a restaurant I have been too, but this one done to perfection. The coffee, was fabulous, though at this point in the night it was kind of expected. The only downside I could possibly think of , that to be honest doesn't denigrate the experience in anyway, was the bathroom, though it was clean and well tended. A most wonderful experience, if I am ever back in Stratford upon Avon I certainly will book to ensure I get to taste the delightful ambiance of Sorrento's again.

We both went for the same starters. Butterflied King Prawns in garlic. These were simply the best succulent King Prawns I have eaten in such a long time. Seriously. My Pa went for Cannelloni with ricotta and spinach and thought it wonderful. I went for the Lobster and seafood linguine special. It came with King Prawns but of the variety I'd expect which tend to be disappointing. The Lobster wasn't that extraordinary either. The atmosphere is okay but I'm sure in the evening and at weekends the place feels more lively. We asked for some pieces of bread to soak up the juices of the starters and found we got charged £2 something which I thought was somewhat steep for a couple of pieces of bread but they removed the charge without complaint so good on them for that. House wine is fine.

A great gastropub - where "gastro" means quality rather than snobbery, and "pub" means you can…read morestill have a raucous good time (we were there on a Friday night, and it did get loud!). We were seated in the dining room at the back. My eye was immediately drawn to the menu's chicken wing section. Six options, first was salted caramel, the other five were... not salted caramel! Why read further when you have the option of sugar and chicken fat? The wings were incredible - perfectly crunchy, caramelised skin with juicy flesh underneath. Not at all cloying, the dish had a kind of honeyed warmth that was just right. The only downside is you'll need metal toothpicks to pry the bits of honeycomb from your teeth. For the main, I had the 12oz ribeye, triple cooked chips, and bone marrow sauce. The steak was as close to perfect as I've ever had - every bite a luscious morsel of flavour. So good, I was initially unsure what to do with the sauce, as I didn't want to dilute the flavour of the steak. One option was drinking it directly from the jug, the other was pouring it on the chips - I decided on the latter, even though it meant sacrificing the triple-cooked crispiness in a sea of meaty flavour. The agglomeration of kale on the outskirts of the ribeye was shockingly tasty, buttery and flavourful - first time in my life I can honestly say I enjoyed kale. The Vanilla and Orange shortbread ice cream sandwich felt like a second dessert considering the caramel starter. The shortbread stood out with its delicate sandy crunch, perfect alongside the ice cream and chocolate mousse. There was so much hazelnut crumb, I felt like I needed a dustpan and brush - like when you make a mess cleaning your toaster. So the dessert was great, but at the end I was let down by the texture of the plate which didn't lend itself to being scraped with a metal spoon - unless you enjoy the sound of a plate screaming at you in bloody agony as you try to enjoy the last drops of ice cream.

The pork belly lollipops and salted carmel wings were our favorite! We also admired amazing chips (fries) and ordered a second bowl. The happy hour was well priced and the beer selections were great. As an American we don't do wings anywhere near as nice as these! I am ruined!
