There are a lot of Mexican food restaurants in this area! So we stopped at the one with the most cars on the parking lot. Very nice service staff. Tables were spaced nicely. The menu had both Mexican food favorites and American standards. I had the shredded beef flautas and my friend had the cheese enchilada plate. Both were good and filling. This is the worst representation of Mexican food I've ever had. I was told the closer you are to Mexico the better the Mexican food is. This is false, every Mexican food place is better in Florida than here. They don't have hot sauce or cilantro!! This is an abomination. Make sure you don't get there Birria tacos. It was basically a hamburger patti with shredded lettuce and a hard corn tortilla with no sauce or anything. My husband's fajitas we're barely even cooked and weren't seasoned. Lunch here today. Enjoyed the outdoor seating on the front patio - noisy with the traffic going by, but worth it for the social distancing. Really great chips and salsa. The chips were still warm, and very crunchy. Salsa has the perfect amount of heat. It took a little longer for my taco plate to arrive, but well worth the wait. The grilled onions were a nice touch and the fresh roasted jalapeño was. The taco meat was nicely marinated and I liked that it had cabbage instead of lettuce on it. Didn't realize that most of Deming closes up at 7pm on a Saturday night. We were driving around and saw this place had a full parking lot and decided to try it. It's the definition of a small town restaurant. Homemade chips and salsa was my first clue it was going to be good. I ordered the combination platter and the server recommended green chili sauce on top. The portion was generous and it was probably the best Mexican platter I've ever had. I'd say the tamale was my favorite, but everything, including the rice and beans were outstanding. My friend ordered the stuffed sopapillas and said it was excellent as well. The service was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. I really wanted to rate it 5 stars, but the atmosphere and feel of the restaurant could really use some work. There were some other minor issues, unrelated to the food or service but I'd easily rate it a 4.5 if that was an option. The La Fonda... the location is exceptional...on the corner of Deming's main artery, Pine. The size of the restaurant seems adequate as well.... But as for the everything else, it wreaks of mediocrity. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant has its share of customers. BUT... that doesn't mean it's good, it just means there isn't a better choice in the area... Management should consider revamping to restaurant and adding more staff so they could cater to different people at different times of the day... plus... staff should do their jobs and not get caught up speaking with regulars while everyone else suffers while they wait.... Yes, I was thinking of Napoleon Dynamite too! Fresh made chips and salsa! I would say that's the highlight of this place. I ordered their fajitas since they claimed it was their "famous" fajitas. I went with the steak and it came steaming still frying on a skillet; gosh I love that sound! It came along with some flour tortillas, rice, beans, and pico. The rice and beans were okay, but the pico was great! It had a kick I gather because of the green chili. As for the fajitas steak, I felt like I had to eat it quick because it was frying so fast that I didn't want it to overcook. Some pieces did and became crunchy. I wish they had left it somewhat rare so that as it layed on the skillet, it would allow it to cook to the temperature I would want to eat it. We found this place, living here in Deming, New Mexico. It always looks filled up, and we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. Today I had the Fajitas Carne. First off price, it was $11.99. Unbelievable price, succulent tender steak strips, with a hint of seasoning, very pleasant on my pallet. Strips of white onion, charred to perfection, strips of green pepper, sautéed, and a little charred the way it should be. On a sizzling platter, no less! There was a cup of frijoles or beans, so incredibly flavorful, there was a little pico de gallo, I think I spelled that right, small diced jalapeño, tomato, onion, with slivered iceberg lettuce, there was guacamole, and OHHH! Flour tortillas, my favorite. The missus and I had iced tea, to go with our meal. I'm telling you, our glasses were never empty. I forewarned our server, Minnie, that today I was a very thirsty boy, she brought us a carafe of iced tea, and we managed to empty it, three times. The tea was a little dark, and the tea flavor was really good, I used to sweeten my tea, but I discovered that unsweetened tea really quenches my thirst...hahaha today it was so delicious I had to have more. Our lunch came to $23.41, and we were stuffed. Less than $25 bucks in this day and age is a tremendous bargain for two people. I HIGHLY recommend La Fonda in Deming, for lunch or dinner. This was a tough one..... The food is actually very mediocre yet truly like the restaurant itself and was torn on the review. If it wasn't for the interior this place would've had a three star review. I barely missed lunch buffet so just ordered a cheeseburger, which was OK. Fries were OK also, nothing overly special and not truly much flavor. The very last little bit of the cheeseburger had a horrendous flavor, can't really explain it. Rest of Burger was OK. The décor is adorably tropical with ten thousand papier mache parrots, flamingos, and iguana. Our service was great, but the food was slow coming out for mid morning on a Sunday with a fair, but not crowded, number of patrons. Coffee is very weak. The chile sauces are good: smoky, smooth red, chunky, sour-hot green. Over medium eggs had a little gooeyness to the yolk, but still mixable. Glad our waitress asked about the hardness. A little pile of tomato pieces and lettuce shreds put some more color on the plate. I ordered a side of bacon for the savory, salty, dip-in-the-sauce bonus; pieces were long and crispy but very fatty. I thought the beans were eh, but admittedly I don't love refried beans. My friend's hash browns were not well browned and mostly yellow and floppy. No complaints about the scrambled eggs, though. read more

I was looking for "Las Cazuelas" and never found it. So I ended up here. It's a nice place. The chips and salsa were good. HOWEVER, once I received my plate, is was unimpressive. I ordered the beef/chicken fajitas, and there was nothing great about them. The flour tortillas were store-bought. The guacamole (avocado) was from a tube. (I could tell because it looked like green toothpaste on my plate.) The beef was eh, and the chicken (I'm not so sure if it was chicken). Overall, not good at all. I love this place! I came for breakfast and received exceptional service. I ordered off menu, 3 eggs scrambled with sautéed peppers, onions and mushrooms with 2 slices of bacon. The waitress listened carefully, made sure she understood and off she went. In just a few minutes she came back with the perfectly prepared plate that was done just right - yummy! My coffee cup and water were never empty and I never had to ask! I love that when servers are paying attention.
