We went there for dinner on Saturday, early by French standards (19h30). I had the entrecote frites (very French) and my wife had the fresh catch. Both were delicious. We had 2 "aperitifs" (drinks) and some of the house red wine. We were seated outside in the shade and the place filled fast. The service was ok; nothing to write home about. Until the end... When I asked for the check, I was told we would have to stop by the bar to get it and settle the bill. So far, no major inconvenience. Once at the bar, I was told the amount was 62 Euros, which sounded really cheap. I paid in cash and asked for the bill. I was given a receipt showing only the total. I insisted that I wanted the full check (after all it was all electronic so not a big deal). I did not feel I was asking for something extravagant but by that time, the eyes had started to roll and the shoulders to shrug. Then I was asked "you don't trust us?". At that point, I gave up trying to help them realize that in all likelihood they had forgotten to charge us for some of the drinks... Too bad; I will not go back... Good food, though.

Don't get me wrong, the ingredients were fresh and well-seasoned; however, there really were too many potatoes in the crêpe. Tartiflette PLUS anything will never = a light meal, but this was a bit extreme. Would order again if VERY hungry (and would hesitate mentally about asking for less potatoes). I would stay away, however, from l'Exotique. The vegetables were watery-bland and perfectly diced; (it seemed extremely likely that they were from-frozen, not fresh); the chicken was dry; and the curry sauce desperately needed salt. Something I really do appreciate about St Michel is their polite service and their accommodating hours.

I love how all of your edible floral decorations (I hope they were edible, but I'm still here, a week later) and many of your fresh herbs and veggies (and berries for the desserts!) came from your quaint gardens right outside the kitchen!
