Amazing Restaurant…read more We were staying in quiet Guarda Veneta for three nights, looking for a bit quiet and nature (and we found it). This was one of two places for dinner in town. Recommended by our holiday home host. We came here the first night....and came back for the next two, we liked it so much. It was totally empty the first night when we arrived (some guest arrived later on, it was busier the other two nights...but still far from packed). The whole town was quite empty though. We were greeted friendly by two waitresses and the cook. Our dog was also allowed inside, which was really nice. They have a nice menu here. Some good starters and mains. Mostly Italian dishes, but with some modern / new twists. There is a good number of tables in the restaurant and a good selection of wines and drinks. Every night a small welcome drink was complementary, also a free starter / Aperitif and the third night (besides starter and a drink) even a small dessert. Ain't that nice. They didn't have to do that, since we were clearly tourists and probably not coming back regularly. But they did, and that was really going further than the extra-mile. It's a great staff here in general. We had a bit problems with the language-barrier (Menu only in Italian), but the wonderful young cook here helped us out many times, took his time and explained his tasty creations. Here's a list of the items we've had on our three nights out: Tuna Carpaccio (great quality tuna - smokey flavours) Shrimp Gnocchetti (home-made gnocchi, fresh shrimp) Grilled meat platter (a big and good selection of meat) Two Scallops in their shell, topped with butter and cheese (great quality seafood) Fettuccini with tomatoes, basil and fish (another great item, great pasta) Seafood Spaghetti (big, fresh and good broth) Tuna "Cheesecake" (fresh cheese topped with smoked tuna, a very innovative item) Bowl of steamed seafood (mussels, shirmps, another meal of freshness) Pasta with shrimp and mint (what sounds funny is actually a very tasty combination) Peach Cobbler/Cake (one of the best cakes we've had lately in a restaurant) Besides that they always served some free aperitif snacks. It's a really fantastic restaurant. In the five weeks we've travelled Italy this year, this place is among the top three places. And we've seen lots. Who knew that in this quiet, but charming little town you will find such a great restaurant with a really talented cook. Check it out if you are around this area. It's worth a trip. Fresh food, friendly staff and a cook who creates fantastic dishes. Prices are very very fair. Never paid more than 48 Euros. Including a bottle of wine! Highly recommended!

The perfect trattoria in THE PLACE where the cult Italian movies "Peppone e Don Camillo" were…read moreshot... Brescello di Reggio Emilia. The place is family owned and run according to the best Italian tradition for trattoria. Super friendly and smiling people all over giving you any advice about the super delicious traditional food you are going to order. Starter with prosciutto, culatello, salame and pancetta is a must. Deliciousness for your taste buds and wow, how good was that piece of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese..... wooooooo!!! My first main dish was Tortelli di Zucca (pumpkin kind of ravioli) served with a very local soffritto sauce. Woooooooooooooooo!!! The capelletti were also super good and really like my mother's.... Yesssss!!! I stopped here but the second dishes were all super ones. Ok, nothing dietary or vegetarian, but this is all about super traditional tastes and super comforting northern Italian food. Like being on a Christmas banquet :) Local Lambrusco red wine is the one to drink. Nothing else. Rustic but so fitting the taste. I could not refrain from tasting the dessert and I went for Zuppa Inglese, can.t translate, but if you never got it..... you definitely miss something delicious. Espresso of course and yes, grab the bottle of Nocino to sip this Amaro while you chit chat and end this spectacular dining experience. So, tradition with real care to great tastes enhanced from "you are guest at my home" type of welcoming atmosphere. Not expensive. Book in advance as the place is small and can get crowded. Ohh, I did not mention, all over the walls pictures and posters from the cult Italian movies I mentioned earlier. They are proud of them, and so it should be :)

Osteria Broccaindosso - Tagliatelle Al ragu (2nd of the 3 pasta sampler) and the best I've had yet. The ragu was meaty and really flavorful.

Intro: After exploring Bologna to the fullest, we made our way to Osteria Broccaindosso for dinner…read more Located outside of the heart of Bologna, despite being away from the center of the action, the restaurant was almost full. They didn't have any tables outside so we were seated inside. Service (3.5/5): No WiFi unfortunately which isn't great for an international traveler like me. Standard European service. Not terribly friendly and not terribly efficient but I would say they were a bit more attentive than the norm. They did hook us up with some complimentary limoncello shots which was a really nice touch. Ambiance (3.5/5): A little quieter since it's off the beaten path which I like. A pleasant, homey restaurant. Drinks (4.5/5): We shared a bottle of wine. And the aforementioned limoncello shots. Food (4/5): We went with their pasta for two deal where each person gets three different types of pasta that you choose from six or so options. I love getting a variety of dishes so this was a nice way to do it. Not huge portions given the price but still delicious. The dishes were served to us quickly and we got to try some pastas we had never heard of. Overall: When in Bologna, Osteria Broccaindosso makes for a fine choice. It's a 15-minute walk or so from the center of town.

All of the pasta choices were super tasty and very much enjoyed dinner. We tried 3 different wines and they were all also very good. Our main courses ended with tiramisu and apple cakes, which were also delicious. The staff was friendly and spoke enough English to communicate with us. Food came out hot and fast and we very much enjoyed every bit. This restaurant is highly by a group of foodies from Seattle!
