Foodie destination-probably not but an experience that you shouldn't miss. How the owner Antonio…read morecan handle the place on his own is something to see. Although his English is about as good as my Spanish (which means only very basic words) he made himself understood while explaining various items on the menu and truly made the night something special. From helping us pick the right wine to suggesting his favorite things it was a pleasure "talking" to him the entire night. We had both Gazpachos, both delicious with the Almond one winning. The Garlic Shrimp as well as the Rabbit were both very good. How would I describe the meal - home cooking brought to a high level. (His wife Maria does all the cooking with the help of one other person) So with a bottle of wine the bill came to around $66 US. Make a point of visiting Antonio & his family.

The family also produces its own olive oil, in addition to an assortment of wines and pickled olives which can be purchased. Didn't expect the place to be open on Mondays but thankfully it was and we were fortunate enough to reserve the last seating for the evening. We ordered the salmorejo - a cold tomato cream soup with ham and chopped eggs that was invented here in Córdoba. Also a seafood salad (salpicon marisco), hake fillet with grilled vegetables (lomo merluza fresca a la plancha), stewed bull's tail (Rabo de toro), and pastel cordobes ( Cordoban puff pastry with cinnamon stuffed with squash filling). Everything was spectacular and reasonably-priced; not to mention the excellent service we were given. I would definitely go back.

She was professional, considerate, and knowledgeable about the foods and wines. And she shared a beautiful smile. AMBIANCE: 5.0. Set in an upgraded small cloister-type courtyard with a pleasant fountain. Open to the sky, yet has a roof that can be extended to completely cover the courtyard in case of rain. Next to the fountain stands a ~750 year-old Roman pillar with an inscription dedicating it to a Roman emperor: this pillar is the source of the name "PATIO ROMANO" because it was discovered buried below the restaurant. FOOD: 4.5. Everything was very fresh and prepared with care. - 4.5: (Seasonal menu): salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, and onions. Everything was at the peak of ripeness. - 4.5: House-style garlic prawns. Exquisite texture and taste. - 4.5: Ratatouille with eggs. - 5.0: (Seasonal menu) Iberian pork with potatoes. The perfect amount of salt with the pork. I don't often comment on potatoes, but these were cooked perfectly. - 4.5: House-made Cheesecake. WINE: 5.0. We each had a wine by the glass. Her rosé and my red were excellent, matching our tastes. Good selection of bottle and glass wines.
