The pool was nice but VERY cold. Central location makes getting anywhere on foot a literal walk in the park. The animal park was nice, the beach was beautiful, and the walk to the port was nice. Driving to Ile-de-Re took about 40 minutes. The restaurant in the hotel was decent but much better food can be found elsewhere. The hotel bar was great with super service. This is not an upscale hotel that caters to your every need, but rather a nice place for a family to base out of and go see the sights.

Nothing was too much trouble for them! The rooms were very pleasant, the location is great (about 20 mins walk to town along the sea front) and the pool area is first class. The breakfast (which is included in the price) is all homemade and perfect. We shall definitely return and recommend the place most highly. Thank you to all for such a wonderful holiday. We had driven from Bordeaux and were a bit worn out dealing with all the travel. We immediately felt at home, and sat outside on the terrace for several hours. Last year I came back with my friend and I still loved it: The complete area has been improved a lot: Now you can rent several different "Mobile Homes" from "Shack with bed" up to "House on wheels". We took the shack, which was good enough for two persons in love.. ;) There is a fair amount of sanitary houses in the whole area and the mobile homes have their own bathrooms, of course.. They have an in- and and outdoor pool and direct access to the beach, which has enough space.. The shop at the entrance is a bit expensive, but you can go there, when you forgot to buy anything in town.. They also have a little bit of animation: A Boule Tournament, for example - just the right amount and nobody has to join in.. Friday night is "Discotime": They open a small room below their Restaurant and start playing the very same music since the 80ies.. I fell in love with 70ies disco music at the age of 12 - in the 90ies! ;) At this very place.. :) It's cool for children but if you're grown up, maybe you want to find a different disco.. ;) It's a family place, I still love to remember and rechecked last year.

A first class hotel with a very friendly staff especially the very sweet Alienor. The Spa is small but it is great for hotel guests. They use Clarins products which are fantastic. The Sunday brunch buffet is the best brunch I ever had. It was so delicious. It includes champagne, crepes, real French cheese, brioche...the list is too long. Overall it was great. The only problem in the island is that the Internet tend to be slow but that would never stop me from going to l'isle de Re.

By the fact that La Rochelle is a stunning town, you won't spend much of a day in your room anyway. There are 3 Ibis Hotels in La Rochelle, this one is the nearest one from the train station but the furthest from town centre hence it's clean and quiet. It appeared to my sight before I had started to look it up on a very confusing map printed out from its website. Three of them are in the same price, 88 euros a night per room based on twin share (not that cheap innit?). Let's put it this way, it's just a room to stay, it won't make your day but it won't let you down. Staff can speak English, hurrah!
