Service at this restaurant is unmatched! In addition to the elegant, dimly lit and welcoming dining experience, the staff and quality are what set this place apart. The staff, from the host to the servers are helpful and absolutely kind. The owner, when on site is out on the floor and attentive to new and returning customers alike. On more than one occasion, we've had the staff share complimentary dishes to taste, a gesture rarely experienced these days. Food portions are decent sized, but do not compromise quality at all. Food tastes fresh and quite Italian/ traditional. Dishes, appetizers and entrees alike taste comforting like an Italian home-cooked meal made with love and care. Amazing place, totally worth the visit if you're looking for a new level of hearty and flavorful goodness.

They offer free valet but please tip. All pasta is made in house fresh daily. We feasted today and I was so full!! The food was good I'm not sure if it was the best I've had but the service was impressive. The restaurant is nice a bit on the older side but decorated nicely.

My first time here and I was blown away. So many different Italian dish options. The pastas were unreal. Loved the seafood risotto and lots of delicious drink options. Place also has plenty of seating and staff were awesome.

Love coming here!! The food is always seasonal and delicious. We celebrated our anniversary and we were not disappointed. We had oysters to start and they were superb. My husband had zuppa de pesce and I had soft shell crabs, both dishes were amazing. Our waiter was attentive but not in our space..it's always special coming here..my only complaint was that I was seated under an air vent..so I asked if they would turn down the air they said yes, but they didn't.

Overall a good experience, food was excellent and service was great. The valet however was very unpleasant and took away from the experience. First, I came for an early dinner so the parking lot was empty yet they enforced mandatory valet parking. My friend had already parked her car in a spot and they told her they had to move her car. When I went to get my car at the end of dinner, the valet would not let me in the car until I tipped him. I felt they this was very off putting and rude. Now for the food, the clams with linguini was great and the halibut appetizer was also delicious.

The best food I've had in NJ to date. Service was phenomenal. From start to finish everything was so delicious, I wish I had 2 stomachs to eat more . Best cosmo. Unbelievably tasty oysters. Osso Buco, chefs kiss. My fav, creme brûlée. I'm so pleased to have spent our 10th wedding anniversary here. I cannot wait to come back again.

I hadn't been to La Griglia in almost 10 years until til last weekend, and it was just as delicious as ever. They have a good wine and cocktail list. The star of our meal were the apps - the Cajun balsamic calamari and hot burrata were totally drool worthy! My veal parm was pretty good as well, just wish it came with a side. I tried my wife's spicy chicken parm which had great flavor and came with homemade pasta. The table shared cannoli bread pudding for dessert. One star off for service. Although our waiter was friendly, he questioned my wife's choices both on wine and on her meal and she picked different options. She chose items she thought she would like originally, and it was unnecessary for the waiter to comment the wine would be too dark for her. She knows her wines!

The paparadelle was off the hook. Pasta cooked to perfection

5 stars for the food -1 star for the valet. This is a truly wonderful place to eat. Warm and richly decorated, it is a great a place for a romantic dinner as it is for an every day trip to eat at the bar.

I've been here a few times and have always had a good experience. You have to valet your car, which is always a little annoying especially when it's a week night and there's ample parking and it's freezing outside; I could do without that. The staff has always been helpful and attentive. My only qualm regarding service is that they're a little quick to clear your plates (appetizers in particular) before asking if you're done or want anything wrapped. They have a full bar with a nice wine list and strong and tasty cocktails. We've never had a bad meal at La Griglia. They're known for their seafood, so definitely order some fish! I've had the dover sole, potato crusted snapper, and pan seared striped bass. The dover sole was definitely real dover sole and was very delicate and melted in my mouth. The sea bass is very meaty, almost steak-like tasting. It's perfectly seared and served over the most delicious lemon risotto with mushrooms and guanciale. You can't skip the desserts. You have to order some of their gelato, which they get from Piece of Cake in Rahway. It's truly gourmet and special with it's richness and intense flavors. The one that tastes like s'more is to die for. I highly recommend La Griglia!

My nephew who lives nearby treated us to an al fresco meal recently while visiting for a family event. My pulled pork smashed burger was everything you want in a packed meat sandwich, with an onion ring and tangy sauce on the brioche bun. It was packed on the Friday night we visited, with folks lined up for seating, or to hang at the bar and enjoy the bar scene. No reservations. Our late dinner worked fine as the mostly millennial and Gen-Z crowd started thinning shortly after we arrived. Millburn has always been a draw for neighboring townsfolk in search of a meal out. I remember this foodie town from 25 years ago, when its pizza, kosher and diner offerings were top notch. It seems to have upgraded its food scene several notches since my last visit so many years ago. Pure nostalgia for me which made for a very flavorful evening. TOP TIP: Street parking in this part of town is a hassle and the local cops keep a sharp eye for illegally parked cars and inebriated drivers. So park further away from the center of town where you are more likely to snag a legal spot on a busy night.

For appetizers, we got zucchini chips, fried calamari and mussels. The calamari was fried too hard and it had a very salty, spicy Chilean type sauce over it. The zucchini chips were thinly sliced, lightly battered with Parmesan cheese sprinkled over them. They were decent but nothing to write home about. In fact, after having about six or seven of the zucchini chips I began to experience heartburn from the grease. For entrees, my husband had the chicken parm. He said it was too thick and should have been flattened more before frying. It was also very breaded. My brother-in-law ordered the chicken and waffles and he said the chicken tasted day old so after having a bite of one piece of the chicken he pushed the chicken aside and called it a day. I called the waiter over and informed him about the chicken tasting day old. He didn't try to change it out or take it off the bill or get a manager. He just apologized by saying I'm sorry. My crab Mac and Cheese was decent. It wasn't seasoned the way I would have liked but the huge, plentiful chunks of crab made up for that. I ate a third of my dish and packed the rest for home where I will doctor it up to my taste. I've never been to this particular restaurant before. The only reason we came today is because my brother-in-law was here on business and staying at a hotel in the area.

The employees don't walk the floor ... there are lots of young-ish employees sitting at desks who have all the personality of robots. Seriously, after interacting with a few of them, I wondered if the store was closing because they seemed so put out to talk with me. The cashier was the same way. The upper level is where all the liquor is ... a very good selection. Not quite Total Wine ... They had very few rum brands and very few bottles of good gin. They did have a few bottom-level allocated items ... but no Forteleza, Pappy, Weller, etc. The markup was also incredibly high ... $150 for a bottle of Old Fitz 7 Year old bourbon. That's $70 at Total Wine. I left with a few cheap bottles at a very good price ... but they didn't have a lot of high end wines for purchase. Mostly $12 - $25 on the shelves. They had some 'special wines' they were pushing hard, showcasing a 96 point scored wine they claimed was $100 but marked down to $30. The 96 rating came from James Suckling (the biggest scammer in wine ratings) ... after a little googling, I saw that the average score was 92 and no other stores seemed to carry this. It was just okay. I was very disappointed they didn't have much Bordeaux and what they did have was a mish mash of average vintage years. Overall, I think I will skip coming back. It wasn't really anything special in terms of prices or selection. The little high end international grocery store and cheese shop was pretty cool though. It took over 60 minutes to get our wings! Apparently there was some sort of mix up in the kitchen & while we were understanding, what threw us for a loop was that even though our wings were DELAYED, our server was hesitant to offer complimentary time in our karaoke room while we waited. Right at the 60-minute mark, he was quick to offer two options - our wings to go or a table in the dining room. In the end, we had to negotiate an extra hour in the karaoke room since our food took SO long to come out. When paying the check, we were surprised to see a charge for food we never ever received! I'm super disappointed that they tried to take advantage of us, when we were very understanding of their mix up. In my opinion, servers could use a lesson or two in customer service. I'd say we were successful in that regard, and this is probably one of the top two places I've been now in town, along with Garlic Rose. Even if you didn't have access to the menu, this just LOOKS like an upper-class steakhouse - lots of darker interior colors with deliberate use of lighting almost like the aisles in a movie theater. We did the responsible thing and made 6:30pm reservations, though the restaurant was relatively empty when we first got there (it filled up for sure during our dinner). We were immediately seated and attended to, which was a pleasant recurring theme for our experience. On the booze front, we each got an Old Fashioned, which was specifically cited on the cocktail menu, and a bottle of Daou Cab Sauvignon to share (I let my chum take the lead on that selection, which I think was influenced by the strong reviews on the Vivino app - a recommend if you're into that sort of thing). The Old-Fashioned was decent; I'm always pleased when the de facto bourbon is Angel's Envy. I'm not crazy about vermouth, which I always think gives off shoe leather vibes, but I did like the smoky profile on this one. Not bad at all, but I liked the bottle of wine better. We decided to split the Grilled Octopus app, which came with seasoned potatoes, olives and tomatoes. This was arguably the weakest part of the meal. The octopus was a little tough/rubbery and the accompanying potatoes to me were very much needed and better, frankly, than the designated star of the show here. I'm not an olive person but my chum's comment there was they were too overwhelming, taste-wise. Noted. We also got a side of parmesan truffle garlic steak fries, which I didn't have too many of because I was distracted by all of the other options on the table, but would totally get again. For entrees, it felt morally proper to hit up the cattle (when in Rome). I went with the Braised Short Ribs, which is one of my go-tos if it's on the menu. Pretty good - VERY tender and literally falling off the bone. I'd say about 20% of it was too fatty for me, and I pawned that section off on my chum, but the other 80% was primo. She got the Filet Mignon Oscar style (which my computer wanted to autocorrect to Oscars, thinking it was the umpteenth time I was typing something about the Academy Awards), and was very pleased by it. Not mindblowingly amazing but solidly above average across the board. I'm not sure why we ordered dessert at this point other than to ensure I had something else to munch on the following day, but we did that too. I got the Cheesecake w/ Marionberry Compote. This was just okay for me. Taste-wise, the cheesecake seemed a little off for my palate; maybe a little too tart? It didn't seem as milky as other cheesecakes, which doesn't necessarily mean it was bad, but wasn't my kind of cheesecake. The compote was also just okay, both in the moment and as a leftover the following day. Maybe I'm just used to getting this dessert with strawberries and compotes that are similar to that type of fruit, but I just didn't think the compote and cake meshed as well. Debatable though. There's room for improvement but this is a strong entry in the Cranford gastro scene, such as it is.
