We came here on a 4th of July early evening to grab a quick dinner. The space is a bit run down and old. Also it was sort of dog friendly with their outside patio. The spot was empty but we figured it was probably due to the holidays. We got chips and salsa then looked at the menu. The chips and salsa were NOT good. the chips were very stale and the salsa tasted watered down. I knew instantly I didn't want to eat here plus the pricing was quite steep. However, I gave it a chance... but we were waiting for over 10-20 min at this point waiting for the waitress to come by. We were confused given the spot was empty, she couldn't be that busy. My husband went in and saw her talking to somebody else. Guess we were forgotten. My husband got the chimichanga to go which came with rice and beans on the side. Overall a decent meal, it wasn't much food. His rice and beans were OK, I got Mexican food elsewhere for cheaper and the rice/beans tasted much better. read more

We came here around 9:30am hoping to try their menudo but it was sold out already. We ordered quesabirrias with the consome and an order of the green chilaquiles. The quesabirrias were yummy and the consome was full of flavor. I was surprised it was a thicker consistency like mole, but was delicious and perfect for the quesabirrias. On the other hand, the chilaquiles plate was not the best. The chilaquiles were very soggy all around and the green salsa was very sour, without much other flavor. The beans were tasty though. I've heard good things about this place so i'll have to come back and try other plates. read more

We found this little Spot near our hotel , we were hungry for menudo ! First of all this place is empty , no one there but us , it's cold. We ordered menudo and a taco plate , I didn't like the carnita tacos , very bland , no flavor , the menudo tastes like it came from a can ! I'm Very disappointed, it had lots of flavor ! La Hacienda serves solid Mexican food at a good price. The restaurant is tucked away on a side street in Old Town Goleta. There is a patio for outdoor dining and a medium size lot that makes it convenient to park. Pork chili verde was flavorful and tender, with plenty of tart verde sauce for dipping tortillas in. Beans were slightly under seasoned, but rice was seasoned well. The sauteed chicken and vegetable in cream sauce was delicious. Del Pueblo cafe in the Magnolia center is one other place that also has this dish. Chips, green and red salsa come complementary with every order. I was most impressed by the thick freshly griddle homemade tortillas. Most restaurants use store bought tortillas to save on labor, so I was won over anytime I see homemade tortillas. read more

Food was ok. Chips were stale, my chile relleno taco had the wrong fixing, they fixed it and replaced it with cabbage just as the menu stated, but them left off the second tortilla. The staff does not know the menu. The coke was missing syrup and they did nothing about it. The music they were playing was great and made up for some of the shortfalls. read more

Sadly disappointed at the place . Visiting from out of town for my mom's birthday . We stop at this place cause it was near our hotel . I should have figured since this place was empty but I gave it the benefit of the doubt cause it was pouring rain outside . The chips and salsa weren't good . My daughter got an horchata that tasted watered down with lots of cinnamon on it . I ordered a molcajete and the rock wasn't even hot . Every restaurant I've been to the rock is sizzling. They greet you with a bowl of chips and 3 salsas. They were polite enough to let me know one was the hottest. Had most of my chips and couldn't stop eating the hottest salsa, had to be Habanero. The campechana is one of the most recommended by people who I work with in Santa Barbara; and they weren't wrong, this campechana has the coast of Mexico flavors. Yes I will agree with other reviewers here on yelp ., it is indeed a hidden Gem. YUUUUMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! I visited La Hacienda today for the first time and it most definitely will not be my last! They close daily at 5 and I arrived at 4:30. I ordered a burrito to-go with chicken, rice and beans and asked if I could add cheese and the woman happily said yes. The restaurant is beautiful inside and you don't feel like you're in Goleta! A little detail that really made me happy was that the woman who took my order was counting the drawer from the day and let me know that she was going to wash her hands before bringing my order over in the bag. There was one other woman working there in the front area and they were both very friendly. When I got home, I indulged in the burrito with the tortilla chips included and it was amazing! The chips were really good and warm too. It was one of the best burritos I had ever had and I can't wait for my next visit. I'm surprised this place doesn't have more reviews! Wow. Lived on Goleta for years and always drove by this place thinking to check it out. Finally got the chance on a random weekday at lunch. The place was empty, but man did the food knock our socks off. Steak ranchero was phenomenal. Honestly I'd be amazed if back in the kitchen there wasn't three 85 year old abeulas knocking out absolutely classic Mexican comfort food with 200 years of practice between them. Get the hand made corn tortillas they are thick little street taco sized beauties, I had to fight my wife for the last one and our marriage is now in shambles. The outside of the place is the biggest drawback - if your an old timey gentrified curmudgeon you might be turned away in the parking lot by the looks, but the inside is warm and inviting, the staff is great, and the food is wonderful read more

I've tried this restaurant when it was called El Rincon Bohemio. The 2x I ate there, I had tasteless bland food. The torta I ordered was basically made with sandwich bread, not bolillo bread. My side of veggies was literally the frozen carrot/peas/broccoli bag, microwaved. My memories of it still lingers. After my 2nd visit, I vowed never to return. After avoiding this restaurant for YEARS, I finally decided to give it another try - new owners, know called "La Hacienda". So glad I did, the food was delicious! They have fresh tortillas so I like to get their tacos usually and I think I'll stick with that next time. Wow!! What a hidden gem in Old Town Goleta!! We attended Taste of Old Town last weekend and La Hacienda was a stand out for me. From the outside the restaurant is very unassuming, but once you're inside it's a whole different story!! A big dining room with lots of tables. But the best part is the PATIO!! Once we realized that there was such a nice big patio, we knew we wanted to stay longer!! We sampled the grilled chicken with sautéed veggies in a garlic cream sauce over Mexican rice. Like the restaurant, it appeared unassuming but the flavors were amazing!!! Not too garlicky and not too creamy, just the perfect amount of flavor!! Also, the service was fantastic!! Very polite waiter brought us warm chips (good) and cooked type salsa (not good). The chicken fajitas were bland and dry (no fresh salsa, no sour cream, no guacamole) for $18. The fish tacos were ok, two large pieces of steamed fIsh with cabbage and a bit of sauce for $17. We asked for lime which helped. The bill came and it was wrong, but the waiter tried his best to fix the mistakes. All in all nothing was bad just bland and missing what makes great Mexican food, flavor and toppings. read more

There are a hundred great Mexican spots in this town and if I'm completely honest the main reason that I keep coming back here is because the people there are easy to talk to and they are always receptive. I walked by this building multiple times without realizing it was a restaurant because there weren't really any windows that showed what was going on from the inside. The interior is very nice and comfortable though, they had a fire going which help keep us warm. This was a team lunch and the server was very nice and accommodating. The complimentary chips and salsa was fine, the guacamole here didn't have any tomato in it and I don't recall onion either, there was cilantro however which was an interesting combination but I wished there was some more flavor because the avocado overpowered the cilantro almost completely. I ordered the Chimichanga which was nice and crispy, I am actually pretty writing this review rn and it's definitely a restaurant that I would go to again, I just wish the guacamole had a little more flavor to it. Good food and great people! We have gone several times. My husband loves their Sopes and their guacamole! I have had several dishes-- all have been tasty. Craving for some authentic Mexican food, my boyfriend and I decided to try this for dinner. We were very pleased with everything. They offer chips and salsas upon sitting down and we were blown away by how good the salsas were! They were extremely flavorful. The service was great, our waitress was very attentive.
