If you were not looking for it, you might pass it by completely. The interior is equally unassuming, with simple, modern (yet comfortable!) decor, a warm palette of golds and browns and gentle ambient lighting. The most dramatic decor element is provided by individually vased tufts of moss placed at the corner of each table. When we were there (around 9:30 PM on a Thursday), the restaurant was nearly empty. In other places this might make for a slightly awkward or isolated dining experience, but at Trigo it felt exclusive and pampering. Trigo's menu evolves with the season and their winter selections were outstanding--from the orange-pumpkin starter to the amazing mushroom and truffle pasta (my favorite course!), to the entrees (I tried the rabbit, which was tender and hearty and not at all gamey), and even the wine (a clean Ribeiro from Galicia). The service was also excellent and very friendly and after our dinner we stayed to chat with the chef and his wife for a few minutes. Dining at Trigo was the highlight of our trip to Valladolid and I am very tempted to return just to experience Trigo one. more. time.

I was first struck by the decor, probably one of the coolest looking restaurants I'd been in. Modern yet whimsical. Lots of white, lots of pastels, but all very modern. We took a seat, ordered same PradoRey wine (gotta try the product, right?) and made our way through the menu. There was no English language menu and our server didn't speak English, but between my bad Spanish and Google Translate we were able to figure out what the dishes were. We each received potato croquettes to start the meal that were very tasty. I ordered the hake, which was served with salsa verde and topped with clams and shrimp. All the seafood was wonderfully fresh and the sauce was very nice. My husband went with the oxtail stew which was rich, meaty, and delicious. Service was very good and the prices were great for what we got (five euros for a bottle of wine? Yes please). If you're in town, I'd highly recommend this place. They're open for lunch all week and dinner on the weekends.

Each room has air conditioning and heating, a minibar and satellite TV. The towels are the softest I've ever felt but pack your lint brush! They shed. If you're planning on touring the amazing wineries in the Ribera del Duero, this is the place to stay! We wandered around the sleepy town looking for cigarettes. Well this is one and I recommend you go out of your way to come here. The paella is obviously made to order because it takes a few minutes to receive. I ordered the vegetarian paella with a side order of french fries cooked extra crispy. The worker understood English, made the order perfectly, and it tasted great. Best of all, I didn't have to wait until the ridiculous hour of 8:30 p.m. to begin eating dinner. 8:30 p.m. might fit a local who is accustomed to this culture, but for a tourist or someone here on business, waiting to have dinner until 8:30 p.m. is ludicrous. I love this restaurant, and the mall is pretty awesome also. As for ambiance, you're eating in a food court. But it's a clean food court and not too crowded. The coffee is always good, albeit the more-than-sensible prices, and there is always daily press and mags for those who stroll in alone and want to do some reading while sipping their coffee or drink. It's very bohemian, but still lots of traditional natives from town come around here all year round, especially on sundays. Don't miss it!!!
