2 stars just because of service. Stopped in for breakfast on our way back home. Service: Not so great. Everyone seemed to be struggling to get food together. Normally you order your quiches and what not while you are in line. That didn't happen. We got to the register and ordered (2 quiches and 2 potato galettes). We got the quiches right away. The potato not so much we were told it would be about 5 mins. We sat down and waited, no one ever came by. My husband grabbed one of the guys wandering around and asked about the rest of our meal after 10 mins. Finally they brought it over. Food: It was all really good. No complaints there. read more

Two stars for the friendly staff. I especially want to commend the guy who brings the food but sometimes cleans the table. I can't remember his name, but he was african american. He is the definition of customer service. Cleanliness is a zero. The staff manning the cashier needs to be retrained on basic hand hygiene and food safety. Wash your hands after handling money and change your gloves. I do like the Sacher torte and several other dishes, but la Madeleine has really gotta step up their hygiene and food safety. read more

Didn't really like much of anything about this place. I didn't see any of the people working there smile once. I ordered a lunch combo with a half quiche and a Caesar salad with a cup of French Onion soup. It was like Subway - this depressed girl just threw some lettuce and cheese and dressing on the plate and then passed it along. They put everything on one plate and handed it to me with soup spilled all over the quiche and salad. I didn't finish anything because it was all so gross. I suspect the store has a serious management problem because not one employee looked happy to be there. I would have been mad about my experience if I didn't feel so bad for them. read more

Had a lovely lunch with my Baylor Bear before leaving her there for the semester. The perfect environment to enjoy some quality time with a loved one. We enjoyed our food but the best part was the service- every single employee, from the ladies behind the counter to the people cleaning up around the restaurant were extremely kind and friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We have been anticipating the opening of La Madeleine. Now that it's open me an my husband walked into the warm hearted doors. The first steps in were breath taking as you fall into the ambiance of the orchestra strings playing in the background. The warm fire place burning to set the mood and welcoming staff to greet us. The food selection was good and recommendations were given. Good an tasty coffee was exceptional right to the touch. Our waiter was polite and generous to help us and answer any questions we had about the meals. I noticed that soon they will be serving wine as well. My mother and I haven't been able to get together since the lockdown until yesterday, and we decided to treat ourselves to La Madeleine. Perfect choice! Having a breakfast croissant with iced tea was the ideal choice for our lunch. Ashley was attentive to what we needed, the restaurant was inviting, the pastry case elicited many moments of drooling over ( the Quarantine 15 kept us from partaking) and the bakery case could have just come home with us! First time customer experience... walked in expect to much I guess. Was confused on the set up you walk in to look at a menu walk to another station to place your order with no menu in site had to walk back and forward to look at menu. Coffee was cold was told afterward that we need to let it run for a few so the hot coffee comes out but your cup gets full before the hot coffee comes out. You have to walk to the soda despiser to dump cold coffee. On the good side staff was friendly. Not sure if it's worth a second visit. read more

This place is just "ok." I've lived in Waco for two years and finally decided to check this place out. Ordered a 1/2 French dip, salad and a piece of cake. The salad was a good size for a side, but the sandwich was tiny. Literally it was only about 3 1/2 inches long. The cake was good, but I probably wouldn't get it again. For $15,I would have expected the sandwich to be bigger. For that price, there are better options in Waco. read more

This was a first visit at this location and I was not impressed. The food was just meh and is overpriced for the portion you receive in my opinion. We noticed other guests that came in after getting there food and after waiting over 20 minutes we finally inquired about the order. The server was apologetic but it was inconvenient to wait that long considering it was not busy. Only one employee seemed friendly, everyone else seemed like they didn't want to be there. read more

I was so disappointed. Half my plate was cold and made me feel like they just heated it up vs cooked my meal. I guess I usually order salads or off the breakfast menu and those are made to order. So I'm not sure if it is this location, which lacks in the area of service .. feels more like a fast food location... or if maybe they have changed the food providers recently. I almost ordered the Chicken Friand, but as soon as I talked about that to my friend the manager (after hearing me talking about ordering it) grabbed the last one and threw it in the trash. I ordered a Thanksgiving Sampler and we joked it was sponsored by Swansons. I hate leaving bad reviews, but there are a lot of great places to eat in Waco. Maybe find one of those. read more

This restaurant breaks my heart. The food is delicious, but the service is so horrendous it isn't worth it. I have ordered take out from here probably 20 times. The pesto chicken sandwich (which no longer appears on the takeout menu) was wonderful. The nutella muffin is divine. The newly added strawberry nutella crepes are delicious. The food is beyond reproach. When I travelled to Paris I enjoyed every single thing I ate and I was delighted to find this restaurant in Waco and enjoy such delightful food. However, I cannot recommend it because of the truly horrendous service. I have called and had the women who answered be so viciously rude to me that I cried. I have had them tell me that they didn't have time to make items only to call back and reach someone else who acted like that was nonsense. I spoke to a manager who apologized to me profusely and the next time I ordered food someone had poured coffee all over my order (not spilled--poured--there was no coffee in my order and it was in each individual container of food, soaking and ruining each part of my meal). I was never rude to the staff even when they were rude to me, so all of these actions were totally unmerited. Perhaps the owners or workers here believe the false stereotype that the French are rude and curmudgeonly. This is not the case. The people I encountered in France were kind and warm and this restaurant does them a disservice in their treatment of American civilians. They are traitors to the spirit of their positions. Shame on them. It is truly heartbreaking. I would have been this restaurant's biggest advocate, cheerleader and fan had they not made such terrible choices. To the victor go the spoils? Despite the bad reviews we went to LaMadeleine because we love the one in Atlanta. They did not disappoint! We ordered the Beef Crepe which was outstanding and the Pesto Pasta with shrimp which was also delicious. A gentleman greeted us the door and asked if we would like a menu. The lady that got our Almond Croissant, which was yummy, was friendly and told us bon appetite! Each server was very friendly and attentive. The wait staff cleaned our table as we finished each course! We would go again and highly recommend you visit! read more

It was freezing in the entire restaurant & therefore our quiche was cold before we even got to our table. I tasted good for cold quiche. There is a ridiculous amount of redundancy with a person taking the order on the iPad, telling your order to the line and then telling the person who cashed us out what we had. The line wouldn't be so long if they eliminated the girl with the iPad. Would've stayed for pastry but it was freezing inside. read more

Was so excited to go this place but was so let down from beginning to end. I went with a friend for brunch. They had no mimosas because they didn't have their liquor license but they were advertised as selling them. We weren't directed on where to place our order. Once we did order my friend's cooked meal was served to her before my already made food was given to me. I had to ask for my croissant, and it was served ice cold and hard. Wow! Truly spoiled over the years! Used to be my favorite to-go place with my family, however with time we started to notice the careless attitude of employees and the non-existent time curtesy towards customers! The last time I went I had to go back for the order 3 times in order for them to get it right and then recently I went it to get some ICED tea and had to wait for about 30 minutes to get one cup! Not even mentioning the prices that keep going up and the portions that keep going down lol. I mean I usually don't take the time to focus on such things and write reviews, but if I am taking the time to write this - you know it's bad. I order from this restaurant many times. This time I had to use Uber due to no transportation. I1st time I forgot to add chicken to "Caesar Salad", I call the Restaurant to ask them to add chicken. I was told, "I need to come to the restaurant to pay for the chicken." I informed him, "I didn't have transportation that's why I was using Uber"!!!!! I canceled 1st order & placed a second one. Got my food, it didn't have chicken on the salad, the salad was wilted & no extra dressing." I found a small container of some rancid-smelling chicken & saw I was charged for changing the order. It's still in my refrigerator. Uber wouldn't have known the conversation I had with the guy at La Madeleine, so it wasn't their fault. I have had great food & service previously, this time food wasn't prepared properly, the employee wasn't helpful, should know if your using Uber chances are you don't have a car to come to the restaurant. Uber gave me a $ credit & La Madeleine gave me subpar food & charged me extra. La Madeleine has always had quality service & great food. I'm sure I will use them again. They need to have a better plan for those using Uber etc, instead of telling them""to come to restaurant"" to fix an order, chances are if we're using a delivery service we don't have transportation.
