We celebrated our daughter's high school graduation at La Mona Rosa in downtown Las Vegas and it was the perfect choice! From the moment we walked in, the warm atmosphere and excellent service made the night special. Amanda went above and beyond with her customer service. She made sure our flowers and balloons were delivered and beautifully arranged on our table waiting for us, such a thoughtful touch that made the evening even more memorable. Our server was also fantastic, attentive and friendly throughout the night. The food was next-level. They must have a new chef because this is hands-down the best Mexican food we've had in Las Vegas. My carne asada chef's special tacos were incredibly juicy and packed with flavor (unlike the dry ones you often get elsewhere). The queso fundido and fresh guacamole were excellent, my wife's shrimp entrée was outstanding, and the flan was truly unique, my daughter said it was the best she's ever had. Every dish was a hit, and the cocktails were fantastic too. Everyone in our group raved about their meals. We spoke for a bit and he had a nice table set up for us right at opening. We enjoyed their brunch service for 6. It was dish after dish of foods that were wonderful and we finished it off with churros and chocolate mousse. Very good food presented very professionally. That and a few drinks made for a great Saturday the 25th. If I were to make any criticism it was the music was way too loud. Blade twice went to turn it down but somebody else in the staff kept turning it up to what even seemed to be Blades frustration. Made it a little difficult to have a comfortable conversation. Maybe at night when the atmosphere is not nice dining and more bar club the music should be that loud. Right off Fremont, this place is definitely an eclectic and delicious gem. Everything we had was delicious. The esquites packed the creamy and spiciness I was looking for. The housemade chips were utter perfection in texture and taste that I wanted to just keep eating them. The salsa that accompanied it had a good spice level and texture as well. However, the star of the meal was the Poblano tacos. All the flavors and textures worked in perfect harmony. I can see why this is a signature dish. We also had the birria, which also had great flavor and a nice crunch with the cheese coated shell. The service was very nice and attentive without being all over you during your entire meal. I've been here a few times now and it's always a hit. Today we came in for Pink Brunch to celebrate a bride to be. The place looks so cute all in pink! Service was good as usual. We had watermelon cucumber refreshers, fish tacos, and enchiladas suizas. Everything was pretty good. This was my first time trying this spot. It was a very chill Sunday afternoon and I did not make a reservation. I walked in and sat at a table. The server was nice and accommodating. I ordered an appetizer of chips with guacamole and salsa. As well as a Caesar salad that is not pictured. The guacamole and the salad tasted so fresh! Then for an entrée, I ordered the enchiladas with mole. The mole was the right amount of sweet and a little spicy. At first when we walked in, it's actually very nice music is loud. The person is welcoming. We started with a queso fundido. It was really good, obviously super cheesy. The bottom had a lime taste to it. The peppers on top or tasty and the red sauce didn't really have a flavor in my opinion, but overall, it was really good. I like the cups for the water, but the water did taste like tapwater, which was a turn off. My nephew had the hibiscus Agua Fresca. He said it was sour but tasty might get it again, but I don't think so. He got the birria tacos. When they first came out, he took a bite and he burned his mouth cause they were oven hot, which is good but be careful. He said they were super flavorful. Very tasty. Would definitely order again. I got the chicken enchiladas no chicken after I started eating them. I realized I had a lot of cheese. They were definitely tasty though. Everything together was really good. Met some friends for lunch at La Mona Rosa. Menu is smaller than expected for a Mexican restaurant. Prices are all over the place -- $4 for chips and salsa, but $16 for chips and guacamole, and most entrees between $16-24 but then also a la carte pricing for most sides like beans, rice, tortillas. The inside is pretty swanky, and fresh flowers on the table offer a nice touch. However, they have massive speakers hanging near the kitchen and the loud techno music with accompanied bass was a bit much for a weekday at noon. I tried the birria tacos with a side of rice. The tacos were delicious but very rich. The rice was over cooked, but edible when dipped in the consomé. We also ended up trying the overpriced guac and it was very good. Kind of blacked out after this meal. Just get drinks. They were all well crafted cocktails with a great presentation. Ordered the Yellow Tuna Ceviche and the Queso Fundido. We most recently had dinner here on a Friday night, with 7 pm reservations. As expected, the place was busy, so loud. (Be prepared for banging beats as you dine.) Food was excellent, I absolutely crave their Carne Asada with house made Russet Potato Chips. It's incredible! My date had Nopalitos (Mexican Cactus/Prickly Pear/Opuntia Ficus-Indica) & it was tasty, sweet and FANTASTIC! We inquired if it was possible to make items vegan, as we seem to have an influx of friends who are vegan & it's hard to find kitchens that will alter their dishes or menu to accommodate those guests. They do! I have some dietary requirements and from the well versed waiter to the kitchen, they made it work. We are very appreciative of the attentiveness this restaurant provides for each customer. We have eaten here a few times, and very much look forward to a return visit. This place is really cool. I liked the service and the food is great. They do put quite a bit of salt on the chips, but I think everything was good. I has a hard time finding this restaurant because Google was telling me to go into the alley. The entrance is not in the alley. You can park up the street where they do not charge for parking. It looks like they have patio dining, but I think I would wait til it's cooler outside to do that. We ordered the enchiladas and they were good. I think they have food that is as good as mi casa at silverton. I think I'll be coming here instead because it's pretty much around the corner from me. We walked into La Mona Rosa and were seated right away by the host, T. She was honestly the best part of the entire experience. Super welcoming and warm from the moment we walked in. I ordered the Baja Shrimp Tacos which our server said were really good. I asked for the green habanero salsa on the side. When the food came out, the salsa was missing. Not a big deal, but when I asked about it, the server kind of questioned me like I was making it up. That already felt off. When I did get the salsa, it was incredibly spicy so I asked if they had anything else or something to balance it out. He told me no and added that it "wasn't even that spicy." Excuse me sir, we have different taste buds and if I say it is spicy, I don't need your commentary. We asked if they had crema and he said yes but it would be an extra $2. At that point we said fine because the tacos were dry without something and that salsa was just way too much so I wanted to mix them. The crema actually helped and I was able to enjoy the tacos after that. What rubbed me the wrong way was when the bill came and the server asked how everything was and if we would come back. He even asked if the service was good. It was honestly frustrating. I had a problem with my dish and instead of offering a solution, he gave me attitude and then charged me when I found my own workaround. I didn't say anything in the moment but he really wasn't the vibe. I didn't get our server's name, but on the receipt it says Herbert. Before writing this review I actually tried to call and speak with a manager. I called around 12:45 today which is during their posted hours. The call went straight to voicemail and I was instructed to leave my contact info and they will get back to me, but the mailbox was full so I wasn't able to leave a message. T was amazing. We arrived w no reservation. Many empty seats, but they said they were reserved for a couple of special parties. Most of the spots filled up w bridal parties etc, we sat at the bar. Stuck with the spicy going forward. The bartender, Austin, was friendly and on it. We were a minute late on the happy hour, but he snuck in our chips and salsa for HH pricing. They have a daily HH that's worth checking out! They had just rolled out a new menu. My husband ordered the enchilada Suizas but deconstructed due to his diet. It was fresh and tasty and good portion. I had the Camarones Al mojo de Ajo. Shrimp was cooked well. A little saucy but the spicy tostada I enjoyed. I kept going back to the chips, guac and salsa. Good, fast, friendly service, fresh and hot food, tasty too. The highlights were Austin and the ambiance and people watching and the chips, salsa, guac and proteins. Super strange when it's a rainy summer Thursday night in Vegas. We had a party of 7 and the moment we walked in, we were greeted and they created a table for us within 5 mins. Our server Blade was the best. He suggested drinks and food that would be great for sharing and every item was awesome. The interior of La Mona Rosa reminds me of a Mexican-style saloon you'd see in the 1800's on a dirt road with horses and wagons outside--except it's clean and chic. The menu boasts of Mexican classics such as tacos, enchiladas, and chilaquiles, but there are some other items such as the Pinole pancake, tuna guajillo, and tamal Oaxaqueno that you don't typically see. This place is a gem. I've been twice for a bachelorette brunch and normal brunch with friends and both times it's been a lovely experience. I recommend wearing pink, as a lot of people tend to do. It feels like opening week of the Barbie movie. They also give you pink heart shaped sunglasses and little fans for their pink brunch. The food was surprisingly good, I tend to not expect much from these trendy Mexican cuisine places but the aguachile is fresh and delicious, I also had enchiladas and really liked them. The customer service is excellent the staff are very friendly. The ambiance was quiet on a Saturday morning. I didn't try the food, but they drinks are really good, price I paid $17 for one drink. My wife and I walked in at 8pm on a Saturday and were the only two there. We waited at the entrance while the host texted on her phone across the restaurant. When she finally did approach us, she asked "How many?" then continued to text on her phone before seating us. The server was nice, but a little questionable. We received ours after a reminder, but at the time we ordered we were literally the only two people there, so I'm not sure how we were forgotten. We also ordered the pico papalonas, but our order never came. When we asked about it, the server said "Oh, I didn't know if you wanted that. I can put it in now if you want." Why would we not have wanted what we ordered, and when is it at the server's discretion to remove items at their whim? It makes no sense. We choose not to put the order in because by that time our other items had already arrived, the little gem Caesar salad and beef birria tacos. The food was good, but not great. The drinks were drinks. Overall, the service leaves more to be desired and the food quality doesn't justify the price. It does look cool inside though. read more

The reservation process for this place is painful. I tried to book a party of 9 for a pink brunch bachelorette party. I was unable to make a reservation online due to the party size. So I attempted to call them multiple times and even left voicemails. After the third day I called, someone finally answered and I was able to make a reservation. Two days before my reservation, my group wanted to go at 11 instead of 1. So I made the request online to move our reservation to earlier, but never received a confirmation. I tried calling during their business hours and nobody answered. So we ended up going at our confirmed time at 1pm. Upon arrival, I was the first one there and they wouldn't seat me until half my party was there. I was able to observe the decor while waiting which was super cute. There is also a paid parking lot right across the street which was $9 for 2 hours. The food was mediocre and very tiny portions. The usual huevos rancheros was just huevo ranchero because it was just one egg on one tostada. I asked to sub the beans for rice and they wouldn't allow it, they wanted to charge me extra for the rice even if I didn't want the beans. The only thing that was remarkable was their chips which had plenty of seasoning on it and the pineapple horchata. The shrimp ceviche came out undercooked. I understand that this ceviche is not flash fried or cooked over heat, but the lime juice is supposed to cook the shrimp. The shrimp came out still grey and when bitten into it was still slimy. The sauce on it was good, but I didn't want to risk food poisoning. When our bill came out we noticed that there were 2 charges for iced tea. Only one of the women in our group ordered and iced tea, and indeed it was refilled. However, the server did not tell us that it was not free refills for iced tea at the time. We ended up talking to the manager and it got taken off, but I feel like they should've disclosed that it was not free refills at the time instead of sneaking it on the bill. read more
