Here's the thing: I grew up in LA, so, I'm a self-proclaimed, mango chili-pop eating, Lucas shaking, tamale whispering, fresa paleta wielding MF. CANNOT recommend their tamales. It was dry, and the masa tasted like banana leaf (Mexican tamales are made in a corn husk, distinctly different from other Latin methods with banana leaves). Masa should be moist, and filling should be savory. The tamale was so hard and I couldn't even see the "pork". Threw it out. WOULD recommend the cheese enchilada if the cheese wasn't hard. Expected it to be melty and gooey and instead my fork and biceps had work to do. WILL come back for their tacos. I like that they cater to the gringo style by offering ground beef, lettuce, cheese, tomato and sour cream. This is unique because a true Mexican taco joint will give you cilantro, onions and salsa at most, so it brings back fond memories of eating Americanized tacos in my high school cafeteria. They still do traditional asada, carnitas, and flavorful shredded chicken tacos as well, don't worry! NACHOS needed salt. Would not order again. read more

Meat was cold etc. Then, last week went in to order to go and after a galh hour asked aboutmy order. They lost it. No apology. No rush to get it done. Just a..do you still want it? I don't know if my family and I went on a bad day but these reviews of the food tasting awesome are pure lies! My family and I got chicken tacos, al pastor tacos, and a BCR with lettuce. (Beans cheese & rice burrito) No one was pleased with their food. Even my 8 year old daughter didn't like her BCR and that's her go to meal. I'm sorry but it had no flavor, the salsa was store bought not homemade and it didn't seem like the meats were fresh. We will never come back here again. Definitely NOT authentic. read more

A nice little spot to pick up Mexican food at a reasonable price. I have been here quite a few times and I am particularly fond of the grande burrito with pastor. When eating the burrito you will get a good mix of all items, meat, cheese, rice, etc. Like any burrito everything is spread out but you can encounter some small pockets with more meat or more beans, etc., not a big deal, if you have eaten enough burritos this can happen. Overall there is enough flavor spread around to still enjoy everything. Salsa is not really necessary unless you want to make it spicier. The chicken sopes is good, it has a nice flavor, and there is chicken in every bite. The chicken is shredded which is a nice touch. It is also great to get a slice or two of avocado hidden within the sopes along with some corn chip strips. We usually get the medium order with 2 tacos and still have to take it home. It makes a great snack later, very reheatable with no real loss of flavor. A good place to go if you want to order out, and get some good food. read more

I really like the food at La Mordida. We pick up dinner from here at least once a week, but what is the deal with the chips?! I have never seen a Mexican food restaurant be more stingy with chips than La Mordida. We usually ask for extra, and even then we only get one extra bag. Down the street at Taqueria Los Gallos they have a self-serve chip thing...all the chips you could possibly want. We picked up dinner from La Mordida a few nights ago and forgot to ask for extra chips. Dinner for 5 people, and we got 7 regular sized chips, and 2 baby chips...look at the photos. I'm writing this review so hopefully they will see it, and maybe start adding an appropriately filled bag of chips per meal, (four burritos=four bags of chips). Chips are cheap enough that it shouldn't be an issue for them to make this change. I still like their food, just fix the chip thing! read more

I have been coming here for at least 5 years because the quality of food was good and there was always friendly service, but I am disappointed how the service has gone downhill. Walking into the restaurant was not the usual experience. The music was blaring way too loud and the person at the counter was not friendly . The interior lights were off which made the place look dark and dingy. The food was just okay and the tostada was skimpy. Taco Monday and Tuesday?? Yes please!! I was craving tacos and this place was recommended to me. They have discounted prices on Monday and Tuesdays. I ordered 2 carnitas and 2 carne asada tacos thinking they would be small because they were discounted. I was WRONG, there was so much meat on the tacos that I was struggling to finish the fourth one. I saw a lot of people order churros as well, so I figured I should order one and eat it for later, which was delicious! I'm so frustrated. placing an order over the phone, you need to speak Spanish. When explaining an order they do not understand you. I actually said goodby the other day when the employee couldn't understand my order. That was money lost for la Mordida. Then today for taco Tuesday I wanted to place an order. They put the phone down 4 separate times while I was try to tell them my order. When they read back my order it was wrong. Their salsa is great,I will always order my taco salad from them ,it is very good. I have frequent this establishment since the day they opened. But service is over phone is so frustrating. . The mole sauce has gotten very weak since they opened. So sad. I hope Gabriel reads this and assigns a Spanish/English speaking person to take orders and better their mole sauce. I can't say enough about this place! You know the've got to be exceptional because, in terms of visibility, they have one of the worst locations possible, yet they have a steady stream of customers coming in, all day, every day. I have yet to have carnitas anywhere else that compares to theirs. It is the best! I often order the taco salad with carnitas. The beans that are in the salad are also better than average and the veggies are always very fresh. The staff are friendly and you get your food in no time. I have been going to this place for years and have always enjoyed their food and service. A recent visit will be my last visit to this establishment unless things change. I paid for my order with a credit card and the worker gave me a copy of my receipt. The worker told me I didn't need to to sign the receipt but I asked about adding a tip. The worker said not to worry about it. I pulled out $20 to ask for change to tip cash and the worker looked around and whispered, "We don't get the tips anyway." I was appalled to hear this. Workers in the food industry rely on tips to make a living and for the owners to deny them this extra income seems criminal. If anyone else can offer some insight on this would be much appreciated. I am obsessed with their Monday & Tuesday soft taco special, $1.25 each. The tacos can be made with: beef, ground beef, pork, chicken, grilled chicken, pastor, carnitas and asada. They are seriously so good! This place can get busy but they make the food fairly quickly so the line moves fast. All of the employees I have interacted with have been extremely friendly and polite. Tonight we ordered two taco salads... one shredded beef and one grilled chicken ( I'm gluten intolerant) . Guacamole and sour cream appeared to be watered down... chicken wasn't grilled but heavy in sauce. I don't eat the shell as it's not GF. We agree the quality has declined and won't return. read more

POTATO TACO, OH HOW I LOVE THEE First potato taco experience! Best thing ever!! Unfortunately our overall experience at LaMor wasn't fabulous, but my crispy potato taco was so good. It's too bad I couldn't put any salsa on it because it was so watered down. I think my husband was a little envious of the crunchy potato taco and he's usually not much of a non-meat guy. But the soft tacos we had with chicken and carnitas just weren't very good. The shells were fresh and that's a big plus, but the meat on the inside of the street-style tacos was a little fatty and we really didn't enjoy the taste. The chips were nice and fresh but the salsas (both regular and hot) were so watered down it was difficult to get much salsa on the chips. And the times we did it was a dripping mess all over the table. The lady working was super nice and even came over to refill our chip basket, even though we didn't have a big order. She had a really friendly smile. The place was overall very clean - well, not the top of our table as we got up to leave! I'd go back for another potato taco if I were around here. For sure! This is officially my new favorite Taqueria since moving to Walnut Creek. There's not a lot of good food nearby and this place isn't too far away. It's actually a lot closer than Monument or anything in Concord but I feel like it's even better than some of my other favorite places. I really feel like their shredded chicken (pollo asado) and carne asada are top notch! Fresh ingredients and a balance of flavors create a beautiful super burrito. What's also nice is there's a regular grande burrito and a super grande burrito so you can get the smaller one for your lady while you are fat and get the super grande! The prices very reasonable. The portions are more than enough. The staff are friendly and attentive. I just don't know why more people aren't coming to this place. Maybe I just go during off hours. Although they have steady traffic picking up food. I can't complain, this place is better than most in the entire bay area! I will say that the carne asada isn't the BEST but it isn't super fatty. It blends well with whatever you order it with. I would say this is pretty authentic Mexican as they have all the standard stuff on the menu. They have a few different types of salsa as well. Their mild is great with chips and to add on whatever you like. The green is pretty spicy and the hot tastes almost like straight fire! I can't really take it lol. Maybe after I build up my tolerance to the green I'll go for the hot. And the last thing you need to know about this place is... CHURROS for $1.50 that are made fresh! I used to think places like Disneyland and The County Fair had the best churros but these things are amazeballs! I'm not sure how they make them but there's like a special gooey cream in the middle of them, almost like a cream cheese frosting or something that is OUT OF THIS WORLD. The food here was fantastic for a little hole in the wall. Was pretty busy which is Keats a good sign. I had the taco salad in the refried shell. My daughter had the beef crispy tacos. We barely paid and sat down and the food was delivered to us hot and yummy! We just got done at Six Flags so we're pretty tired, hungry and, well, needed to use the restroom! This is a 3.5 star taqueria at best. I had a chicken enchilada for $2.95 which was fairly bland both the sauce and chicken. I wouldn't recommend. Also, had 2 carnitas tacos which are on the small side but they compensate by filling it with a good amount of meat. The carnitas were ok but not the best. The star of the day was a asada quesadilla. It was $8.25 but it was filled with asada and was grilled nicely. It came with a side of pico, guacamole and sour cream. This is probably the only thing I would order again with exception to another taco with different meat choice. They do offer free chips and salsa but the past few times I've gotten chips that were stale. Our go-to place for tacos! The crispy tacos are just that, crispy, and surprisingly, not greasy. You can tell they use good quality ingredients, and food is served fresh and hot. Prices are reasonable. Even though this is casual dining, we showed up with 6 family members for a birthday dinner. As two of our party were seniors, we sat at a table to decide what to order, with the intention of ordering at the counter when everybody decided. A very nice young lady came over and took our order at the table even though ordering at the counter is how it is usually done there. She was very sweet and attentive.
