Oh boy, were we wrong! I ordered the poc chuc, which I have previously had at other restaurants in Mérida. This is NOT it! This was a few dry, thin-cut, flavorless strips of fried, stiff pork with "frijoles rancheros," which was a vinegary concoction lacking in flavor and substance. My husband ordered two tacos which were left largely untouched because the flavor simply wasn't anywhere to be found. Ok, so maybe the chef was out sick or on vacation -- that happens and maybe we were unlucky enough to catch him/her on their day off. However, here is the kicker: when the bill arrived, there was this one item that neither of us had ordered. I motioned our server and asked him what the item was and he responded: "ah, another table ordered it and I got my orders mixed up." Yeah, right; another table had ordered the EXACT same food with the EXACT beer to the SAME table. Yeah, right. I am sure of it. He acknowledged my concern and returned in a few minutes with the correct bill. I will say this: People, CHECK your bill before you pay! This is not the first time this has happened before --not at this place, to be fair-- and that is why I never fail to check the bill. Was it a mistake?
