We had a delightful lunch here after touring Monet's gardens. Our initial reservation was at 1pm but we ended up walking over at 11:30am, and they accommodated us. We were say promptly and received wonderful service. I got the chicken meatballs with a cheese sauce and gherkins that was a light lovely meal. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his crispy potatoes and sautéed mushroom salad (one of his favorite meals from the whole trip). I'd recommend anyone to dine here if they are in Giverny. read more

I stayed at the hotel at LA MUSARDIÈRE for two nights and also had dinner at their Restaurant one night. The hotel/restaurant is located steps from the Monet Gardens. It is a perfect location when visiting Giverny. The staff for the hotel and the restaurant were all VERY lovely and spoke English which was quite helpful. I believe the hotel is only 10 rooms. I stayed in the room called "Song Bird". It was a good size, had a renovated/modern bathroom, hard wood floors and a wall with lovely bird wallpaper. I could see birds and even cows from my window and woke to a rooster one morning at 6am. The early wake up was actually something I could not have experienced back home, so was welcomed. I am vegan and while there is no vegan options on the menu they were happy to accommodate me. The chef greeted me and asked if I had a preference or if he could surprise me. I asked for a surprise and he made me a traditional French three course meal that was vegan. The hotel and the restaurant are pricey compared to most places in the USA, but both delivered on all levels so well worth the cost. Both LA MUSARDIÈRE restaurant and hotel come highly recommended. read more

Great restaurant near Monet's home. Must have reservations and get there early enough to try the chef's tasting menu. I enjoyed the starters and my veggie entree. The crème brûlée was great, but the French toast with goat cheese wasn't my favorite. They have parking available but you need the code to enter. read more

We came here for lunch after visiting Monet's house as I'm sure many people do. We were 100% relaxed and hoping to have a special lunch. The Perfect Egg was quite good but unfortunately that's where the fun ended! I ordered the mushroom ravioli which was very tough. Could not cut through it with a fork and really had to dig with my knife to get a bite-sized piece. The taste was okay but the texture was just not. I don't want to fight with my ravioli. It was also in the same mushroom foam as the perfect egg. My husband ordered lamb chops, took one bite and spit it into his napkin. He said it was fatty and gristle-y and inedible. We called someone over to send our meals back and had to go through an interview process about why. It was odd. Two different people came over to question us before taking the plates away. We just wanted to go at that point, there was nothing else on the menu for me (vegetarian) and my husband was just over the whole thing. So they brought the bill and had charged us for the ravioli and the lamb chops. I said we would pay for the ravioli since I had eaten a bite, but not the lamb chops. They said once you take a bite, you pay. This insanity went on for 20 minutes and they finally took the drinks off our bill because they said the chef refused to take the lamb off. I think the bottom line is you are not allowed to not like the food here! If you like to argue with rude people this restaurant is for you! read more

This is a lovely restaurant by Claude Monet gardens and home. Good there was surpringly excellent! I picked a smoked salmon crepe, Ron picked a ham and Emmenthal crepe. We both added a green salad. It was so delicious that despite its very large portion we ate everything! The crepes are made with Sarrazin flour ( dark whole wheat). All ingredients are high quality, fresh and dishes are pretty, well-balanced. read more

Wonderful crêpes and galettes at an inn from another era, just down the street from Claude Monet's home and gardens in Giverny. I was hesitant to eat at a restaurant so close to a tourist attraction, but it turned out to be a true country gem, not a tourist trap at all. In fact, the inn was operational when Monet lived there, and has changed little since then (except perhaps the prices... ). I started with their specialty apéritif made with raspberry champagne and fresh raspberries, similar to a kir royal. I loved it! For lunch I had the raclette galette, which is a savory buckwheat crêpe filled with cheese, ham and onions. (Foodie note: The way to spot a high-quality galette is that it should be a very thin light brown pancake full of delicate little holes, so it resembles a sheet of lace.) Dessert was a sweet crêpe filled with locally grown baked apples (for which the region is known) and flamed calvados. Yumm! Everything was absolutely delicious. It was a bit chilly, so we sat in the enclosed patio, which has views of the surrounding countryside. There was also outdoor seating that would be lovely in warmer weather. The prices are a bit higher than they would be without the proximity of Monet's house, but for a lovely and delicious afternoon I thought it was worth it. Be sure to poke around the inn for a glimpse into a quaint and beautiful past! I didn't stay overnight, but for a fan of Impressionism who wants to spend a bit more time in the area I think it would be a perfect choice. read more

This is how things work at La Musardière: you order a dish, taste it, it's very bad so you make a complaint, tough titties, you get an argument and will be asked to pay full price for the dish anyway. It is not permitted to not like the food here. We ordered a lamb dish and a ravioli dish. The lamb was tepid, grey and fatty - tasted vile. The ravioli was like leather. We took one bite from each, were appalled at the poor, poor quality so decided to leave. We were presented with the bill for the full price of the meal and when we tried to question it were told that they didn't like our 'tone' and insisted, INSISTED that we pay full price. The whole experience was really shocking. You do not treat customers this way. So strange. My advice to anyone reading this is give this place a miss. The chef clearly believes they are God's gift to the culinary world and should a customer have the audacity to point out that the food is actually not that great, they can shove it and pay full price anyway. read more

Although we did not stay at the hotel, we spent some time here after a long day of sightseeing at Monet's home. It is a darling inn, close the the attraction, but not touristy at all. we had a chance to look around at the quaint rooms, and enjoyed some crepes and wine on the beautiful outdoor patio. The service was great, the owners were so friendly. I would definitely stay here on my next trip. It's a lovely setting! read more
