I love an "I'm full but the food is so good so let me eat more" type of night!…read more Let me just start off by saying I never would've guessed I'd find great tapas in London! This place was super cute, spacious, and played some good music that paired well with the atmosphere and theme of the restaurant. The servers were very kind and knowledgeable of the menu as well. We started off with a meat platter, chargrilled bread with tomatoes along with two delicious cocktails. For our tapas we ordered the *Patatas Fritas *Crispy Pork Belly *Grilled Salmon Filet (the only dish I wasn't super crazy about) *Alitas De Pollo *Croquetas De Bacalao *Chuletas De Cordero Even after all this, there is always room for a little treat! There's no way we could leave here without ordering churros, and I'm so glad we did!! We also added a bonus sangria , because why not? This is one of my many places I will revisit when I return to London. Highly recommend. More details/descriptions in my pics :)

The kitchen staff really know their stuff, producing classics with flair. Presentation is great - all their dishes look so appealing and sophisticated. The cocktail menu is excellent and worth popping in for alone, or paired with a snack at the bar. I'd recommend booking on weekends as it gets really busy and altho' the restaurant has just recently expanded in size, it is still buzzing with clientele. It's difficult to say what is best, but I love their rosemary manchego with quince jelly. The fish, meatballs, jambon, squid, aubergine, ah... so many fantastic dishes. Try everything ! you can't go wrong. .... visiting a month later, and I'd just add that the paella and squid-ink risotto were superb on Saturday night.

Sitting by the window in Pamphylia felt like an alternate universe as it was like Cilicia only back-to-front. I love the decor in both, lots of plants and colourful hanging lanterns. I haven't been in either restaurant at night but it must look lovely all lit up. Now, it was a toss up here between 3 and 4 stars and I think I'll have to return sometime soon to make my final decision about adding that extra star. You see the service was ok, not overly friendly but then not rude either and there was a chilled out atmosphere - I didn't feel harassed into ordering quickly (which was handy as the menu was extensive!) I ordered a ginger beer and, well, it was horrible really. It was like watered down, flat cordial or something. Nothing like ginger beer, I couldn't even taste any ginger! I decided against the tapas and went for the mains. I had a wrap with grilled chicken and grilled halloumi, my better half had the lamb kofte. Both meals were seriously tasty, very flavourful but THERE WASN'T ENOUGH FOOD! We left hungry :-( It was a very quiet Saturday and I've often seen Pamphylia packed out at the weekends so I need to go back to see if this is a one-off or if all of their portions are this size. Disappointing though - so much potential. Not to sound like Oliver Twist but "Please Pamphylia, I want some more!"

Actually, it was for £5.95, just to make you think it was a little over a fiver as opposed the lofty, ridiculous price of six pounds. It was ok. Hence three stars. I loved the garlic potatoes, but the spanish omelette, calamari and bread were nothing spectacular. The lemonade was just Schwepps, but cost the same as one tapas. (I know what you're thinking, '595 isn't divisible by 3'. Alright, so I'm rounding. Estimating. Live with it. I had to.) It was a nice sunny day so we sat outside, which was very pleasant. The service was quick and friendly, but I'd scope round the area for something else before I rushed back, if truth be told.

Not being too…read morewell-versed in the food of Spain, I couldn't exactly tell you from which region(s) the food hails. Tapas, side dishes and larger shared plates make up the menu. Vegetarians and Pescatarians will not go hungry here. And, of course, meat eaters will be pleased with the selection. I was angling for the leg of lamb (meant for 2-3 persons), but my dining companions were not keen. The space is narrow, candle-lit and, on the night we dined, filled with patrons. There are two 2-tops out front and a short bar accommodating approx. four diners. 2-tops, four-tops and, at least, one larger table fill the floor. Behind the bar I spied beer, wine, port, and some spirits. Our fare was tasty & attractively arranged. We had anchovies (warning: the vinegar hit the back of our throats and made our eyes water), black rice with squid, tortilla with a ramekin of aioli, broad beans with ham and a sauteed spinach side. The last two dishes were garnished with roasted garlic clove. The service was friendly, informative and, considering how busy the resto was, not terribly slow. My tiny quibble would have been the shape of the wine glasses. They resembled a, sort of, wide-mouthed, stout cylinder, if that makes sense. It made for a bit of an awkward grip-n-sip when one drank. Raucous music reminiscent of Les Negres Vertes played over the loud speakers and made for a peppy, upbeat dining experience that I much enjoyed.

Now, thanks to Black Pig with White Pearls it also has Spanish tapas. I was a regular patron of the restaurant which used to inhabit the space so I was curious to see what the new owners had done with it. The decor is what you could call Spanish hipster; black walls and simple tables are embellished with candelabras and cardboard bull heads wearing pearls. It manages to be spare, striking, and yet homey at the same time. The people who run it are relaxed and friendly so the whole atmosphere is really pleasant. Yeah yeah, but how was the food? Delicious! We shared five plates and a dessert, all of which were tasty. The padron peppers with sea salt were perfectly done, the lamb dish was tender and flavourful, and the croquetas were light and rich at the same time. If you're interested in going, make a reservation! They were able to seat us at the bar, but you might not be so lucky. It's pricy enough so that I won't be going very often, but the next time I want to have a slightly more special meal, I'll be sure to call ahead. I might even wear pearls.

Time things right though and a table here is yours for the taking. With Serrano Jambon legs dangling in the street-facing windows, Laxeiro Tapas Bar was the most inviting looking place in the area but a 45-minute wait and a laissez faire seating policy discouraged me from hanging around when hunger first hit. A short time later though, I returned to an abundance of seats and no wait (though it didn't stay that way). Timing is everything. The Spanish menu here is enticing as is the casual, warm feeling of the place. The food, all of it, was good but I can't honestly say that anything stood out as great. Solid and satisfying but not "oh my God"-inducing. A meal such as this, which featured Paella, Boquerones, Albondigas, Shrimp, a cheese plate and more (yes, I overordered - no regrets), pretty much demands an alcohol accompaniment. The wine offerings here are will cause one to linger and I did. Others seemed to be doing the same. We skipped the queue to be seated but then it took awhile to order. I would dock a star for how frazzled the service was but the food well made up for it. I thought I was transported back to Spain - the boquerones were a highlight and even the simple Jamon was divine. Perfect saturation of olive oil and dash of tomato. We also had the paella - the rice was perfection - just the right balance of crisp and moist. Then we had the pulpo which was a bit too smoky for my taste but well seasoned. My only regret is not ordering any drinks as we had our two toddlers and needed to keep our wits about us. Must return!
