After a full day touring the D-Day sites, we were ready for a memorable dinner. The location was easy to find and the exterior was inviting. Staff were attentive, fluent in English, and great at walking us through the menu. On that note, so was every other guest in the restaurant. Literally every table appeared to be American, including a fairly boisterous group seated right next to us. It was a jarring contrast to the quieter, more intimate French restaurants we'd visited earlier in the trip. The food was a mixed bag. The turbot fillet was outstanding, easily among the best fish I've ever had, and the mango and passion fruit rice pudding was a wonderful finish. The rest of the meal, though, didn't leave much of an impression for the price. Speaking of price, come prepared for a steep bill. And if the Michelin star draws you in hoping for an authentic French atmosphere, you may leave a little underwhelmed. On our walk home we passed a charming local spot and all quietly wished we'd eaten there instead.

We arrived shortly after they opened and were offered a table for two near the grill. The space is very charming and we appreciated the excellent service we received. We shared an order of grilled meat and grilled fish, which came with a fresh salad. For sides we had roasted potatoes and the cauliflower dish. Both grilled options were delicious and I couldn't stop eating the cauliflower. For dessert, I got the Lupin which is a crepe served with homemade chocolate, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and homemade whipped cream. The Mr. claimed he was too full for dessert, so didn't order any. When he saw mine, he was very sorry he didn't indulge, because I wasn't really willing to share more than one bite! Haha. La Flottille doesn't take reservations so time your arrival carefully, or else you will find yourself lined up outside.

This place was busy!! We however got lucky and was seated right away. The serve staff was running around like crazy as it was super busy, however, they still were able to be friendly and provide whatever attention you needed. There prices are reasonable considering the location in the center of the town and by the beach. There restaurant is small with outdoor dining also. There is a huge wood burning fire area where the steaks are grilled. So large he chef sticks his head in to tend the meat. This is the source of the smell that drew us to this restaurant. We all had various galettes. Normande - Very Good. The camembert dominated this galette. Sausage - Good. The sausage was tasty. Could have used less mustard. Chicken - Creamy and good flavour combination. Galette Complete - Ham, cheese , egg. Good also, egg done well. For desert: Pie tart with caramel salted toffee - yummy. Not too sweet. Pear with vanilla ice cream was good, a good balance. Perfetto roll: Yummy - the whipping cream was fluffy and fresh. Very light with good presentation. Everything we ate here was excellent. Wish we could have tried more food.
