Stopped here for lunch on our way through town. We had the chicken & spinach enchiladas & chicken chipotle burrito. The enchiladas were ok, tortillas tasted a little dry, but the sauce was good, just not warm. The burrito was great, just nothing special. Kind of your typical family owned Mexican restaurant. Chips & salsa were ok, not spicy at all. Good customer service, and good food. Just didn't blow us away. read more

We have been MANY times and have tried different items each time. Everything has been delicious. I was thrilled to see some real seafood dishes on the menu. Not deep fried fish pieces made into a taco, but fillets that have been cooked perfectly. La Paloma offers entrées not available anywhere else in Springfield- take a chance and order something different and find a NEW favorite. read more

This is the first experience here & I wont go back. I ordered a chimichanga & it was the smallest chimichanga I have ever been served anywhere. The menu say covered with cheese sauce & it was not. My friend asked for extra cheese on "The Michelle" & instead they put a whole order of cheese in a very small container & charged her 4.00 for it. The food was nothing outstanding. First time diner here. Excellent food - probably the best in Springfield, and some of the best I've ever had. Not only was the food delicious, they understand presentation! The service was somewhat slow, but, attentive. The menu offerings are different than the usual Mexican fare, which is very refreshing. As far as price, they are similar to most other Mexican restaurants in the Springfield area. The decor is very nice - and no loud background music. I brought my mom here for her birthday and we had a top-notch experience. The service was friendly and prompt (our server Pedro was great). The menu is ambitious, reaching beyond the typical tex-mex fare. I had a margarita, which was homemade and delicious; no high-fructose corn syrup to be found. The table side guacamole was excellent. Everyone loved their entree. They have live entertainment on Fridays from a duo called "The Latin Experience", and they were very fun and talented. The prices are fair. My husband picked up an order to go. He was thrilled to see familiar faces from what used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant in Springfield! That lasted until we unpacked our order. The warm and fuzzy feeling dissapated quickly. My husband ordered taco and two enchiladas. He said the taco was horrible with nothing but a little meat. Not tasty or appealing in anyway. The enchiladas were barely passable certainly well below the standard of an eat in establishment. My order was completely the wrong item. The quesdellia was soggy with mystery meat. It was chicken perhaps but grilled I don't believe. The texture of the chicken was more closely related to an over processed chicken type product or chicken flavored tofu. The entire mess tasted as if it was steamed. My fault for expecting it to be grilled. Read the menu carefully and check the order prior to going to the "cook". I'm puzzled how the place has gotten all the high ratings on YELP. It's made me rethink relying too much on the reviews. Hope the great staff can pull this place up from the what it is to what it could be. Good luck to the staff. We won't be returning when money would be better spent at fast food drive through.. read more

What's not to like about this place. HUGE margaritas and draft beers. Good portions. Fair prices. Great quality. I get the Durango special every time - mmmm, mmmm good!! Staff is always good to us and the kids. Chips are salsa are plentiful. This place is on our regular rotation. I have been here twice and both times the food was very good. They offer a different menu than the average Mexican resturant. The staff was friendly and attentive. I have one problem and it was the margaritas, I don't know what the mix they use but it has a funky sweet flavor that I didn't like. The other four people with me on both occasions thought the same thing. So food good but wish they would change their margarita mix. I like Prima's margaritas wish they would use thier mix.. I did try the house and top shevle with different Tequila and they all had that funky taste. read more

If you want good TexMex Mexican food, run, don't walk to La Paloma. We moved up to SW MO from TX almost 17 years ago and spent many years hoping for a Mexican restaurant which actually made TexMex like we had in Texas. I had the Quesadilla with both chicken and beef (it actually looked more like a burrito) and the flavor of the whole dish was terrific. The meat had good, seasoned flavor, not just grilled with no flavor. I took fajitas home to my husband and he agreed that it was one of the best we've had in a long time. I hope this place is supported by the locals ( I live over one hour away or would be here quite often to get my TexMex fix) and I will be back as soon as I can. Try the queso, very tasty and their salsa is good, too. One final note about the fajitas - NO tomatoes! TexMex in TX never had tomatoes in their fajitas, so I am glad to find a place that skips tomatoes! read more

I found it to be just like any other Mexican Restaurant in Springfield. Nothing spectacular.. I think it's what your use to from Mexican food growing up and the midwestern flair is just not the same as out west. Taste is bland and I find the Chinese food the same in this area. Had the Carne Asada Tacos and the tortillas were flour instead of homemade corn tortillas and the meat was dry. The rice had no flavor. Sorry, still looking. read more

They were rather bland for a Mexican restaurant. Since the menu enticed me, I came back again and tried the review recommended California burrito - still bland. Both these items have the spinach cream sauce, so if and when I come back, I will try something that doesn't use this sauce. read more

Amazing food and decor, we have never been let down regardless of what we order! The only criticism is that they seem to struggle regarding service when the place gets crowded. Unfortunately, we have never been there when it was not crowded!
