This store was recommended in a 10 year old article in the New York Times. I looked on line and…read morethere it was. I emailed and asked questions of the owner Denis Estienne about ordering leather club chairs. Very pleasant exchange of emails in English. I ordered 2 chairs and 2 ottomans and paid 3000 euros and 1000 euros for shipping in crates to me in California. Because my place was being remodeled I told them to take there time. It took about a year to complete the remodeling. I emailed to ask if the chairs were ready and got an affirmative response from Denis. I responded that I hoped Antik France was doing well, it was good news that the chairs were ready, and please ship them. I got a reply that I should send another 300 euros because the cost of shipping increased. I did not mind so much because such things happen, but I also noticed that the euro had dropped since I paid for the furniture. I wondered if I was being conned. I sent an email asking if there was a cheaper way to send the chairs so I would not have to pay extra. There was no response so I sent another email. Again, there was no response and I assumed I caught the store during vacation (it was January). In February I emailed again and asked if the chairs could be sent to my friends at an address in Spain. No response. In March I emailed again. No response. This happened in late 2009 to early 2011 during the recession. I know most furniture companies were ailing. Maybe Antik France was suffering financial hardship. But I cannot excuse Denis for asking for more money and then not responding to my emails when I refused. Antik France took 4000 euros from me and never delivered the goods.
