A must stay if you are ever in this part of the world! If you ever decide to drive from Barcelona to Madrid, you have to stop in Calaceite, make sure you've already booked yourself a room at El Cresol and I promise you, that you're in for a magical treat. Trust me! No, really, TRUST me! The tiny hotel used to be an ancient Olive oil mill dating back to the 1700's (yes, the 18th century). In 2002 the private residence was bought by the current owners and opened to the public as a 6 room hotel. (During that time there were no other hotels in the area.) The interior of the hotel is spectacular and each room is decorated differently and named after individual olives that are specific to the region. Rosa is the sweetest and most wonderful host. She made us feel so warmly welcomed and spent time with us showing us the property and telling us all the history, olives, wine of this lovely retreat and the surrounding enchanting tiny city that is Calaceite. That is why I give this place a three. Location was great! Two feet from the beach and A/C. Surrounding restaurants and bars. The staff needs work. It gets an extra star because the pool is nice and cold! Just make sure to accommodate yourself when you come here and you will be fine! Lol
