Overall: La Quiche Parisienne Bistro is a gem in Albuquerque serving up excellent French food. Food: 4.5 Pastries: The croissant had a crispy and flaky exterior. I just wish the inside was a little fluffier and layered. The pain au chocolate was excellent and had good chocolate inside of it. Quiche Champignon: I love that they make individual sized quiches instead of selling slices. I wish there was a little more mushroom but otherwise delicious. Chicken Salad Croissant: This was the unanimous favorite of the table. The chicken salad was creamy but wasn't too heavy because of the acidity. Frenchy: This French dip was simple and contained just roast beef and mustard. The baguette was crispy but not hard. Service: 4.5 Our sever was very patient with our requests. Food did not take too long to come out. My main gripe is that it took awhile to get seated but that is not the servers fault. It was just packed and they need more help! On my second visit to this place, I found some consisten and inconsistent features. The place is nice and with enough space for decent crowds. They display their breads, pastries, and quiches proudly. The eye easily wants to looks at those colors and textures. Starting this journey, the better half and my friend ordered deliciously buttered croissants. They don't need anything else, believe me. I started with a tiny bowl of cafe au lait. Then, we ordered our breakfast: a breakfast casserole, the Paris sandwich, and the croque monsieur. The sandwich and the breakfast casserole were great and tasty, as described by my party. My croque monsieur was, unfortunately a let down. The bread was soggy and floppy. The ham inside was good but the overall flavor of the sandwich was mediocre. The fries were the hero of my dish, though. Our server was attentive, quick, and funny. However, waiting 40 mins for our food to come out with two-thirds of the tables filled, and seeing later parties getting their food wait ahead of hours, left a bitter taste in my mouth. The food is amazing but the service is horrible. We were told it was about 10 minutes wait and there was a couple in front of us. There were several tables all set and ready but they didn't seat us. My mom in her late 80's questioned the waitress after waiting 20 minutes and the waitress was rude and defensive even telling my mom not to be rude to her. There was a table right where we were standing as well as several empty tables and they offered no apology for leaving us standing by the door which was getting more crowded every few minutes. There were so many patrons jammed into the doorway and the waitress even asked us to move out of her way so she could get thru. All in all the management of the restaurant didn't handle the Sunday morning rush well at all and I hope they can improve the system. read more

4.5 stars Came here yesterday for a Saturday morning breakfast. My friend and I had walked in to check out the menu after shopping a few months ago and decided that we must return. Service was friendly and a little on the slower side (about 45 minutes from arrival to food being placed on the table), so enjoy and sip your coffee while you wait. The place was about half full during our visit. Even some lunch items on the menu were available for breakfast (like the beef bourguignonne). My friend just got a plain coffee and I got the cafe au lait (which was served in a bowl and frothy but not sweet). I got the crepes (2) and added Nutella as the filling with fruit on the side. The fruit was fresh and flavorful, the thin layer of Nutella in the crepes wasn't overly heavy. My friend got the Le Savory (an egg stuffed croissant with bacon and tomato and on the side, potatoes with a green chile cream sauce). The croissant had a crispy, flaky coating on the outside when cutting into it. The assortment of pastries and desserts was decadent and we ordered two croissants and a chocolate almond tart to go. The tart (complete with gold glitter on top) was an amazing combination of nutty and rich. All in all, we will probably be back so I'll report on the quiche next time. Pretty good experience! This restaurant is close to my house, so convenience led my husband and I to try it out. Service wise, experience was lackluster. There were a few open tables but the staff didn't acknowledge us or sit us for quite a while. I was kind of surprised they didn't say anything because I'm very obviously pregnant and was just standing around waiting. The food wasn't amazing either, but it was pretty good. I'd go back because the convenience and food being ok- but if I lived further away I wouldn't make the trek. Hopefully the service problem was a one time deal. The first time I tried the delicious pastries from La Quiche was at their farmers market stand a few years ago--the chocolate almond croissant was life-changing, and I don't say that lightly. The filling, the rich chocolate is the perfect balance of flavors and textures. I didn't know about their restaurant until a few years later, and it's a shining example of what a French restaurant should be. The place is tiny. You walk in and wait to be seated. If you're there for fresh-baked bread and pastries, head straight to the counter for quicker service. It's a bit loud, a bit chaotic, but in the best way. You can see the cooks working hard in the open kitchen, sweating and moving fast to whip up something amazing. The servers are kind and attentive, and the food is out of this world. The mussels are incredible, which are hard to come by in this landlocked state, but these were high quality. They have several quiche options to take home or enjoy in-house, but my favorite dish is their classic breakfast: buttery eggs, a buttery croissant, and perfectly cooked potatoes in a rich green chile cream sauce that's to die for. I had read good reviews and organized 11 people for brunch. Disappointing Coffee cup was dirty, food plate had old caked on food under the lip, plastic debris was in the soup. The menu and website say they do separate checks but got there and were told by the same waitress at various times in the service that they can do 6 checks for our group, no, it's 5 checks, and ultimately they only gave us one check and we all had to scramble for cash or online payments between us. The food was fine, nothing special in my opinion. Only 2 waitstaff for the entire place and our waitress was overwhelmed and very confused. Long wait for her to take our order. We were nice and tipped her as it wasn't her fault--this appears to be a management issue. Ultimately then I see that the health dept shut them down 3 weeks ago for being dirty. I have consistently experienced poor service at this restaurant, and my most recent visit was especially disappointing. During brunch on a Saturday, I asked for a small ramekin of butter for my bread. I fully expected there might be an extra charge and was prepared to pay for it. However, the waitress told me that the only butter available in the restaurant was the single-serving disposable packets in plastic containers. When I asked how the restaurant prepares pastries and other French dishes without having butter available in a tub or stick form, she realized the explanation did not make sense. She stepped away to speak with the manager and returned to say they were "out of butter." It is difficult to believe that a French restaurant serving brunch had completely run out of butter in the middle of service. I have supported this establishment many times, but this experience was frustrating and disappointing. I am not a difficult customer, and I rarely write reviews. However, being given an explanation that felt dishonest over something as simple as butter has made me decide not to return. read more

Bottom line: EAT HERE! Experience it at least once. I personally love this place and have been following them from downtown to the far east side for years. My husband and I love going here. It's one of our special spots. Food: mussels provencale (spelling might be off) are glorious and the fries and bread that come with it are heavenly. Hubby gets either the frenchy or the patè (sandwiches). We wash it all down with a few glasses of champagne. Food to-go: Take home some of their quiches! They keep well and bake very easily. Pro tip: dip the bread into the broth of the mussels .... It's another favorite part. Service: On any given day the service might be slow but I swear it's worth it. Very bad service. Got plastic in soup. Owner didn't even offer to compensate for soup! Also services was very bad. Waitress forgot to bring silverware, cream with coffee, mixed up plates, made a huge fuss about dividing a check in two. The manager was even worse. Dug his heels in when one of the party complained about the waitress being recalricant with dividing checks. I would recommend skipping this place. . . very poor service and management and you might get a bit full of plastic in your food. read more

The food was delicious as always and the service was great. It's a cute little French style bistro with a menu and a baked goods counter. Lots of different things to try! I got the Le Classic Salmon special and it was wonderful. The salmon was great, the poached eggs were just right and perfectly done. It was a much bigger serving than I expected especially once you account for the salad, so some of it came home with me for leftovers. Everything I've had here has been quite good. It's a breakfast/lunch spot and is quite popular so can get pretty crowded on the weekends. It's definitely worth a stop in though! My first visit to this establishment. I was invited by a friend for lunch. We met on a Saturday. We were seated immediately, staff was friendly, and attentive. The decor is casual and relaxed, with aged wood on tables, and interesting wall art to give images of France. The menu is simple French fare, and prices match the quality of the food. Ugh, is there a single restaurant in Albuquerque that can be consistently decent? I was hoping for it today at La Quiche. craving just a yummy bowl of French onion soup. What did I get? A cold bowl (" be careful it's hot!") of broth with nicely, caramelized, onions, and a hunk of cheese bread. Yes, that's the basic recipe for French onion soup. I got the Parisienne Omelette and there was a short brown hair folded and cooked into my omelette. Mind you, I have long red hair and my boyfriend's hair is too long as well. She said well you shouldve told me before I brought this out to you. I explained to her thats why we were trying to flag her down to tell her but that I wasn't able to get her attention. She hesitated and then left, then I heard her scoff when she got around the corner. When she came back, she threw the bill back on the table. We just sent the card back at the same time. I didn't even wanna look at the bill, I just wanted to leave at this point because the total time spent waiting for her was probably 20-25 minutes. I should have looked at the bill because they took 60 cents off of my meal and 65 cents off my boyfriends meal. A total of $1.05 taken off... seriously? I will never go back. I asked for an almond croissant and the waitress seemed to give every other table one and didn't follow up with us for 20 minutes, I assume to avoid the crowd that was waiting for tables at the entrance, right by our table. Ambiance was very loud. I don't plan on coming back to this restaurant and would not recommend it to a friend. This was one of three times in my life where I thought about leaving no tip. Located in the Heights off of Eubank and in a strip mall area where you might not expect to find some of the best French pastries in town. I went on a Sunday a few hours before they closed but they had already sold out of a few of the pastries, including the one I initially intended to order. Oh well, the chocolate almond croissant was very very good. The baguette is also fantastic by Albuquerque standards and the perfect addition to a Sunday picnic. The service was on the slower side even for just ordering stuff at the counter but they were very friendly. How have I never been to La Quiche Parisienne Bistro before? We wandered in by chance this morning, and what a wonderful discovery! The atmosphere is warm, charming, and unmistakably French--made even more authentic by the lovely sound of French being spoken by the staff. My daughter picked out a gorgeous pastry that tasted just as good as it looked, my husband had an almond croissant that was perfectly flaky and rich, and I ordered a pâté sandwich that I'm still thinking about. There were a handful of other tables seated and enjoying their meals, which surprised me for a Thursday morning and I took it as a good sign! The food is fine, however you cannot depend on the owner. He decides on a moment's notice that he is going to close at 1:18 pm on Saturday instead of the 3:00 PM that is posted on that day's sign. Also, we have been seated at a table inside and when the server brings it to our table,we are told, "You have to go eat at an outdoor table. The owner says he doesn't want to have a Service Dog sitting under an indoor table. " I explained that he is wearing a leather harness engraved 'The Seeing Eye' and I have our Graduation ID card in my wallet which the owner has insisted to look at every time we come in here. The server apologized and said, "The boss is a jerk and he knows that he is breaking the law by making you eat outside but says it is his Bistro and he will say who can eat inside and who can eat outside." We have never gone back since. If that owner were smart, he would sell to one of his excellent staff members. Any one of them would be a great improvement, and make a lot more money. I was in the food industry for twenty years and knew that my customers were the ones who fed my family...I would never have treated a customer like that. What a disappointment! Paper plates, condiments served in packets, extra credit card fees, burnt quiche, and nonexistent service. And cheap, cheap, cheap (but not inexpensive). I had wanted to try this place after seeing it when I visited Page 1 Books, which is just as few doors down. I ordered the chorizo quiche with fries for brunch. The quiche was made with chorizo, goat cheese, and cream. After dropping off the food, we did not see the server again until it was time to settle the bill, which we had to close at the service counter. No drinks were refilled or plates taken away. The quiche was overcooked, and it was served on a paper plate with a single ketchup packet for the fries. It felt exceptionally cheap; even McDonalds gives you a condiment cup if requested and their food isn't burnt. At close, there's a surprise 3.5% service fee for using a credit card. The $14 quiche, tax, and 3.5% credit card charge made for a bill completely non-commensurate with the experience. Hit a local grocer and pick up a quiche from their deli instead; at least it won't be burnt. read more

Charged five dollars for corporate coffee that I would get from Dunder Mifflin. I really hate to leave a bad review.
