Alice and her husband chef Bernard have created an oasis just outside Saint Remy. It's a totally beautiful place - garden, art gallery, restaurant, with touches of great detail and care. Nothing has been overlooked, all blend into a perfect evening of dining. On arrival you are shown to either the lower patio or garden for aperitifs. You'll already feel relaxed and happy. Alice brings out her menu book - she has lovingly hand-written every menu for each day - and describes each dish. The menu is short - as it should be - and includes local ingredients, including things from their garden. Their wine expert helps you plan your evening wines. Again, a short list of terrific wines, most available by the glass. We had 3 or 4 flights, beginning with Champagne and ending with a Cote de Beaune with the cheese course. By the way, Alice and the waitstaff all speak perfect English, except for one young lady, who was so sweet you were almost glad she didn't. Delicious and interesting amuses were brought out with out Champagne, and your contentment level goes up another notch. For dinner you move to the upper patio or garden, just outside the gallery room. It's truly lovely - the art gallery begins to glow around sunset. Everything is of a piece - the teardrop (or artist's palette) shaped tables, the china, the candelabras, the table hangers for the ladies' handbags. We were dressed up a bit, but the locals were very casual. Food was uniformly delicious, langoustine entree, tuna and John Dory mains, dessert and cheese course. The tuna was impeccable - beautiful presentation, accompanied by local garden ingredients like baby wild asparagus and baby radishes, perfectly cooked. Service was gracious yet casual. I hope Alice and Bernard are still providing a beautiful experience. It was for us.

The husband and wife proprietors of Mas l'amarine were surprisingly young and yet executed flawlessly! She was the front person and just delightful. He was the chef and was concerned and accommodating to our individual dietary needs. The decor is very modern in an chateau setting, which for us and our friends was a fun departure from the usual Provençal experience. The kitchen was apparently open by European standards but not at all by American standards...in fact couldn't see it from the dining room. I mention only because apparently some old school patrons have been put off by the decor and close kitchen arrangements. In my opinion you would be missing out on an exceptional meal by judging by those narrow standards. The presentation of the food was beautiful and our table ordered each entree option. The lamb with smokey herbs was truly memorable. The venison was amazing and both the sea bass and red snapper were exceptional. The fresh seasonal mushroom starter was exceptional as well. The desserts didn't disappoint either!! Can you tell that we were delighted by everything?? Anyhow, point is, if you are in the area, it is a MUST visit if you want a great foodie experience. Enough space for international travelers to unpack comfortably. Lovely views over the village rooftops. While there was an air-con/heating unit, we didn't need it during our stay as the weather was temperate enough to enjoy open windows. The bathroom was a good size and innovative in design for a relatively compact space. The shower pressure was excellent. For amenities only liquid soap in a pump dispenser was in the bathroom. Be advised that there is no lift which will be an issue for those who cannot negotiate stairs. The lovely hosts do assist with luggage. The Staff: Ute and Benoit are totally charming - happy to chat and provide advice/assistance. Food: Continental breakfast was delicious and substantial - consisting of yoghurt, breads/pastries, fruit platter, coffee, and juice. We had dinner at a local restaurant which is literally a pleasant three minute walk from the hotel. Parking: Parking instructions, and parking permit, are emailed to you upon acceptance of your reservation. You need to print the permit and leave it on the dashboard of your car. While you can drive into the village between 7pm - 10am, the streets are quite narrow and some may find it challenging. Outside of these hours you will need to carry your luggage over the cobblestone streets to reach the hotel. Overall Impression: A unique, charming hotel for an overnight stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return!

Our visit with our English innkeepers, Richard and Carrie, was such a delight. They were great…read moreguides and provided great direction on what towns to go visit. As a result, we visited not just the tourist spots like Pont du Gard, but wonderfully surprising small towns such as Gordes and Uzes and small wineries and restaurants in between. They loaned us lots of things and were very gracious. It was like visiting with your favorite Aunt and Uncle, but without the family obligation or drama. Plus it was helpful getting such detailed advice without the stress of having to translate it from French. As for the B&B itself, it's a lovely place situated a short walk from town, so it's quieter than being in the center of town but with the convenience of being able to walk to the wonderful market or cute shops/restaurants. The street was difficult to find by car without a map or GPS, and we didn't travel the way the website assumed we would. But once we ended up there, we were enchanted by the lovely terrace, sitting areas and lovely pool. The bedrooms were plenty big and the beds were comfortable. It would have been nice to have a door on the shower, but it was fine. There is a small water canal behind the property so there's always a sound of running water which is nice if you keep the windows open, however then you are subject to hearing cars pass on the short shared driveway which is only an issue if you're a very light sleeper. The breakfasts were as good as french continental breakfasts get. Nice muesli, yogurt, fresh delicious! croissants every day with a wonderful selection of spreads (delicious homemade preserves and local honeys), coffee/tea or juice. I don't think many places in France do eggs/hot breakfasts unfortunately, otherwise I'd drop a star. We very much enjoyed Saint Remy and our stay at Mas de Tourterelles and I'll add that October was a very nice time to go.

We had a suite, with an open rooftop patio, on the top of the Hotel. Comfy King beds, clean and great big old fashioned bath tub (all renovated) The owner slips my mind right now but she was so sweet, helpful and gives you your space if you want it. The price of the room is under $200 and reasonable. If you can find the place on GPS, we did not, you go down a tiny little alley and once you find the door, it opens to a sweet courtyard with all the rooms above it, including her house (and the dog) She has a very sweet little room where she serves the breakfast and leaves her wine fridge open for you to have a glass of nice rose before or after you dinner. Very tasty, fresh fruits, jams, breads and meats for breakfast. We hope to return here one down and enjoy the town longer. I am sure you will not be disappointed in Saint Remy and mostly your accommodations if you stay here.

The downtown of Saint Rémy is so cute and charming and this property is directly in the center of the historic downtown. The streets in this part of town are walking only but it is very easy to park a few blocks away in the free parking provided by the property owner Christine. Christine is so amazing. I can't write it all here because my review would take up two many pages, but she makes your stay special and is there to assist and recommend in any way. She provides a lovely breakfast every morning with fresh croissants and baguettes, delicious jams, French ham and meats, fruits, etc. Quite a lovely spread. The property is so beautiful and charming. Something straight out of a dream. The room was lovely and every detail was thought about. I appreciated the still water bottles stocked in your room fridge and the fitted and flat sheet on the bed (I was surprised to find hardly any hotels or properties in Europe provide a flat sheet on the beds). The property was immaculately cared for, and every detail was given thorough care and attention. It was also immaculately clean. Lovely bedroom and beautiful updated bathroom with side by side sinks and a lovely tub that actually makes you want to take a bath. There was a lovely private rooftop terrace from our room and a lovely shared terrace on the ground floor where we ate dinner under the stars our first night (we arrived very late in the night and Christine was so sweet and helped get us food which was amazingly delicious from a nearby local bistro so that we could have dinner as all the restaurants would be closed by the time we arrived). As soon as you leave the gate from the property you are in a charming area filled with lovely shops and restaurants. It is so idyllic and you could just lose yourself in that town for a week without having a desire to leave. With that said it is such a good jumping off point to explore Gordes, Roussilon, Les Boux, Aix en Provence, Avignon, and many other places. Literally the only issue I could foresee anyone having with this property is if you were old and have a large suitcase and your room is on the top floor. We had huge suitcases and were on the top floor but it was no problem for me as I'm a youngish guy, but even if it is a problem for you just don't overpack, it's completely worth it to stay at this amazing, clean, charming, and relaxing property. One of my favorite properties I've ever stayed at and can't wait to stay there again. The only thing I would have changed is I would have stayed longer!

We stopped by the Reine Jeanne around 1 pm on a Tuesday not thinking that reservations would be…read moreneeded. They let us sit in one of their interior rooms even though their patio was huge. I think a giant tour group had that commandeered. The food (salad, a baked egg dish) was good but nothing special. In hindsight, I wish we had walked further into Les Baux to eat.
